Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/N: After I posted Emotions, many people requested for me to write another RavenxTerra fic, except preferably a longer one, with Terra alive, and a happy ending.
So, I have decided to do so. No guarantees about when new chapters will be posted, though. I will give you an eventual happy ending, but not until after a long twisty and turny path leads up to it. This will be a Romance/Angst story, however, just with a happy ending, as those are my favirite.
And yes, to all the yuri fans of the world, there WILL be smut. ;-)
Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans, throughout the duration of this story.
So now, without further ado, I present to you:
Hope
Chapter 1
"Why?"
A whispered question of reasoning floated gently down from the roof of Titan's tower, twisting and turning in the wind, until it was lost among jagged rocks of the island.
"Why?"
A lone girl sat huddled on the edge of the tower, her deep blue cape clutched tightly around her, despite the strong winds' desperate attempts to pull it from her grasp, whispering these one-word questions from her lips.
"Why?"
She sat facing the dawn, watching the sky as it became streaked with pinks and oranges and reds as if the sky were a giant canvas that an artist had carelessly run his brush across. It looked to be something out of a storybook, and made all that saw it for miles stop and gasp at its beauty.
She had been sitting there since midnight, when, in the darkest hours of night, she had escaped to the roof to find a place to contemplate her thoughts and painful emotions without interruption. She had watched the stars sparkle and the moon gleam for hours as she silently begged the heavens for an answer to her question. She had watched the beginnings of the dawn chase away the darkness of the night as a new day dawned.
"Why?"
A strong gust of wind blew the hood off of the girl's head, causing he lavender locks of hair to whip in the wind behind her. Seemingly oblivious to the wind's attack, she remained motionless, overlooking the dawn from her perch. Her face spoke of untold emotional agony, suppressed feelings, and inner turmoil.
"Why?"
The dark girl whispered this regularly, each time her tone more broken than the last. Her constant question seemingly addressed no one or nothing but herself. But she continued asking, never receiving an answer.
"Why?"
A sole tear trailed down from her deep violet eyes, caressing her lashes with moisture and sliding down her pale cheek noiselessly before dropping onto her cloak unnoticed.
"Why?
The girl blinked rapidly, obviously trying to keep from crying openly, struggling to restrain her emotions. Her eyes grew more watery and her expression more conflicted as she watched the dawn continue to rise, a symbol of hope to all but her.
"Why?"
Seemingly giving up her inner battle, tears streamed unabashedly down her face as she asked her never-ending question. The salty tears mixed with each other, forming tiny rivulets down her cheeks like creeks of water in a plain.
"Why?"
Her question began to grow louder each time she repeated it, echoing below her farther and farther each time.
"Why?"
A bird flew off of the rocks below her, startled, as she yelled her eternal question into the sky above.
"Why?"
A pipe behind her snapped abruptly, spewing water all over the roof. The girl turned from the sunrise to regard the pipe. Her hand became encased in a luminous black cloud as well as the pipe, as it twisted and fixed itself.
The girl turned back and slowly stood up from her perch, as she watched the sun settle into its place, the sunrise at its end. She watched it for a moment, motionless, just regarding it vacantly. A noise from the building below her that sounded vaguely like a pan crashing startled her, breaking her brief reverie.
She floated over to the staircase that led down to the rest of the tower noiselessly. Before descending, she turned back to the sky to whisper one last question one last time.
"Why, Terra? Why? Why did you have to die?"
A gentle breeze blew by, caressing her skin before whisking her words away from her.
The girl sighed and pulled up her hood. She cast a backward glance back at the sky before vanishing down the staircase.
The winds repeated her never ending question even in her absence, repeating her bleak tearful words.
"Why?"
