Chapter 1: The dangerous Nightingale: Friend or foe?

Ummmmmmmm....yea. Hello. This is my first time posting a fanfiction here, or anywhere for that matter. If i make any mistakes, feel free to help me, or tell me what i should have done instead of the first option. I don't own the teen titans. I only own nightingale, who is my own character. Well, enjoy my fan-fiction.

The teen titans weren’t holding up very well. They were getting thrashed about by a new villain who had the power to turn high-pitched sound waves into destructive power. He called himself screech, and his name fit the description of his power. Screech had just sent robin flying over the horizon somewhere, and starfire was next in line to feel his power. Screech smirked slightly and slammed both of his hands together with all of his might, which caused for a dangerously powerful sound wave to slam into starfire’s body like a powerful disruptor cannon. Starfire screamed in pain when the sound wave hit, but was silenced by the building behind her. The blast had thrown her into a skyscraper, and knocked her out cold due to the way she hit it. She went sailing into it head first, like an arrow that had been shot into a large bull’s-eye with great force. Starfire fell from the building like a dead fly and hit the cold ground below her with a loud grunt. Cyborg had watched her fall, and was now angry at screech for what he had done. He quickly transformed his hand into his favorite weapon, the sonic cannon and aimed it at screech in such rage that it could have made a small child wet his or her pants. “You’re going down tough guy!” You could hear the annoyance in cyborg’s voice, but screech wasn’t afraid. He yawned and prepared to attack the remaining three titans with his sound wave powers. “Humph…..i thought that the teen titans would be a better challenge than this. I could have held up a bank or something, and it would have been more fun than destroying you clowns!” While he had been talking, cyborg had charged up his sonic cannon, and launched it at screech. Screech’s eyes grew wide at the size of the blast, and he tried to block it by attacking it with a sound wave. He figured that if he could generate more power than cyborg’s sonic cannon, he could force his energy back, and destroy him do to the increased power of their combined attacks. Screech smirked once more and prepared to attack cyborg’s energy, but it was too late. Raven was holding his arms to his sides with her dark energy while the blast slammed into his entire upper body. Screeched screamed loudly as the blast pushed him from his feet, and skipped him across the ground like one would skip a smooth rock across a lake. “Booyah!” Cyborg screamed loudly as screech slid down the street, and rolled to a stop near the city bank. Screech growled in anger as he slowly pulled him self up from the ground while holding his left arm. “This ain’t over titans! I have one last trick up my sleeve!” Screech let go of his hurt arm and held his other arm upward, while trying to use every ounce of endurance he had in his body to ignore the pain in his arm, chest, and ribs. “I’ll destroy this entire city before I let those bastards take me to jail! I swear!” Screech couldn’t concentrate. He was trying to gather his energy together so that he could create a sound so high-pitched that it would cause a major earth quake by disrupting the plates underneath the earth. ((Sound alone couldn’t do this, but as I said before, he could turn his power into destructive force. When the sound waves traveled underneath the earth, it would cause the plates to rub together, and generate a horrible earth quake that could swallow the city hole.)) Even though screech couldn’t concentrate on what he was doing, he managed to gather enough energy for the attack. Raven and cyborg watched form the far end of the street with the sensor on cyborg’s left arm. They couldn’t believe that he could generate enough energy to cause damage of that magnitude. “If we don’t stop him he’ll turn the entire city into nothing! “ Cyborg said while charging his sonic cannon for another shot. “We have to hurry or we won’t make it to him in time! He is already prepared to attack!” Raven didn’t sound afraid like cyborg had, only worried. They were both about to go forth and attack, but a blast of energy flew from out of no-where pulverized screech before he could even touch the ground with his attack. The energy that had struck him looked like a tornado mixed with thunder, lighting, and ice, but one couldn’t tell because it flew past so very fast. Cyborg and raven looked toward the direction in which the blast originated from, and saw a girl standing on top of a building with her hand out stretched. You could see a bit of lighting flashing around her hand quickly as she slowly brought it down to her side. The girl smiled and slowly floated down to cyborg and raven, trying to see if screech would arise and try to attack again. “Bulls-eye! He shouldn’t get up anymore…..” She said while looking over to cyborg, who was looking down at her with stupidity in his eyes. “How did you do that? BOOYAH! “Cyborg said loudly while slapping her on the back with one of his gigantic robotic hands. He was over all glad that she stopped him before he could use that attack. “Dude……that was a nice move. What……I mean who are you?” Beast boy was rubbing the back of his head while blushing. He had never seen a girl so pretty before. She had light pink hair, light green eyes, and a figure to die for. Beast boy thought she had to be the prettiest girl in the world, besides terra, raven and starfire. He wanted to keep looking up at her face, but his eyes kept wondering down to her attire. She wore a black belly-shirt, and a pair of black, hip-huggers, which fit her hips very well. ((Both of these items were paten leather.)) By then starfire had regained consciousness, and robin had returned from where-ever he had been knocked by screech. ((Oh yea, and her belly shirt was long-sleeved.)) “What happened? Where is screech?” Robin was now looking around for screech with his staff in hand, not knowing that the girl had knocked him out. “Did he escape?” Cyborg smirked and patted the girl on her back once more. “She stopped him. He was about to try and destroy the city, but she stopped him with some kind of energy blast. Though im not sure exactly what kind of energy it was.” Cyborg then turned his arm into a scanner, and started to move it around her body, so he could at least know what had fell into their laps. Starfire had pushed cyborg aside and pulled the stranger into a bear hug. She could hear her bones cracking, and smirked slightly. “It’s nice to meet you to!” She managed to croak out threw clenched teeth. It took everything she had in her not to scream while the tameranian female hugged her……..she could already feel bruises forming on her back. Starfire soon let go of her, and robin stepped forward, so he could at least learn her name.” So…..what’s you’re name? I don’t think any of us caught it.” She smiled at robin, and blushed while rubbing the back of her head gently. “My name is nightingale…….and you guys must be the teen titans.” They all nodded at nightingale. “Could you excuse us for a few moments nightingale? We have something that we need to talk about.” Nightingale nodded, and they formed a huddle, away from her. She stood there watching them, wondering what they could be doing. “Robin…..she belongs with us.” Said cyborg slowly while looking around at the others. “I know we’ve had some bad experiences, but we should give her a try. “ Raven sighed and opened her mouth up to speak. “Lets not forget about what happened with terra……..how do we know we can trust her?” Beast boy wanted to say something, but he just kept his mouth shut. He could never forget what terra had done to him, no matter how hard he tried. Starfire looked over to beast boy, and could tell he was uncomfortable with talking about terra. She sighed and gave her friends a smile. “Let us give our new friend, nightingale a chance. Im sure that she can be of great assistance to us.” They were all still unsure about nightingale, but willing to give her a chance. Robin walked over to her and pulled a spare communicator from his pocket, and held it out to her with a smile on his face. “We want for you to be a teen titan nightingale.” Nightingale smiled and slowly took the black communicator from his hand. It felt good to belong. She placed the communicator into her pocket and gave them all a gentle smile before taking a few steps back. “This is an honor and I thank you for it, but now I have to go.” She leaped up into the air quickly, and flew away before anymore words could be spoken. They all watched her fly away; still not very sure she could be trusted. Soon after she was gone, they left, and returned home so they could get some rest. – The next morning, Well day anyways-
Raven was awake, sipping green tea while reading one of her old dusty books. She smiled slightly and turned to the next page, knowing that cyborg or beast boy would burst into the living room and ruin her tranquility at any minuet. She sipped the last of her green tea from the cup, and sighed while still reading from her book. “It was fun while it lasted………” She just knew they would be the ones to ruin her perfect morning, but they didn’t. A loud buzzing sound could be heard threw out the tower, which meant that the city was in danger. She slammed her book shut, and watched the others run into the room and look at the large TV like screen. There was no picture, but a familiar voice could be heard on the other end of it. “It’s me nightingale! I managed to get my self into some trouble with some guy by the name of slade, and he plans to........" Nightingale's sentance was cut short due to a malfunction that only occurred when a communication device was knocked from one's hand. " Nightingale! What is slade about to do? Nightingale!" Robin called her name franticly , but she didn't answer. The only thing robin could hear was a blood curdling scream. He quickly put an end to the transmisson, and prepared himself for war with slade.
-Somewhere at an abandoned construction site-Slade was throwing nightingale around like a rag doll. He smiled evilly from behind his mask, and grabbed her from the ground by her light pink hair. “Hmmmmmmm……..you would make a good apprentice. You’re have quite a lot of skill.” He drew back slowly to punch her in the face, but she slammed her knee into his gut, and turned several sloppy back flips to put some distance between them. “I’ll never be you’re apprentice! NEVER!” She quickly lifted her hands into the air and closed her eyes, which caused for the skies to turn black. Thunder could be seen flashing threw the sky, and the once tranquil wind grew strong and violent. He had caused for the weather goddess to lose control, and now her powers were running wild. She grabbed her head and dropped down to her knees while crying and talking softly to herself. “Don’t lose control…….Please don’t lose control…” No matter how hard she tried to calm her self down, it was just too late. Her eyes had started to glow light green by now, and powerful jolts of thunder and lighting started to strike at slade, as well as tear large holes in the earth. Slade narrowed his eye at her slightly and tried to turn and run, but the second he did his face met the steel bottom of robin’s boot. Slade flew backwards, and slammed into a large bulldozer, which in turn angered him beyond belief. “Robin…….you are a constant thorn in my side. You have broken my mask, and destroyed more than one of my hide-outs………and today, I shall return the favor.” Slade had planted explosives at the base of the tower, and planed to sink it, like he had last time. This plan had a higher success rate of course, because the bombs ((C4 plastic explosives)) would break away vulnerable earth around the base of the tower, and collapse it. He had also placed some on a vulnerable spot on the tower, which would at least cause some major damage if they happened to break the button that controlled the C4 at the base of the tower. “I know that the ground around the tower is still unstable due to what happened last time, and so this time I plan to finish the job. Say goodbye to you’re precious home!” He was about to press the button on his wrist, but a powerful jolt of lightning struck slade, and threw him up into the air. ((This rendered both remotes useless.)) He was screaming now, but screamed even louder when he landed in a tornado that had formed underneath him while he was falling. The tornado spun him around violently and tossed him back up into the air, where he was pulverized by a second jolt of lightning. Slade screamed as he hit the earth, and created a giant crater. Robin ran over to the crater to see if it was the REAL slade, but he was disappointed. It was a robot. Robin sighed and slowly looked over to nightingale, who had passed out after burning 95% of her energy fighting with that robot earlier, and the other 5% finishing him off. Robin was about to pick nightingale up and bring her along, but starfire quickly flew past him, and took her into her strong tameranian arms. - Chapter end-
