This is just a collection of one-shots--though some may have a few parts if they became too long--for Sladin that either came to me randomly or was part of the 100 Theme Challenge. I probably will never finish the Challenge, so I decided to just make them part of the collection instead of having two separate fics. Some were inspired by songs, fan art, or Teen Titan episodes, like Haunted and Apprentice SladinForeverRobin forgot what it was like to be just plain old Richard Grayson. He was sixteen years old, he could do whatever he damn well pleased. So what he wanted to do was go out and have some fun as, simply, Dick Grayson. He donned a red T-shirt and semi-tight, faded blue jeans with white sneakers. Before leaving Batman’s shadow, Alfred had packed some of those things for him. Bless that old man’s soul… Now before he could go, Robin had one last thing to do in the bathroom.
Carefully removing his mask, Robin set it on the sink counter. He then looked in the mirror and was almost shocked to see his crystal blue eyes. It had been, what, eight to nine years now since he last saw them? Whenever he took them off to reapply adhesive, he never looked in the mirror. Hell, he even wore his mask sleeping! Robin closed his eyes and sighed. This was Dick's night, not the poster boy Robin's. He was going to have some fun no matter what dammit! Even if it meant people finding out about him and talking to him. That was a risk he was willing to take. Opening his bedroom window, Robin climbed out onto the ledge and looked down. The island was pretty far away. Coming up with a better idea than plainly jumping, he turned and hopped down into his room and went to his discarded utility belt. He pulled out his grapple, went back out on the window ledge, and aimed towards the top of the roof. He fired the hook, which quickly caught the edge. Taking a deep breath, Robin held the gun handle and jumped off backwards. He quickly made his way down. Once on a protruding rock, he retracted the wire and set the grapple on the ground by the window. Robin then went to the edge of the island where he left a small, one-person rowboat he had left there earlier that afternoon. Clambering in, he sat down on the bench and then grabbed the oars. After rowing half way across the bay, he looked back at the T-shaped building that was his home. He left his communicator in his room so that the Titans couldn't contact him. It took almost half an hour to decide whether or not to keep it in his pocket. Luckily, he had this wonderful and relieved feeling that nothing bad would happen tonight, so he wasn't all that worried about Di-Robin's team. Looking back ahead, he continued towards the docks. After fifteen minutes, the boat gently bumped into a dock and Robin quickly got out, tying it to the wooden post. Standing up straight, he tilted his head back and breathed in deeply. The scent of the salty sea and the crisp clean air entered his nostrils. It made him feel like a whole new person. So being that new person, he took his first, new step into the real world. He was finally able to be normal again. All thoughts of this Robin character vanished from his mind and all of Dick came back. For one night, Robin would leave the Teen Titans to enjoy myself. Now, he just had to decide where to start. The city was fairly big after all. Thinking back to his circus days, Robin thought that checking out the street markets around Main Street would be a great place to begin. Heading in that direction, he felt extremely light on his feet. There was this new spring in his step that he never had before as he walked. It felt great! Once within the market, Robin examined a few of the stands. Five minutes later, after looking at some pretty stones, he passed a fortune teller's stand. A strange feeling suddenly passed through him. Stopping, Robin glanced back and saw the fortune teller, a woman with long, curly brown hair and emerald green eyes, staring at him. To be honest, he wasn't very fond about these sort of things. He didn't believe in ghosts or that people could see or know the future. He was about to ignore her and check out a ring market, but her silvery voice called out to him. Robin stopped and turned around to look at her again. "Come here, child. I can sense your aura pulsing. Please, come and let me tell your future." Robin tried to make himself walk away, but the woman’s eyes were strangely enticing. It was as if she was looking into his soul and controlling him to listen to her. "Do not be afraid, child." Unable to hold back anymore, Robin looked around to see if anyone was staring, saw that, luckily, nobody was, and then walked over to her tent. She motioned to a pouf on the opposite side of her table. Robin sat down, feeling embarrassed already. After sitting down herself, the fortune teller grabbed his hands with her long, slender, white fingers and held them palm up. She traced the lines on his right hand for at least three minutes while the left only took thirty or so seconds. When she was down, she laid them down. Robin pulled them back and held them in his lap. The woman smiled tenderly at him, like a grandmother would. "You are very lucky, boy. Your future is looking very bright. Tonight, you will meet a very handsome man. I saw you having a good time with him." Robin sweat dropped. He would meet a very handsome man? The woman stood up and smiled at him some more. Robin soon stood too. "How much do I owe you?" The woman shook her head. "Do not worry, my dear. There is no charge for new customers." Robin gave her a smile since he was nice like that. "Thank you." With a final nod and smile, the woman turned around and went back into her tiny tent. Raising his hands to his face, Robin examined his palms. He wasn't sure how she could know that he would meet a man tonight just by looking at his hands, but he thought nothing of it. His stomach suddenly growled. An image of a juicy hamburger popped into Robin’s head. He shook it to clear away the image before turning around and continuing on his way.‘Nope, no handsome man there. Maybe behind me…? No. Wait, maybe…oh, nope; false alarm. Just a nerd.’
Robin smacked his forehead, not meaning for that one to slip out. His mind was stuck on the fortune teller's prediction. How did a man tie in with his future being bright? And what made that teller think he would find a man handsome? Robin was a teenage boy for Christ sakes! He had a love interest with Starfire, not dudes. "I don't know what that woman was on, but her predication was crap," he spoke out loud. Luckily, he was in a dance club, so no one could hear me unless they were right beside him or behind. Robin instinctively looked in all directions. He took a deep breath when no one was near, telling himself to stop worrying. He was supposed to have a good time. "Why would I want to meet a handsome man for anyway?" Robin suddenly jumped when someone tapped his shoulder. "Is this seat taken?" Jerking his head around, Robin saw a tall, handsome, one-eyed man standing beside him. He wore a black eye patch over the right one. His hair was stark white, was messy around his neck and ears, and his left eye was a stunning steel blue. Even though he felt really numb from this man’s appearance, Robin shook his head. The man smiled and sat down in the chair beside him. Robin slowly turned back to the counter right when he was taking his order from the lovely bar waitress. Sipping moodily at his soda through the straw, Robin glanced at the man a few times. The waitress brought him an alcoholic drink, which he paid for with tip. The waitress thanked him and then turned to Robin. "Everything okay, dear?" Quickly looking away from the man, Robin nodded. "Yes, thank you." She smiled then went back to work. Robin glanced at the man again, who took a swig of his drink. He had a sudden hot flash that lasted a few seconds when he watched the man swallow. Before he could stop himself, Robin almost blurted, "So, um, can I ask what happened with your eye…sir." The man looked at Robin with a small smile. "You already did. My ex-wife shot it." Blushing, Robin looked away. "Sorry I asked." "No apologies necessary." Robin smiled nervously. The man stared at him for a moment before holding his hand out to him. Seeing it out of the corner of his eye, Robin stared at it as though a hand was foreign to him. "I should have introduced myself. My name is Wilson." Robin came out of his reverie. He quickly shook the man's hand, even though he was very nervous. He still remembered the fortune teller's prediction. And there was something oddly…familiar, about Wilson’s hand. Putting this observation aside, Robin smiled. "My name's Dick."While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
