Reviews for Older Than My Years [V2]

I am not really sure how some really hideous stories on AFF could get five-star ratings, and something like Older Than My Years [V2] could get only three stars. It leads me to wonder how the rating system works on this site. Older Than My Years is written well enough for fan fiction. But I don't read fan fiction expecting Jane Austen to jump out at me from the internet. Stix's grammar is good enough, pacing is fine, etc. However, Stix deserves five stars for writing for the characters, and not the events that happen in cannon. They keep to what we like best about Batgirl- her shy awkwardness when socializing, her childlike honesty, and her frustrations by her learning disabilities that anyone can sympathize with.

As an avid reader of Batman, I can honestly say I get frustrated with the change in writers and artists who work on the comics. The worst ones write only for the action and events that take place, ignoring the human aspect best exemplified in Batman stories. And as Batgirl is by far one of my favorite characters in comic books, I was pissed with how short her run was, her subsequent change in personality, her change back and then self-banishment from the Bat-family to make room for the next Batgirl (though recent comics point to her return).

Yes, the smut in Older Than My Years is great too, but the reason why I keep reading with my face glued to the computer screen is not for that. It is to see where Stix takes Cassandra next. Stix, I have no open critique for you, but I just ask that you keep writing this story.

PS Your blocks of text are fine and set up pacing. But I'm sure you know not to acquiesce to the lazy reader.

Damn this story really sucks, starts off a little wierd with Batgirl and Batman, then got a bit better then it totally blows later on. All the characters get different personalities all of a sudden, it's too rushed through and is just really messed up.

Okay this story was a better version at least until the end of chapter 5 then it just falls apart again. Batman is totally OOC and you do the same crap as last time with just rushing through events and people acting totally insane. I never saw Batman thinking of Cassandra in any romantic way anyway and then the rest of the story just makes no sense at all.

You make the same mistakes all over again, maybe you should just drop this since you seem to have a lot of trouble writing the Batman characters.

I re-edited the last chapter. Plan on working on chapter 4 later today.

Ah well this chapter did explain a few things, like they started out as just friends helping each other out, but I guess they are like friends with benefits at the moment? And that was a better way for Bruce to deal with things plus he never was the social or emotional type. Sure the sex scenes are a bit rushed but they're a bit better then in the first one I think.

Although that had to be one big ass closet for them to try all those positions lol.

Ah so this is about the time she just started out like her first years as Batgirl? I'm guessing since she's still learning how to talk (nice touch by the way)Nice sex scene but don't forget to put in a few spaces to break up the giant blocks of type lol. The human eye is lazy and large blocks of type can get tirsome at times.

I got to wonder just how the hell your typing this up so fast, I mean jeez talk about speed lol. I'm surprised Cassandra knew how to blow a guy since I don't think she's ever had sex before as far as I know she hasn't in the comics given she's been single her entire life and most of that under her father's training.

Unfortunately I'm going into the Army tomorrow so I may take me some time to get back to this but I promise when I can I'll want to see how this turns out.

Well it's much better how well it's writen this time around. The flow of the story is better and the amount of detail is very nice too.

Is this an AU timeline or something? I ask cause Cassandra didn't find out Shiva was her mother until recently and after that she went evil. Just wondering where this story takes place in. Oh and I forgot to mention this last time but if Tim is still on a team it's more likely Teen Titans then Young Justice. And I guess there are other things like how Cass had her own cave and apartment aren't in this as well (I think in Bludhaven for a time)
