Chapter Five: Destroying the Status Quo
As Andrea drove, Raph explained to the others three women what had happened the previous evening, pausing every once and a while to give Andrea directions. By the time he was finished, having spared no details, Kris was livid.
“No offense to your sensei or anything Raph, but as wise as you say he is, you would think the guy would at least give us a chance and meet us before passing judgment on us,” Catey said despondently.
The red masked turtle had no response for that. In truth, he also found it strange that Splinter had been so abrupt in assuming their new friends couldn’t be trusted. He’d given April a chance and never once questioned her loyalty. He’d given Casey a chance and that alone made it hard to believe that the aged rat would refuse four harmless women.
“Take a right and pull into that garage,” he instructed.
Casting him a worried look, Andrea turned, then pulled into a huge garage that had probably once been a warehouse. There were pieces of scrap metal here and there, two large tool boxes against the left wall, two stacks of tires to the left and a racing bike and van parked in the shadows towards the back. An odd dome shaped room dominated the center of the garage.
As the door closed, they got out of the Escalade, everyone waiting patiently for Andrea to get Samantha out of her car seat, and then Raph lead them towards that particular room.
“Interesting place you’ve got here,” Andrea commented dryly.
When she received no answer, she shifted Samantha to her hip, reached over and took Raph’s hand, finally getting his attention. “It’s going to be okay hun. Quit worrying.”
He gave her a short-lived grin. “Hope you’re right. I’m startin’ to feel like maybe this isn’t such a great idea.”
“Well then, allow me to show you that it is.”
The room ended up being a spacey looking elevator that brought them down beneath the city street level and into the sewer system. When the doors opened to reveal a cavernous circular shaped room, the five were startled to Raph’s brothers, an aged rat, a woman and a tall, dark haired man talking heatedly.
Six head snapped up, shock registering very clearly on their faces.
“Catey!” Mikey yelped, being the first to recover. He ran up the ramp that came down from the elevator and swept the young blond off her feet, hugging her tightly.
She giggled and hugged him back, not caring if they were being watched. “Miss me?”
“You bet I did, babe. But how-?”
“Raph.” Catey pulled back, laying her hands on his shoulders and continuing in a hushed voice. “He spent the night. He told us about what happened and Andrea figured it might help if we came here and let everyone meet us face to face so they could actually see if we’re trustworthy instead of assuming we’re not.” Her hands curled up in half fists and she worried her bottom lip with her teeth. “I’m sorry if I got you in trouble.”
“Hey, it was worth it. If I wouldn’t have said anything about you, there wouldn’t have been a huge fight, Raph wouldn’t have gotten pissed, left and brought ya’ll back here with him. Thanks bro.” Mikey gave his red-masked brother an affectionate smile.
“Yeah, well…glad one of you guys are happy,” Raph muttered in return.
He stiffened suddenly, taking on that defiant look they all knew so well and Mikey turned, keeping one arm around Catey’s waist.
Leo was coming up the ramp, looking absolutely livid and their good friend April was at his side, her hands clenched in fists and her expression screaming disapproval.
Mikey shot a quick glance back at Kris to see what she had made of it, hoping the poor girl didn’t think there was anything going on between his brother and the red-head.
Kris was watching them. Her stance was relaxed enough, but anyone who looked at her face would know how angry she was. Her lips were a firm line, one brow was arched and her gaze alone could have frozen the depths of hell over twice.
Mikey swallowed hard. This was bound to get ugly.
“Raphael, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” Leo hissed, stopping directly in front of the brother in question.
“Mommy…bad word,” Sammy murmured with childish severity.
“Watch the language,” Andrea snapped automatically, shooting an icy glare at Leo and taking a huge amount of satisfaction with the stunned look that crossed his face when he saw Samantha replaced by the look of someone who’d been properly chastised.
Raph smiled dangerously. “Just returnin’ the favor. They were nice enough to invite us to their place. I trusted them enough to invite them to ours.”
“Oh for God’s sakes Raph! You met them in an alley two nights ago! How could you possibly know if you can trust them?” April demanded.
Beside him, Andrea gasped, outrage twisting her features. Outrage that she quickly got under control for the sake of Sammy and tightened her hold on the little girl as if to protect her from April’s angry words.
“We found you in the sewers. What’s your point?” he bit out, feeling a little guilty for speaking to April so harshly. But he wasn’t about to let her say one derogatory thing about Andrea.
“My point is I needed your help. Apparently they were doing just fine on their own until one went down.”
Andrea wasn’t one for holding her tongue. She glared at the other woman and said with quiet conviction, “you talk an awful lot for someone who wasn’t there.”
April spared her a quick frown before turning it back on Raph.
“You heard what Master Splinter said, Raph,” Leo muttered, keeping his voice low. “And of course you went out and did exactly the opposite.”
“Unlike you Leo, I’m not willing to turn my back on a girl just because I’m told to.”
“You can’t just trust the first girl you fall for Raph,” April said beseechingly. “It’s reckless…you don’t know anything about her!”
Andrea’s cheeks burned with a mixture of anger and humiliation. She hated, absolutely hated, it when people talked around her as if she wasn’t there. Leo was being completely unreasonable and this new woman was being an absolute bitch. Without waiting to hear what Raph had to say in her defense, Andrea handed Sammy to Christy, squared her shoulders and pushed past April and Leo, heading for the one mutant that could stop all of this pointless arguing – the aged rat in simple robes who’s hands rested over the top of a gnarled walking stick and whose wise, unreadable gaze was settled on her.
She stopped before him and held out her hand. She wouldn’t bow or make any kind of clumsy attempt that would be considered a formal Japanese greeting by way of introduction. She knew little about the culture and wouldn’t insult him by acting as if she did.
“Hello. I’m Andrea. I know it’s difficult to trust someone you don’t know, especially when it’s a woman who’s…um…interested in your son but please, if you’ll just have a look.” She lifted her hand slightly and smiled. “I think you’ll see that my friends and I would never harm your family.”
The aged rat studied her for a moment, then took her hand in one of his. His hand was strong yet soft at the same time, grasping Andrea’s with gentle firmness. She heard his raspy voice in her mind telling her to kneel and she did so, brining her slightly below his eye level.
Andrea decided that having someone mentally probe your mind was a strange, yet oddly relaxing feeling. She could feel him there, searching the corners, discovering what kind of person she was.
His fingers brushed her temple and she was so preoccupied with having someone else in her head that she hardly noticed.
“You have a very creative mind,” he murmured softly, releasing her hand and her mind at the same time.
Andrea drew in a deep breath, closed her eyes as she held and then released it. When she opened them again, Splinter was smiling warmly at her. “It seems I owe you an apology,” he said. “I was much too quick to pass judgment on you and your friends.”
Andrea waved his apology off, sitting back on her feet. “Nah. My dad was the same way when I started dating. He didn’t do that mind reading thing with every guy I brought home. That was,” she drew another deep breath, feeling relaxed and very drained. “That was intense.”
Splinter chuckled softly, gesturing to someone behind her. “This shall pass in time. I’ll bring tea for you and your friends.”
“You don’t need to do that trick on them?”
“No. The bond you have with your friends is a strong one. I was able to learn much about their personalities through that alone.”
“Oh,” Andrea replied simply.
She tried to stand and Raph was at her side, taking her hand and helping her to her feet.
“So, did she pass?” he asked.
“She passed,” Andrea answered, sharing a secretive smile with Splinter.
“Bring her to the couch so that she may sit down and rest,” the old rat instructed. “I’ll return shortly with tea.”
“Hey Raph, we good?” Mikey asked as Splinter retreated to the kitchen.
The red masked turtle slid an arm around Andrea’s waist to support her and gave his younger brother a thumbs up.
“Awesome! Come on Catey, I’ll give you a grand tour of the place.” Taking Catey’s hand, Mikey pulled her off in the direction of a dark hallway leading God-only-knew where.
With Mikey and Catey gone, the room fell uncomfortably silent. April had moved closer to Casey and was casting ill hidden looks of contempt at Christy. Ignoring them, Christy waved to Donnie, looking slightly helpless and Kris continued to level her icy glare on Leo.
Finally, Donnie rolled his eyes and walked past Leo to Christy. “Hey. No work today?”
Christy breathed a sigh of relief. “Nope. I got the day off. All clients are too busy gambling.”
“Great! Not that their gambling, but that you got the day off. I’ve been working on this new high-tech security system. Want to take a look at it?”
“Sure. Let me pass the rug-rat onto her mom and point me in the right direction. Though I ahh…think I could figured out where to go on my own.” She grinned and nodded towards a long table against the wall holding a huge computer, a tower and other computer related gadgets.
Donnie blushed slightly, then was promptly distracted by Samantha when she reached out and tugged on the end of his bandana, sticking it in her mouth and chewing on it. “This is Drea’s little girl?” he asked, smiling affectionately at the child.
“Yup.” Christy started walking down the ramp, away from April and Casey. “Donnie, Samantha…Samantha, Donnie.”
“Hi Wonnie!” Sammy greeted around a mouthful of purple fabric.
“Pleasure sweetie,” he said, ruffling her dark hair.
As the two passed Kris, she finally spoke up. “We…need to talk,” she said to Leo, her voice hard and even.
Leo’s shoulders sagged in defeat. He was in trouble. But it was well deserved and he knew it, especially if Raph hadn’t left out a single detail. “This way,” he muttered, leading her to his room.
“You know…I’m really tempted to go and hear what Kris’s got to say to him,” Raph said as he watched the two disappear. “Would sure make me feel better about that crap he pulled last night.”
Taking Sammy as Christy handed her over and sitting down on the couch, Andrea regarded him tiredly then shook her head. “Don’t you have better things to pay attention to?”
Raph grinned and sat down beside her. “Yeah, I do. You feeling okay?”
“Yeah. I’m just…really really tired. I’ve never had anyone else in my head before.”
“Look at me for a sec.” Raph gently grasped her chin and gazed into her eyes.
“Trying to see if I’m in some state of hypnosis?” she asked, feeling warmth creep up into her face. She wanted nothing more than to kiss him right now.
His grin widened slightly and his hand slid away from her chin, curling around her neck. “Nope. I just really like your eyes.” He leaned closer. “I’ve never seen eyes that color before. They’re almost gray.”
“Mm…and yours are the darkest amber,” she sighed, allowing him to draw her towards him. Samantha sat between the oblivious couple, watching the exchange with a look of mild boredom.
“I think I’m starting to understand why the thought of not seeing you again made my son so upset.” Splinter interrupted them, coming around the edge of the couch and carrying a tray.
Smiling sheepishly, Raph and Andrea put some space between them. Splinter chuckled softly and set the tray on the battered coffee table. “This should help clear your mind but will not cure exhaustion,” he said, handing Andrea a much of tea. “You haven’t had much sleep. I strongly suggest that you get some.”
Folding her legs under her, Andrea accepted the mug., holding it under her nose and deeply inhaling the scent of jasmine, rosemary and mint. “Thank you. But I’m a mother. I’m used to being exhausted.”
“We’ll take her Drea,” Catey called out, coming back into the living room area and eagerly reaching for Samantha. With another new mutant friend in her sights, Sammy nearly leapt into Catey’s arms to get to Mikey.
“Well hey there littlest dudette!” He was quick to grab Sammy before she toppled over Catey’s shoulders in her attempt to get to him.
“Wassa dudette?” Sammy asked him, latching onto his bandana tails and tugging.
Laughing, he took over holding her almost as if it were a second nature, propping her on his forearm and tickling her nose with one large finger as she stuffed the end of his banana in her mouth and looked up at him innocently.
“You’re a dudette! The littlest one here, actually. Oh wow, she’s freakin’ adorable!”
Smiling at her daughter’s enthusiasm over their new friends, Andrea quietly thanked him and leaned back against the couch, feeling the exhaustion Splinter had been speaking of really start to sink in. “So I take it no one will be offended if I end up crashing on the couch?”
“Not at all child.” Collecting a few empty pop cans from the table, Splinter placed them on the tray, picked it up and turned to leave. “You’re most welcome in our home. Should you need anything, do not hesitate to ask. I’m sure my son would be more than happy to help.”
“Thanks Sensie,” Raph called to the aged rat’s retreating back.
Sipping her tea, Andrea loudly hummed another thanks. The tea was a perfect blend and temperature and she had half of it gone before she took the cup from her lips. Warmth furled through her, enhancing her drowsy state. She knew it was only a matter of time before sleep came to claim her. “Is it just me, or does he seem really pleased about the fact that something’s going on between us?” she asked, taking another long sip and then putting the mug on the coffee table.
Raph smiled, his attention on the T.V. as he flipped through channels. “Sensie’s been tryin’ to teach me how to control my anger for a long time. He’s probably just glad the solutions presented itself so he doesn’t have to keep lookin’ for it.”
“Oh, so I’m a solution now, huh?” Andrea asked indignantly.
Raph gave her a long, sideways look and then turned his attention back to the T.V. before quietly saying, “You’re a lot more than that.”
Heat turned her cheeks a light pink and Andrea ducked her head to hide the pleased smile she couldn’t stop. Okay, so this was a million times better than anything she’d been able to dream up with her wild imagination.
Taking her mug from the table, she drained its contents in a few large sips. After setting it back down she sat back and relished the feeling of blissful relaxation that seemed to spread outward from deep inside her. She would have to ask Splinter how to make that tea. It would certainly make handling stress a lot easier. Before she got too relaxed, she suggested that Mikey and Catey find several blankets and pillows to throw together a makeshift sleeping area for Samantha that would keep her contained and comfortable if she went down for a nap, which judging from her sudden huge yawn, would be very shortly. As the trio wandered off, she fully relaxed so much so that when Casey suddenly appeared behind them and slammed his hands down on the back of the couch, she just turned her head slowly to the side and gave him an amused smirk.
“Hey Raph, I’m gonna take April home. She’s being kinda…”
“Bitchy?” Andrea finished for him without thinking. Horrified and slightly amazed at how lucid the tea had made her, she slapped her hand over her mouth and gazed wide-eyed at the dark haired man. He stared at her a moment, his mouth agape, then snapped it shut and did what she least expected him to do. He grinned.
“That’s what I was goin’ for. I’m Casey.” He held out a hand, his crystal blue eyes sparkling with amusement.
“Andrea,” she replied, shaking the offered hand.
“Nice to meet you. So yeah, takin’ her home.” He was looking at Raph again, throwing one or two cautious glances over his shoulder to where April stood, arms crossed over her chest and her face drawn in an expression of pure anger. “Might be over later, but I doubt it. I’m gonna have to play the attentive kiss ass, somewhat boyfriend to keep myself on her good side tonight.”
Andrea winced. “Yikes, good luck with that.”
“No kidding,” Raph added, grinning at Casey when he elbowed him.
“Later guys.”
Andrea watched him leave over the edge of the couch, her gaze catching and holding April’s hostile one until she spun away and stormed out of the lair. “Not sure she likes us very much,” she muttered, turning around and settling in. Raph threw her a questioning look. “April. I don’t think she’s liking the appearance of a bunch of women in your guys’ lives.”
“Why wouldn’t she?”
Andrea shrugged. “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe she doesn’t like other women moving in on her guys. Maybe,” she said slowly, thinking it over more and noticing little things here and there in April’s actions that sent up red flags, “she’s starting to see what we all see.”
“Starting to see what you see?” That got his attention. He turned away from the T.V. and stared at her suspiciously.
Andrea smiled and turned to face him, leaning towards him a bit. “She’s starting to see that you guys have some major sex appeal. Especially you. Don’t give me that look. You’ve got the muscle, the attitude, and those dark eyes. I’m lucky I’m the only one who knows how good you kiss. Might have some competition if I wasn’t.”
Raph chuckled softly, shaking his head. “You’re good for a guy’s ego, ya know that?”
“Oh, I’m good for more than just an ego boost.”
“Is that so?”
“Uh-huh.” Andrea slid closer to him. She wanted to say something else, to tease him a little more. She forgot she was dealing with a guy who wasn’t exactly known for his patience.
Raph’s arm stole around her waist and she was able to squeak out a brief sound of surprise before his mouth covered hers. He kissed her hungrily, pulling her across his lap and situating them so that they lay side by side on the wide couch.
“Oh…oh, bad idea,” Andrea murmured against his lips.
“Why’s that?”
Andrea pulled back and yawned hugely, unable to stop herself. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to do that! I’m just so…tired.”
“So go to sleep,” Raph demanded lightly, running his hand down her side and letting it rest on her hip.
“You don’t mind?”
“Nah. I’ll probably end up doing the same thing. How many hours of sleep did we get anyway?”
Andrea chewed her lip for a moment, knowing they’d fallen asleep sometime around dawn. She couldn’t remember, so she settled for yawning again, snuggling closer. “Not nearly enough.”
Pulling at the blanket draped over the back of the couch, Raph did what he could with only one arm to cover them and laughed softly when he saw that Andrea was lost to the world by the time he’d finished. Not surprising. He’d been on the receiving end of Splinter’s mind readings plenty of times and knew how draining they could be. What impressed him was that Andrea had put herself up to it. He didn’t recall telling her of his Sensie’s abilities. So, how did she know? Well, that didn’t really matter. She’d told him it was a good idea to bring them down. He’d doubted her and she’d proved him wrong. She’d gotten them in. And thank God for that. The thought of never being able to see her again hadn’t set well with him at all.
He wouldn’t have lasted a day, he thought as he watched Andrea sleep. Correction, if he was more like his brothers he wouldn’t have lasted a day. For once he was glad for his stubborn, impulsive nature and the fact that he often did things he was told not to do simply because he was told not to. It had certainly paid off this time.
Lifting a hand, he brushed Andrea’s long bangs back, then indulgently ran his fingers through her hair. She made a tiny noise, a hum of approval, and moved closer, pressing the full length of her body against his.
Raph released a shuddering breath, closing his eyes. “Damn,” he whispered. Lust and exhaustion wagged a battle within, neither wanting to give up the fight. He knew which one he had to give into though. Taking another deep breath and attempting unsuccessfully to calm the raging hormones he’d never really had to deal with before now, he wrapped his arm loosely around Andrea’s waist and in a matter of seconds, was just as gone as she was.

Holding Catey’s hand and feeling like the luckiest turtle on the earth because of it, Michelangelo held Sammy in his free arm and took them both back out into a much quieter living room. The only two figures he could make out were those of Christy and Donatello across the room, sitting very close, their heads pressed together as they stared at a wide computer screen and exchanged quiet conversation.
“Wonder where everyone else is,” Mikey said softly, handing a very tired Samantha over to Catey so that he could spread out the six blankets and dozens of pillows they’d brought out with them. He had intentions of challenging Catey to a video game or maybe just cuddling up on the couch and watching a little daytime T.V. once Sammy went down for a nap. Whatever came first. He knew that they were all off the hook for training due to the unexpected arrival of their guests.
“Well, I don’t know about Kris and Leo or those other two people that were here, but I know where Andrea and Raph are,” Catey said, smiling and pointing to the couch where the two lay cuddled up together under a large quilt.
“Aw, now that’s just cute. But totally inconvenient. How are we supposed to watch T.V. without waking them up?”
“Um, how exactly did you plan on watching T.V. with her asleep?” Catey asked with a small giggle, nodding down at Sammy who was now even closer to nodding off, her little hand grabbing and releasing the fabric of Catey’s sweater repeatedly. “We’ll just have to play video games instead. Although I doubt volume would do much to wake those two up. I don’t think they got much sleep last night.”
“What makes you think they didn’t get sleep?” Mikey asked, fixing the pillow around the fluffy pile of blankets and then holding out his arms for Sammy. Catey carefully handed her over and the little girl snuggled into Mikey immediately. “They weren’t…you know?”
Watching him thoughtfully as he placed Sammy down on the blankets and grabbed her smaller one from her bag beside the couch, tucking it carefully around her, Catey shook her head. “No, nothing like that.” She let him lead her to an overstuffed chair and sat down on his lap without needing any prompting. He wrapped an arm around her waist and laid the hand of the other on her thigh. “I think they must have spent the entire night…and probably a good part of the morning talking. They’ve been acting…different. And they’re pretty comfortable around each other…obviously.” She shrugged, a delicate lift of her shoulders and a soft smile curved her lips. “I’m happy for them though. Drea’s just thrilled. I don’t think I’ve seen her this happy before.”
“I know what you mean, babe. Not that Raph’s been acting all giddy or anything like that because that would be really, really disturbing. But he’s not as moody and I know he’s been thinking of her. He’ll zone out all the time, kind of smile a little and it’ll take about six or seven attempts at getting through to him before he snaps out of it. It’s fun and it’s a good thing. We were all starting to worry about him. I was really worried about him.”
“Is he your favorite brother?” Catey asked, only half joking.
“I don’t play favorites with family. I love all my brothers. Raph just seems to be the one I connect with better. I’m closer to him than I am to Donnie and Leo. Although, I might have to make him my favorite for a while for bringing you guys down here.
Catey started to smile, then immediately remembered what had started this whole mess and grimaced instead.
“You’re going to apologize for getting me in trouble again, aren’t ya?” Mikey asked, then laughed at the pained expression she gave him in response. “Like I said before, it was worth it.” Lowering his voice, he gazed intently into her dazzling hazel eyes and added. “You were worth it, Catey.”
Catey’s pulse tripped wildly, her heart pounded so hard that she was sure the loud drumming would wake Andrea and Raph. She murmured Mikey’s name, or at least she thought she did. She was unaware of almost everything except his hand gently cupping the side of her face, his fingers slipping through her hair.
“I’m kinda new at this babe, so bear with me, okay?” he murmured.
Catey made an attempt to reply, managed a plaintive “umhm” and then he was kissing her. He was hesitant at first. They both were – muscles tense, unsure of what to do next. Though she was having a hard time thinking, a memory surfaced through the haze clouding Catey’s mind. Andrea telling her, Kris and Christy about the first kiss she’d shared with Raph…how he hadn’t known really known what to do. Catey immediately took the situation into her own hands, slowly parting her lips for a deeper kiss. And Mikey caught on quick.
With a tiny sigh, Catey wrapped her arms around his neck. The tension drained from her body. She felt as if she were sinking yet weightless at the same time-sinking into a kiss that was so amazing, flying because of how wonderful that amazing kiss made her feel. Mikey was good. Really, really good.
Oh, good cow, she thought, her breath hitching as his arm circled her waist and pulled her closer.
“Got a question for ya,” Mikey said, giving her one more lingering kiss before pulling away.
Catey bit back a sound of disappointment, slowing opening her eyes. “It had better be a good question,” she grumbled, making him laugh.
“Trust me babe, it’s worth it.” He shifted slightly, putting them in a more conversational position. “First of all, part of what I’m gonna tell you stays between us, deal?”
Catey nodded slowly. “Deal.”
“Remember when Kris dared Drea to go stand in the bathroom with the lights out? Well…I kinda went in there to keep her company. I used to be afraid of the dark so I sympathized. Anyway…we got to talking…mostly about Raph….and you.”
“Me?”
“Yeah. I…um…asked Drea if there was any way,” he paused, swallowing hard, “any way that you would…um…give us a chance. I mean me…and you. Like…together and…you know…”
He was just digging himself in deeper and Catey thought it was incredibly adorable. Especially that deep ruddy red blush creeping into his cheeks. She really should save him…really. “Mikey?”
“Yeah?”
“I’d love to be your girlfriend.”
He looked startled for a moment, then quickly grinned. “Who said anything about a girlfriend? I was thinking more like a maid. You know…clean my room, do the dishes-.”
“Mikey!” Catey gasped, swatting his arm.
“-do laundry, clean my weapons, change the oil in the battle shell…”
Catey glared at him as he rambled on, then quickly and efficiently shut him up by pressing her mouth to his. When she pulled away, several blissful moments later, she watched Mikey gather his wits with a pleased smile.
“So,” he said after heaving a huge sigh, “girlfriend then?”
Catey shrugged. “Sure. Why not.”
They stared at each other, their smiles growing until they burst into laughter. A muffled moan from the couch reminded them that there were people sleeping and they quickly stifled their laughter but didn’t stop smiling.
“So do you think those two are dating?” Catey asked, nodding towards Andrea and Raph.
“Don’t know. Haven’t gotten a chance to talk to Raph alone yet. I’ll find out though.”
“Who do you think will be next?”
“Well, definitely those two if they aren’t already. If they are…Donnie and Christy.”
Catey snuggled closer to her new honey and rested her head on his shoulder. “What about Leo and Kris?”
“Hard to say babe.” Mikey cast an anxious glance at the hallway that led to Leo’s room. “Guess it all depends on how forgiving your girl Kris is. Leo did a pretty crappy thing.”
“Hey guys,” Donnie called, approaching them with Christy at his side.
Catey and Mikey glances fearfully at the floor where Sammy was now sprawled on her side, sleeping undisturbed by the sudden noise, then shot Donnie a quelling look. “Keep it down, dude,” Mikey hissed.
“Sorry Mikey.” Donnie lifted his hands in mock surrender, immediately lowering his voice. “Something tripped the alarm system. It was probably just a sewer rat or something but we’re going to check it out just to be on the safe side.”
Catey winked at Christy and Christy waggled her brows suggestively, taking the subtle hint. The two women were well aware that their time was running out and knew that they’d better start following Andrea’s foot-steps by going after what they wanted.
Noticing Donnie was already heading for the wide entrance to the lair, Christy raised her crossed fingers, grinning at Catey, then took off after him.
“What was that all about?” Mikey asked, eyeing his girlfriend suspiciously.
Catey turned her smile on him and gave his cheek a little pat. “You were right, Michelangelo. Christy and Donatello are going to be next. So…what do you have for video games?”
*~*~*~*~*~*
Following a walking mutant turtle through the intricate sewer system of New York was never something Christy thought she would be doing at sometime in her life. Then again, neither was a detour from reality into a cartoon world. But she wasn’t complaining. No, far from it! Her only minor complaint was the damp obscurity of the sewers. It was kind of creepy. But one look at Donnie and those wonderfully muscular arms made her feel so safe and secure and the creepiness suddenly seemed so irrelevant.
A memory surfaced as she admired the mutant walking just ahead of her, a memory far too erotic to be thinking at the moment and Christy had to remind herself to keep walking and not trip over her own feet. Now, if only she could make that thought her current reality. She certainly wouldn’t mind a ravaging from the purple masked turtle right about now.
“Donatello?” She lengthened her stride and fell into step beside him. “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure. What is it?”
“Okay, hopefully this doesn’t come across as rude but I was just curious…your genes – are they half human, half turtle? Or is it more turtle and just a little human?”
“Actually, it’s the other way around.”
“The other – you mean you guys are more human?” She actually stopped walking and stared at Donnie’s back, a little stunned by her admission. Or actually, stunned by how much more attracted she was to him knowing he was more human.
Donnie turned to look at her, smiling. “Yeah. Mostly actually. We only have a few reptilian traits, appearance being the obvious one. We’ve also got the ability to remain under water for long period of time and…well, that’s about it really. Everything else – ability to feel emotions, brain patterns, reactions and a lot of other stuff…all human.”
Christy arched a brow in question, a grin playing at the corners of her mouth. “Everything?”
“Um, yeah.” Donnie cleared his throat nervously. Even in the darkness, Christy could see him blushing. She clenched her hands into fists at her sides, fighting the urge to grab him and find out just how human he really was. It would really help if he wasn’t doing the shy thing. She found it an incredible turn on.
By unspoken agreement, they continued on down the tunnel, a good safe space of five inches between them.
“So do sewer creatures usually trip the alarms a lot? I can’t imagine going on treks like this on a daily basis would be much fun.”
Donnie chuckled softly. “Yeah, they do. I don’t always go check things out though. These tunnels don’t exactly make for-.”
A sewer rat lost its footing on a pipe above them, its startled screech cutting Donnie off. The sudden appearance of the grimy animal startled Christy. She gasped and stumbled to the side. Her foot slid off the narrow walkway and she started to fall towards the murky river of sewer water moving sluggishly along the center of the tunnel. A tiny yelp escaped her as Donnie’s arms wrapped around her waist. Her foot just barely escaped being submerged in the river of sewer water, passing instead over the surface and making a faint splashing sound.
“Whoa, that was a bit close,” Christy murmured, watching the rat cast them a baleful look before scurrying away. “Nice catch though. Very ninja-esque.”
She turned a thankful smile on him, one that disappeared when she saw his intense gaze fixed on her. No, not fixed on her, fixed on her mouth. He was going to kiss her. She expected it, she saw it coming but was unprepared for the skill in which he did so. His arms tightened around her, a grin, brief and fully arrogant flashed across his face and as he slowly bent to claim her lips, he turned them in a half circle. She was pressed against a wall, trapped and absolutely thrilled about it. Lord, was he ever good!
That though, simple as it was, had the power to kill the mood. He was good. Too good for a guy who’s brother’s had to be taught the fine art of kissing. His mouth moved on hers slowly, erotically. She jerked back, staring wide-eyed at a bewildered looking Donatello.
“How do you know…I mean…” she stammered quietly. “Have you had a girlfriend that your brother’s don’t know about or something?”
“No,” Donnie said quickly, then blushed and haltingly added, “well…kind of…I guess.”
“Kind of, you guess?” The euphoric feeling from only seconds before disappeared, leaving Christy feeling an odd combination of disappointment and envy.
“Christy, let me explain. It was an…an internet thing. Man, could I sound like a bigger geek?” He shook his head and looked away, clearly uncomfortable. “About two years back I met this girl in a chat room. I was bored and seriously didn’t expect her to IM me. But she did. We got to talking and after six months we knew each other pretty well…well enough to…uh…experiment a little.”
Christy couldn’t help smiling, but she didn’t laugh. Laughing would make her quite the hypocrite since she jumped into a streak of rebelliousness and delved in a little cyber foreplay with a good online friend she’d met in a chat room two years-.
The smile vanished from her face in record time as her heart gave a wild lurch. She tried to listen to Donnie but heard only bits of what he was saying. Her brain was thinking too much to allow any outside noise.
Andrea and Kris had told her the reason why they were in this dimension – to have a chance to get what their hearts truly desired. Christy hadn’t shared their desire, not to the extend the other three women did. She’d been new to the whole thinking a ninja turtle was hot thing. So until now, it hadn’t made sense to her why, exactly, she was there. But now she knew. Since meeting her online friend and getting to know what he was like, Christy had harbored a need to meet him. He’d always treated her so nicely, had always made her feel like she was wanted. And he had been so shy at first. She had loved talking to him, sharing herself with him and having him alleviate her of late night boredom.
Sagging against the wall, weak kneed from shock, Christy easily put two and two together. It made sense now. She knew why she was here. She’d been given a chance to meet that online friend – a man who knew everything about her from her favorite food to how she liked to be kissed. A man…who was the mutant of her dreams.
“I was going to tell her about you. I mean…if anything happened between us…well, it did but…damn it. I had no idea you were going to react this way. I’m sorry. I’ll tell her as soon as I see her online again. But she hasn’t been on for like two weeks.”
Christy’s smile returned slowly. She wanted to laugh. She wanted to sing! But instead she said hesitantly, “Technogeek82?”
Donatello was clearly startled. “Yeah…that’s my screen name. But…I didn’t tell you…” his voice drifted off and, like a light coming on, realization dawned on him. “Wait…Spurlin?!”
With a half yelp/half laugh of joy, Christy threw herself into Donnie’s arms and immediately started kissing him again with passionate abandon, previous disappointment and envy long gone.
“I can’t believe it’s you!” Donnie said, several minutes later when they came up for air. “We never even talked about meeting each other.”
“I know! What are the chances?” She smiled as he hugged her tightly and rested her head on his muscular shoulder, nuzzling his neck with her nose. “And you’re not some psycho stalker or sex offender.” She pulled back to give him a teasing smile. “Well…you are a mutant turtle.”
Donnie grinned back. “Think you can let that one slide?”
“Hmm…I suppose I could.”
They kissed again, coming together slowly and savoring the taste and feel of each other. Donatello ran one hand through her short hair, his other arm circling her waist and drawing the full length of her body against his greedily. He wanted to feel as much of her against him as he could. He wanted to feel the soft warmth of her skin under that clothing.
When they broke apart again, Christy leaned heavily against Donnie. She felt as if her whole body was on fire and melting because of it. “You are entirely too good at that.”
“Well, you were pretty descriptive when it came to discussing technique.”
It was the kind of comment that should have provoked a laugh and yet Christy felt her eyes well with tears and her throat tighten.
“Christy?”
She swallowed thickly and nodded. One hot tear coursed down her cheek, quickly followed by another. She didn’t trust herself to speak, knowing that the only thing that would come out if she opened her mouth would be a sob.
“Christy…are you okay?”
And then he had to go and say her name like that. Damn it anyway. She buried her face against his neck, tightened her hold on him and gave in.
“Christy, what’s wrong?!”
“I’m…s-sorry! I don’t know why I’m cr-crying. I just can’t believe this is really happening,” she managed to say.
Donnie smiled and slowly rubbed his hands up and down her back. He suddenly remembered her saying something about being long overdue for a backrub a few weeks back and vowed to give her one. But not right now. Right now, he just wanted to hold her, something he never thought would be possible when they had gotten serious.
“Hey Christy, we’ve known each other for what…two years?”
She pulled back and gave him a watery hesitant smile. “Yeah, about that.”
“Well, this may not be the best time to say this but…I think I mean it when I say it.” He leaned forward, pressed a feather light kiss to Christy’s full lips, then moved away only far enough to leave a breath of space between them. Her eyes, such a unique mix of dark gold and green, watched him from beneath heavy lids.
Donnie smiled into those gorgeous eyes and murmured softly. “Christy…I love you.”
Her hand flew up to cover her mouth and she closed her eyes, but not before two large tears managed to escape. “Oh, shoots. You just had to go and do that, didn’t you?” she murmured after dropping her hand and giving him a tremulous smile.
“You know me,” he responded with a shrug.
“Yes,” Christy moved into his arms, sighing blissfully as they tightened around her. “I do know you. And I love you too.”
If he only knew just how much she knew him. But he couldn’t, not yet. Maybe not ever. She couldn’t see how that situation would work out as being a good thing, brining to light the fact that all of them had known the four terrapins since they were children.
Okay, stop thinking about that! Happy thoughts, go with the happy thoughts instead, Christy thought, grasping for a memory that would erase the hollow ache that had settled over her heart. One memory surfaced almost violently, a memory of their third night “experimenting” online. That had been a particularly enlightening evening, lacking reservations, open and honest. That night had changed Christy irrevocably. They’d crossed boundaries, dropped any online façades they’d been trying to maintain and had laid bare a raw, unbridled passion in one another that had fed her fantasies for months to follow. With memories of those nights attempting to wash away the more painful thoughts, Christy turned her head ever so slightly so that her warm breath fanned over Donnie’s neck.
“Donatello,” she said in a husky undertone.
She felt the muscles in his arm tense and grinned, lightly brushing her lips against his skin, drawing from him a startled gasp. “Do you remember that night when we really dropped our guards and you tormented me by telling me what you would like to do to me?”
He swallowed hard. “Yeah.”
“Why don’t you.” She paused and pressed her body against his suggestively. Her nails trailed up and down the lengths of his arms. “Take me back to your room.” She boldly ran the tip of her tongue from his collarbone to the curve of his jaw before moaning softly and finishing. “And do them.”
He didn’t have to be told twice. He picked her up, cradling her slight weight in his arms and flashed her that adorably cocky grin that she never knew he possessed. She couldn’t suppress a laugh as he took off running through the tunnels back to the lair. Donnie was a man of action. She would have to remember that. He didn’t even pause in running through the living room area, earning them two very curious looks from Catey and Mikey.
“Donnie!” she laughed. “Put me down! I’m fully capable of walking the rest of the way.”
He did as she asked, having the grace to look only slightly ashamed of his reaction. “Sorry.” He took her hand and led her more slowly down a short hallway to the last door on the right. “It’s not every day you have a girl present you with such a tempting opportunity. Especially when..” he faltered, losing that cocky edge that she was starting so much to adore. “…when you’re me.”
She came to a dead stop, catching him off guard and forcing him to turn around and face her. The look he gave her was questioning, but she could see the uncertainty and fear beneath it. This was his first time. She knew that. Online encounters weren’t the kind of thing that gave the emotional drama of the real thing.
“Donatello.” She traced the curve of his cheek with her fingers, slowly, hoping to convey by her actions alone how attractive she found him, how special this was for her as well. “What you are doesn’t mean anything to me. It’s who you are that I care about. And who you are…is this wonderful, caring, sexy mutant with a dark, passionate side,” the grin returned and she silently congratulated herself, moving close to him and wrapping an arm around his neck, “that I’d really like to get to know in person.”
Donnie reached behind him, shoved his door open and pulled her inside. He was so quick. She was positive that she hadn’t even had a chance to blink before he had yanked her inside, shut and locked the door behind them and yanked her into his arms. All she really had time to do was close her eyes and submit fully to his ardent attention.
His mouth slanted over hers, hot and greedy. Almost as greedy as the hands running up her sides, down her back, under the curves of her full breasts. He tasted so unique, unlike anything she could actually identify. It was intoxicating. She pressed the full length of her body against his, moaning as he deepened the kiss even more. One leg curled around his as he lifted her and pressed her against the closed door.
She was forced to break the kiss when he yanked impatiently at her shirt and ripped it off, casting it aside. He had no intentions of returning to her mouth though. Instead, he focused his attentions on her breast, clad in only a flimsy lavender bra that left nothing to the imagination. It was lace, and it was sheer, and the fact that she was fully aroused wasn’t something the fabric hid very well.
Groaning as if he were in pain, Donnie bent his head and took one pert, lace confined nipple in his mouth. The combination of damp fabric and his tongue caused her toes to curl and her stomach to clench. He bit her, none-too-gently and she gasped, arching her back and clawing with a free hand at the unyielding door.
“Thanks for telling me you were a sucker for that one,” he murmured, flashing her a quick grin.
She managed a slightly high-pitched “mhmm” in response, painfully aware that his hungry gaze was raking over her body. She watched him through heavy lidded eyes, memorizing every detail, drinking in the reality of the situation and anxiously awaiting his next move. Watching him look her over wore on her patience though and she placed her hands on either side of his face, forcing his gaze to meet hers before she leaned forward and pressed a feather light kiss to his mouth. She followed that by running her tongue along his bottom lip and then giving it a teasing bite. A sense of raw, uninhibited power filled her as he gasped and a shudder rippled through his body.
The arms holding her fell away, but his mouth came down on hers hot and hard, his tongue plundering, and she didn’t notice. She was completely unaware of anything else but the feel of his mouth on hers, the taste she would never tire of, that she would long for every moment she was away from him. In being occupied though, she never saw him remove his bandana and tie the ends into adjustable knots in the center. She hardly registered the arms wrapping around her, lifting her. She was even oblivious to her own actions, to the fact that she was wrapping her legs around his waist and lightly clawing at his shell. She did register the bed however, her excitement increasing as he placed her down on it and ran his hands over her arms, raising them and pressing them to the pillows above her head.
He moved from her mouth to her neck, his tongue sweeping the sensitive flesh. She needed him, needed him badly. She craved the satisfaction that only he could give her.
. “Are you okay?” Donnie asked softly. He placed one hand gently on her shoulder, then slowly ran it down her body, stopping at the waistline of her jeans.
She shook her head feverishly. She wasn’t okay. He was hitting all the right spots, doing everything she had admitted she would be interested in finding out about. He’d was knowingly pushing her that much closer to the edge of reason by touch alone. She wasn’t sure how much more she could take before she turned into a sobbing wreck, begging him to take her.
“Hopefully this won’t make things worse.”
His fingers deftly worked the button of her jeans free, unzipped them, and pulled them slowly down the lengths of her legs. Like he’d down countless times in their cyber-play, he kissed his way down her body, following the path his hand had just made.
“You’re so beautiful, Christy. You’re skin is so much softer than I imagined it being. And you don’t smell like I thought you would at all. You smell like,” there was a thoughtful pause as he toyed with the lacy waistband of her panties, “like these wild roses that grow out at the farm on a hot day after it’s rained all night.”
Christy stared at him, dangerously close to tears. She’d never had anyone describe her so poetically before, especially not the way she smelled. “Passionate and poetic,” she murmured with a tiny smile.
“Only for you, Christy.” He removed the last shred of her clothing, then positioned himself between her legs. The moment they parted, he was hit with the full force of her scent. He’d been breathing it in-the exotic, musky aroma that had ripped away at his control for the past half hour. But now it was overpowering and that control, that sanity he’d tried so hard to maintain, was gone. Like an animal possessed, he growled and lowered his mouth to her, his teeth grazing the slick folds, his tongue plunging into her heat. He quickly found out that her taste was far more overwhelming than her scent. It was drugging. He dug his fingers into her hips and ravaged.
Christy had been expecting something wonderful. She hadn’t been prepared for the assault he laid upon her. He was not gentle, but she didn’t want him to be. He devoured her, he consumed her. She was drowning in a maelstrom of erotic pleasure. One thick finger roughly entered her and she screamed, her back arching far off the bed, her heels digging into it.
The one hand still gripping her hips impatiently yanked her even closer and he groaned against her, his actions intensifying to the point that the need to lose herself, her control, everything, to give herself to him, was the only thing she wanted. She was sobbing his name, her hands clawing at sheets. Her head thrashed back and forth against the pillows. She wasn’t sure how much more she could take.
He switched tactics, scraping his teeth gently against her heat and she lost it. Her enraptured scream followed by a helpless whimper were pulled forcefully from her as her body collapsed on the bed, spent and ravaged. Her breath came out in shuddering gasps and she felt hot tears tracing their way over her flushed cheeks. She had no idea how long she laid like that, unable to think straight, unable to do anything but shudder in the aftermath of the most intense orgasm she had ever had. She hardly had the energy left in her to open her eyes, but she made the effort and looked down at him. He was still kneeling between her legs, breathing hard, his hands on either side of her and his head bent.
“Donatello?” she whispered raggedly.
He slowly lifted his head and his brown eyes, so dark with passion now that they were almost black, stared intently back at her. “I need you Christy.” He lowered his head and took another taste of her. Christy whimpered in response, her body going tense. He tasted again, and again, throwing her into an enraptured state. She groaned softly, a groan that turned into a moan of sheer ecstasy as he entered her in one agonizingly slow thrust.
He stopped and moved over her, burying his head against the curve of her neck. His body trembled and she felt the resistance, the restraint.
“No,” she whispered harshly, her arms wrapping tightly around him. “No control, not now.”
His teeth sank into the tender flesh of her neck and he began to move, thrusting slowly at first, his hips rocking against hers. She wrapped her legs around him and they moved as one.
She’d been ravaged and consumed, but it was nothing like this. He moved faster and she moved with him. Every motion was not one’s to make, it was theirs, together. Her hands curled clawed at him, then curled into fists, her moans of passionate abandon turned into sobs of complete pleasure, mingling with his hoarse groans. His control snapped and it was hers. Together they became slaves to something far more powerful than anything they had ever known. He drove into her, she took every inch of him and reveled in it.
“Donnie…Donnie please,” she begged.
His hands gripped her hips, again bruising the skin and he jerked hard, going far deeper than he before and together they shattered, each calling out the others name as their bodies trembled.
Christy couldn’t stop herself from crying. The tears came so fast. She’d never known pleasure like that. She’d never been so lost to something before. As she cried, Donnie held her tightly and rained kisses over her neck, his own breathing uneven and labored. He held her until not only was she sexually spent, but emotionally spent as well.
“That…that kind of makes everything we did online look tame.”
Christy turned her head slowly to the side, stared at him for a long drawn out moment, and burst into laughter. He quickly joined her.
When they calmed down, Christy drew in a shuddering breath and loudly released it. “Oooh my, I’ve never, never felt this…”
“Sated?” Donnie replied with a lop sided grin.
She nuzzled her nose against his cheek. “Yes…sated. I don’t have words for how wonderful that was.” She snuggled close to him as he pulled the blankets up around them.
“So, do you think this is going to look bad to the others?”
Donnie chuckled softly. “Well, the only two who saw us were Mikey and Catey, so they’re really the only two we have to worry about. I’m in no hurry though, are you?”
“Nah” She moved one leg over his. “Not if no one else really noticed.”
But others did notice. It was Christy’s enraptured scream of “Oh my God!” that had startled Andrea from her sleep. She jerked upright, completely forgetting where she was, and waking Raph up in the process. “What was that? Where’s Sammy?!”
Catey had heard the scream as well, but it was the note of panic in Andrea’s voice she reacted to. “Sammy’s right here honey,” she hissed. “Still sleeping, still as angelic as ever.”
Andrea looked down beside the overstuffed chair Catey and Mikey were cuddled up in to where Sammy lay curled up on her side, her small mouth slightly agape. She breathed a sigh of relief and sank back against the couch. “What the hell was that?!”
“That,” Catey said with a tiny giggle, “was Christy.”
“What?” Raph and Andrea said in unison, both looking equally confused.
“Weeeell, Donnie came tearin’ through here, carrying Christy and I think they went to his room and…,” she trailed off with a suggestive note.
Raph was the first to recover from the initial shock of hearing his brainy brother had just gotten laid. “Wow, didn’t realize the little nerd had it in him.”
Andrea recovered not long after. “I can’t believe she beat me!”
Mikey, Catey and Raph all turned to stare at the indignant blond and Sammy startled in her sleep but did not wake up.
“She…beat you?” Raph asked, one brow ridge arching in question.
“What? Oh shit, I just said that out loud, didn’t I? That probably didn’t sound good. Um…what I meant was…well…”
Seeing her friend struggle, Catey quickly took over the situation. “What she meant was that she can’t believe Christy beat her because Drea’s kind of the more sexually experienced one in the group and thought she’d be the first one getting some Raph lovin’. That sound about right Drea?”
Through her explanation, Andrea’s face had grown progressively pink. She buried her face in hands, groaning, “Why did I wake up?”
Next to her, Raph couldn’t help grinning. That was good to know. Especially after she’d teasingly told him to ‘have fun waiting.’ He opted not to make her even more uncomfortable and changed the subject instead. “How long we been asleep?”
“Bout an hour, bro,” Mikey said.
“Leo and Kris still gone?”
“Yeah. Haven’t seen them at all.” Mikey cast his brother a worried look. “Think he’s still alive?”
“I’m sure he is,” Andrea replied with a yawn. She leaned against Raph and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, his fingers drawing slow lines over her sleeve. She closed her eyes, giving into the drowsiness that still plagued her. “Kris’s not the killing type. She might be mad, but she still likes him.”
“Too bad,” Raph said jokingly.
The four fell into content silence, eyes fixated on the screen where Catey was making swift work of Mikey’s video game character. Raph soon grew bored though and, sensing that Andrea was falling asleep on him again, he lowered his head to hers. “You fallin’ asleep on me again?” She mumbled her affirmative and he laughed softly. “So, why are you teasin’ me about waitin’ if you don’t want to?”
She groaned and elbowed him lightly, muttering a sleepy “shut up.”
“What,” he drawled. “You know, I could make you scream a lot louder than that…and a lot longer.”
He waited for her to hit him with some witty, teasing quip. But what hit him first was the quick change in her scent. The shift was dramatic. One minute she was drowsy and hardly there, the next she was fully aroused and quickly taking him with her.
She shifted so that she was facing him more and lifted her gaze to his. There was no teasing glint in their turbulent blue depths. Just a need that mirrored his own. Her tiny, questioning sigh was all the permission needed for him to lower his mouth to hers and take what he wanted. Or at least take what he could for the moment. He traced the line of her jaw, then buried his hand in her thick blond hair, his mouth moving slowly over hers.
“Wow, get a room guys,” Christy joked with a giggle as she and Donnie walked into the living room area, hand-in-hand.
The two broke apart, slightly irritated with the interruption and glared at the couple.
“You should talk,” Andrea said with a knowing smirk.
“No shit. Walls ain’t soundproof brainiac, you might wanna fix that.”
Christy’s mouth dropped open and Donnie blushed furiously, looking anywhere but at his two laughing brothers.
“Oh, you guys are horrible,” Christy grouched, coming around the couch and plopping down next to Raph. He continued grinning at her and she lightly punched his arm, mumbling for him to ‘piss off.’
“Me piss off? You’re the one who interrupted us! You piss off!” He laughed and nudged her with his elbow.
“Both of you piss off and keep it down!” Andrea hissed, casting a look at Sammy who had started to stir. Her little head suddenly popped up and she looked around, disorientated. “Ugh,” Andrea rolled her eyes but couldn’t help smiling. “Thanks you two.”
Sammy found her mother amongst the faces sat up, turning to face her and holding out her little arms. As Andrea picked her up and placed her on her lap, Donnie sat down on the recliner opposite Mikey and Catey. He tried to ignore his older brothers knowing look, then finally gave up. “What, Raph?”
“Nothin’. Just…try to keep it down next time, will ya?”
“Why? Jealous?” he asked, unable to stop himself from grinning.
That whipped the cocky look right off of Raph’s face and Donnie congratulated himself for being able to do something he’d been trying to for 27 years. He didn’t miss the roll of Andrea’s eyes and it was enough to make him feel slightly chastised. But only slightly. The rest of him was still in a euphoric haze that no one could possibly ruin.
“Leo and Kris still missing?”
Catey hit pause on the video game and set her controller aside. “Yeah. I’m getting kind of worried.”
“I wouldn’t be.” Andrea turned so that her back was resting against the arm of the couch and Sammy was propped against her chest. “Kris can hold her own. And she’s not the kind of woman to leave something unresolved.” Keeping one arm around Sammy, she stretched the other far over her head and groaned as a few of her vertebra popped. “What time is it?”
“10:20,” Mikey supplied after a quick look at the VCR.
“I don’t have any lunch for Sammy,” she murmured, thinking aloud. “I think I’m going to head back to our place so I can get her fed.”
“I’ll go with you,” Christy said, standing up and taking Sammy so that Andrea could stretch and get her things together.
“Will you be back?” Donnie asked, an undertone of anxiety in his voice that only Christy heard.
She turned and smiled at him. “Sure. But I don’t really know my way back.”
He stood up and walked over to her, slipping something out of his belt and holding it out. “Here, just call when you’re ready and I’ll come and get you. If you just hit the page button, it will call one of my brother’s phones, so I’ll get the message.”
Christy shifted Sammy to her hip and took the cellular device. “Now that’s convenient. Thanks hun. You ready Drea?”
The older woman was obviously recounting every item packed in her head, making sure there was nothing she was forgetting. “Hardly took anything out really,” she muttered to herself. “Diapers, wipes, cheerios….”
“You’ll have to forgive her,” Catey said, smiling in understanding at her oldest friend. “Mommyhood’s been rough on her memory so she’s always running over check lists in her head when leaving places.”
“Drea babe, if you forget anything, we’ll get it back to you,” Mikey supplied helpfully.
She looked up, an expression of exhaustion and confusion on her face. “I’m sorry…what?”
“Oooh yes, we’re taking you home sweetie,” Christy chuckled, sliding an arm around Andrea’s shoulders. “And I’ll watch Sammy so that you can get in a nice, long nap. Sound good?”
Andrea could only manage a tired nod and grateful look before she leaned over the back of the couch and draped her arms over Raph’s shoulders, kissing his cheek and telling him that she would see him later.
Christy put her arm around Andrea’s shoulders again, more so to help guide her out of the lair and to their car than anything else. Every move she made screamed of weariness and Christy didn’t want the poor girl to walk into a wall in her current state.
She took care of putting Sammy in her car seat while Andrea clamored into the passenger seat, looking so ungraceful as she flopped down and sprawled that Christy couldn’t help giggling.
“Yeesh,” she said once she was strapped into the driver side and turning the key in the ignition. “One would think talking was the last thing you two did last night.”
Andrea hummed and rested her knees against the dashboard. “Nope, not as lucky as some people,” she said, cutting a sly glance at her friend. “So are you going to spill?”
Christy contemplated it for a minute, just to tease her, then released a long, blissful sigh. “You know how many times I’ve said your smut is just amazing? Well honey, as amazing as it is…its nothing compared to the real deal!”
Andrea chuckled tiredly and rolled her eyes. “You know Christy, not gonna lie…I’m a little envious.”
“Aww, don’t worry D, you’ll get yours. Leave it to Auntie Christy.”
“Leave what to Auntie Christy?” the older woman asked on a yawn.
Christy simply gave her friend a look that said ‘you’ll see’ and left it at that. Too tired to argue her way into an answer to a question she wasn’t sure she wanted the answer to anyway (she never trusted that devious look on Christy…the girl had a creative streak that rivaled her own) Andrea yawned again and sunk low into her seat, fighting off sleep until they reached the hotel.
Once there, Christy immediately pushed her in the direction of her room, demanding that she go and get some sleep and leave “the little pop tart” to her. Andrea grumbled but complied with the demands. She was seriously sleep deprived and no one could be a good parent on three hours of sleep. She rattled off directions for lunch, a time for Sammy’s second nap, all the while letting Christy shove her into her bedroom.
“Drea…nanny, remember? I got it. Trust me and get some damn sleep woman!”
Andrea gave her friend a cheeky look and stuck out her tongue. “Yes mom.”
“Oh, real mature. Get your ass to bed.”
Laughing softly, Andrea shut the door and turned to her unmade bed. No mutant turtle waiting for her there. Damn. Guess she would just have to make the best of an okay situation. She stumbled to her bed, clumsily ripping off her shirt and shoving her jeans down her legs. She crawled on her knees over the mattress, dragging her blanket up over her in the process and when her head hit the pillow, she was fast asleep.
