Hey all! I know some of you must be getting impatient what with the complete lack of naughtiness but i promise there is smut on its way, in fact there may just be a little bit o' naughty in the next chapter (which i should have posted by the end of the week. For now here is chapter 5!
Chapter 5
A lot had happened in such a short time. Almost too much to process, it had all started with Leo coming crashing through a window, and then there was running, and fighting, and healing, and more fighting, and now his master was gone.
She had plagued his thoughts the whole time, he didn’t have anyway to tell her what happened or why he was gone. He wondered if she was hurt or worried or if she had even noticed him gone, he had wanted to see her the minute they returned to New York but that would have lost them the element of surprise. Now there was nothing left to hide their enemy was gone and frankly he needed help.
They were all searching the city so for once there was no sneaking required , he contemplated brining her an apology coffee but decided against it he doubted she would still being sitting on the ledge waiting for him . He was right, she was in none of her usual spots, he search through the bad neighborhoods and all her known haunts to no avail.
“Fuck” He cursed lightly, he was never much for profanity but the situation seemed to call for it.
He was out of ideas there was nothing left to do but turn around and go home.... wait... home! He was an idiot! He knew where she lived, well not exactly but close enough to stand a good chance of finding her. He turned and sprinted off the direction of the roof top he had last seen her on hoping his luck was about to improve.
**
She hadn’t felt like patrolling tonight she was too frustrated, too wound up to concentrate on things as serious as all that. Instead she had suited up and went for a run, well more of a jump, she had recently acquired a new toy. There was apparently over 1,000 feet of thin steel cord wound around the core of the arm piece, she found that hard to believe with how thin the piece was, it was barely noticeable under the leather glove. Attached to the end was a magnetically charged clip that was supposed to stick to anything metal and hold several tons of weight.
The basics of the design was far from original in fact another masked acquittance of hers used a similar line made of rope. However she was proud to say that comparing the two was like comparing a telegraph to a cell phone, she couldn’t wait to rub it in his face.
All for all the test had been a success, granted her first few attempts had made her stomach flip flop and she had almost smacked into a building but after an hour or so she had it down. She spent another hour enjoying the burn, running and jumping and swinging her way across the skyline avoiding all her usual paths.
By the time she finally decided to head for home she was finally feeling her mood start to lift, that was until she noticed a familiar figure on her favorite landing pad.
She suddenly felt the rush of tension return to her as she swept in for a silent landing behind him.
“You’ve got some nerve!”
**
He never heard her land and the sound of her voice made him jump.
“Geez you scared me” He started but she cut him off.
“What are you doing here friend” She snipped putting extra malice into the last word.
He supposed he had that coming, at least from her perspective. He had nagged and bugged and practically begged and she had finally broken down and offered a small hint of friendship and he had promptly vanished the next day.
“I came to apologize” It wasn’t exactly a lie, he had planned on smoothing things over with her before asking for help.
“For what?” She questioned in a sarcastic tone.
“Listen” He began “ It’s just that.... well....a lots happened” He paused for a response but she offered none so he launched into the story.
“Well you see I have a brother, well four actually, and we were staying with a friend of ours April.... she’s human” He added the last as an after thought, although he wasn’t sure why.
“We were hiding, see there’s kinda a clan of ninjas that want us dead and they found my brother and...” He trailed off a moment, the image of his battered brother coming flying through the window still disturbed him today like it had happened yesterday.
“Well lets just say they didn’t give him flowers and ask him to the prom”
**
She listen silently to the long rambling story. An injured brother, a lost home, healing in the country, the longer he went on the worse she felt.
“... and now my masters missing” He finished, his face was a weird mix of unreadable emotions.
She wasn’t sure what to say. He had just confessed a heck of a lot, he had brothers and a master, he had put a name to his enemy.
“Uh .. So I’m a really big bitch” She offered. He chuckled a little and she felt the tension between them ease.
“You say that like its something new”
She laughed, damn that was good. Normally she would have offered up a snide retort but she thought he had earned the victory.
“Im sorry if I made you worry” He said seriously changing the mood again.
“Here” He said walking towards holding out a small slip of paper. She took it from him and unfolded it, scribbled across it was a series of numbers “ Its my cell” He explained “ In case you ever need to yell at me in a more timely fashion”
She half smiled at the scrap of paper, it was a pretty decent peace offering all things considered. She tucked it into her pocket wondering absently if he expected her to return the gesture. When she glanced up to try and read his expression she found he was already walking away.
“I have to go” He said “My master”
She nodded, feeling a small stab of grief. His life had been turned upside down and torn apart, she could relate.
“Mike?” She called after him stopping the turtle mid step “Do you need any help?”
**
She spent the next week helping Mike scour the city, she felt she owed it to him in return for all the trust he’d show her, but for all her efforts he always seemed one step ahead. He had met one of his brothers, Raphael who seemed especially gruff and grumpy but she supposed at a time like this it was excusable.
Mike on the other hand was in better spirits than he had been on the night of his return, he seemed so confident that her help would make a difference. She wondered if it would or not in the long run, she really was trying her hardest to be of help but each time she came close to offering extra help or giving him a bit of personal information her jaded side would kick and stop the thought in its tracks.
She had finished her final lap for the evening and headed back to the rendevous to see if her green side kick had been any more successful.
“Any luck?” She questioned landing neatly on the ledge.
“Nothing” He said in a tight voice shaking his head “ I think he may really be gone”
She didn’t have much practice in relating on personal basis which made his sad expression all that more difficult to deal with.
“It’s a big city Mike” She offered lamely.
He just nodded “I better head for home, see if the guys had anymore luck”
He trudged off towards the fire escape looking tired and worn, he paused half way “Thanks for trying Chaos”
She wasn’t sure what compelled her to say it and she would curse herself for it for days to come, it was a huge risk.
“Abby” She called after him causing him to stop again.
“Abby” He repeated with a smile his mood showing some improvement.
She nodded pleased to see the tiny bit of info had made the desired effect, she only hoped she wouldn’t come to regret it.
