A few weeks after the prom, Betty and Reggie were still not speaking. Betty was depressed over Reggie and had stayed home to cry one Friday night.
“Betty, you have a visitor” she heard her mother call.
“I’ll be right down, Mom.” I hope it’s not Jason or Archie.
When Betty came into the living room she stopped short. It was Reggie. He was holding the largest bouquet of flowers even seen.
“Hi Babe. Please forgive me. I wanted to ask you to the prom, but that ass, uh creep Jason beat me to it. I miss you.” He held out the bouquet, his eyes pleading with her to
accept them.
“Oh, Reggie, I’ve missed you too. I forgive you.” She took the flowers and gave him a peck on the cheek.
“Will you stay for dinner Reggie?” Mrs Cooper asked.
“Yes Mrs Cooper, thank you.” Betty was beaming when she put her flowers in a vase of water. They were friends again.
Even though they had made up, Betty went out with Jason and the other guys because she knew it drove Reggie mad with jealousy. He still treated her as if she was his
sister.
“Good , Good” Betty chuckled with glee, every time she passed Reggie, making sure she was seen by him walking hand in hand with some other guy, looking as if she was
really into her date. Betty saw the stricken look on Reggie’s face.
Poor baby, she would think, but she did find it funny as hell. Serves him right.
Betty hoped that she would be reeling him in, soon.....
