That Night
Missed Chance
Reggie and Betty didn’t see or speak to each other again until they attended Archie Andrews’ wedding a year later. Archie surprised everyone and married Cheryl Blossom-including. Veronica. She always thought she had Archie under her thumb, and thought he would always come running when she snapped her little fingers. But this time he didn’t. Cheryl had him whipped sexually and mentally.
Veronica in turn surprised all by dating Jughead Jones. At first it looked like it was a rebound relationship for both, but as time went by, they became lovers. They looked very happy, and Jughead was not one to spoil the Lodge heir. Veronica’s father was not too thrilled about their relationship and hoped it was a passing phase. He kept his feelings to himself and he and his wife prayed for the day the two would break up. So far there was no sign of it.
Betty was surprised and relieved she had no romantic feelings about Archie, and hadn't for a long time. She was genuinely happy for him, though she did feel sorry that Ronnie took it hard. She was the one who encouraged the heartbroken pair to hook up, and it seemed to be working. Jughead laughed more, and could even talk about Ethel and her new baby boy.
Betty and Reggie attended the wedding with dates. Reggie’s heart began to thump hard when he saw Betty. She was breathtaking in a peach chiffon evening gown. She looked more beautiful than he remembered. He was having difficulty following the couple as they repeated their vows and promised undying love for each other. Archie and Cheryl’s love for each other burned bright for all to see.
Betty was having her own problems concentrating when she saw Reggie. She had hoped time would erase the craving for him that she tried so hard to squelch. But it hadn’t, to her dismay. She couldn’t seem to get enough of the sight of him. He looked so handsome in his black tuxedo. She focused on his green eyes, the same green eyes she remembered turning hazel in his passion….and she felt her nether egion grow weak and amp with desire. Oh my God..., she thought. Here it goes again, and why only with Reggie, of all people?
The crowd cheered when the newly married couple kissed and turned to walk out of the church. The massive crowd left the church to go to Riverdale’s swanky country club for the reception.

“Betty! Great to see you.” To Betty’s utter dismay, she saw that Reggie and his stunning red-haired date were sitting at the same table as she and her date were assigned to sit.
Reggie stood up and kissed her cheek. She had to restrain from caressing the spot his lips touched, and returned his kiss.
“Hi Reggie. This is my date, Jarrod.” They two young men shook hands. Reggie hated Jarrod with all of his heart. Even he had to admit the guy was very handsome.
“How are you Jarrod, this is Sharon. Can I borrow Betty for a moment? We’re old friends and haven’t seen each other for over a year.” Not giving Jarrod a chance to say anything, much less refuse, Reggie swept Betty off her feet, in more ways than one. They were dancing close during the song , Kiss of the Rose.
“Betty, why haven’t you answered my calls?” His breath was sweet and hot, warming up her insides in a way she knew would make her want to rip his clothes off right there in that fancy ball room, and screw him silly.
“You’ve called, I didn’t know,” she lied. “Sorry. I’ve been so busy.”
“Bets...I really have to talk to you...alone.” They danced close, body to body, both reveling at the closeness, oblivious to the stares as people looked them over, wondering if they would be the next to be married. Bettycould feel his hardness, and it made her almost swoon. She wanted to see him naked and kiss his hard flesh.
“Reggie looks so intense, you would think they were in love,” Sharon hissed in Jarrod’s ear. He just stared at them, undecided if he should cut in or not.
“Reggie, I can't. I’m here with Jarrod. What do you want to talk to me about?” She looked into his eyes, hoping her desire for him didn't show in hers.
“I would rather wait until we’re alone to tell you what’s on my mind,”
At that moment, the song was over, causing both of their partners to break up their little dance. They had both grudgingly agreed the two of them looked too good together. Jarrod was in love with Betty and wanted to marry her. He saw how happy she looked in Reggie’s arms and didn’t like it. And neither did Sharon. As they sat there glaring at their dates, they promised each other that would be the only dance they shared. Betty and Reggie didn’t have another chance to speak that night.
Soon enough, the bride and groom cut the cake and were off to their honeymoon in the Fiji Islands. Betty caught the bouquet and managed to get away with Jarrod before Reggie had a chance to continue their conversation. And by the look in his eyes, she knew he was going to ask her to go to bed with him. And God help her, she knew she would have agreed, not caring if she hurt her date. She knew for sure she was losing her mind.
