Gotham City Crime Lab,
It took Harvey a while to find Scott Riley, after leaving the elevator he stopped the first person he saw, a wire haired, unshaven man with sweat rings under both of his fat arms and asked where he could find Scott Riley. The man looked at Harvey and rolled his eyes then shrugged and pointed down one long corridor before barging pass Harvey to get into the lift. The next two people were more articulate, and directed him in a more coherent direction; Harvey noted the rolling of eyes at the man’s name and stored it away for later. When he tapped on the door that made up the small dining and staff room the man who looked up quickly from a collection of scattered images was not what Harvey had expected. The man, was perhaps twenty five maybe younger, his hair a deep red that was unkempt in a manner that Harvey thought was the height of fashion at the moment. A pair of black glasses framed his face the eyes that met his were hazel and full of suspicion, “Detective Bullock?” Riley asked.Harvey walked into the room, “That’s me kid,” he responded.“Kid? I’m twenty eight.” Riley fired back, Harvey’s face pulled at surprise for a moment then he simply nodded. Riley held up a blown up image identical to the one that Harvey had only just shown Adkins and Travis, “Interesting, very interesting.”Harvey reached the table and looked down, his image had been duplicated and certain parts blown up, he could make out frantic squiggles that he assumed were the kid’s handwriting, “Well I am glad it’s brightened up your day. What can you tell me about it?”Riley placed the blown up image on top of the other haphazard pieces of paper, “I wish I could tell you I had the answer…” Harvey groaned and rubbed at his face, “Detective let me finish. I have never seen anything like this before, but,” Harvey stopped rubbing his face and looked over at the kid, “this here. This I have seen before.”Riley handed another blow up over to Harvey who took it and sighing took a look, he rotated it left, then again and then a third time before Riley snatched it and turned it the right way. “Okay I see a circle within a diamond, what do you see?”“The exact same thing as you, I told you I have no idea what this is, but I have seen it before.” Harvey stared at the kid and finally raised his eyebrows beckoning him to carry on, “Oh right, okay, well about a year ago another case landed on my lap. The layout kind of matches yours, missing organs, very clean body,” As he talked Riley reached down and lifted a manila folder from off a chair and opened it up. “If I had not seen that image I would have not been able to connect the two,” Riley reached into the folder and produced another image and slid it across the table to Bullock.Bullock looked down, his brow creased, he took a look at the image he still held then placed it next to the one Riley had just produced. The size and colour were different, the walls in both images varied, plaster board on Harvey’s, concrete breeze block on Riley’s. But the design was identical, “There identical.”“Yep but from two different crime scenes, thirteen months apart,”As he spoke, Harvey stared at one image then at the next and back again, “you said the same MO, organs gone, body clean…”“Thirteen months ago the victim was a Chinese business man, compared to your Caucasian female this time round. The first image was found when they began to move some of the boxes around the victim, they found it by total accident, and can I ask where you found yours?”“None of your business Riley, what else do you know?”Riley continued unfazed, “Gotham Yakuza were fingered for the business man’s death and four others, organ harvesting apparently. No arrests were ever made as far as I know, no one bothered to ask me about the significance of the diagram so I just filed it all away.”Harvey scooped up both images and pocketed them ignoring Riley’s’ protests as he did so, “Who’s case was it?”Major Crimes Squad, Twelfth Floor GCPDHarvey knew of Detective Joshua Allen by word of mouth only, they had never met, which was the way Harvey liked it with most of the detectives in the GCPD and since going straight, he wanted to know even less of them. Harvey trusted Travis but Travis was off the case, Harvey had no interest in telling another detective about what he was working on but as he approached the unsuspecting Joshua Allen he kept telling himself that he had no choice, from what he knew Joshua Allen was more than likely on the side of good but he did not truly know for certain, worse was good old Harvey Bullocks reputation went before him so chances were Joshua Allen probably knew a lot about Harvey Bullock, some if it might actually be true. Joshua Allen looked up from his computer screen when Harvey took the seat opposite his desk, “Can I help you?” Allen asked taking his glasses off his thin face and resting them next to the keyboard, he absently ran a hand through his short blonde hair as the big man took a seat.“I’m detective Harvey Bullock.”Allen gave an easy smile his blue eyes reflecting its ease, “I know who you are Bullock, a man with your reputation makes it difficult not to know who you are.” Allen reached over the counter his hand extended, “Your arrest and conviction rate these last few months have been something else.”Harvey took the offered hand begrudgingly, he could not tell if Allen was messing with him or truly meant what he had said, either one annoyed Harvey anyway, “Coming from a major crimes detective that must be difficult to say.”Allen shrugged, “More hours, more headaches and an arrest rate that barely clears double figures some years. But I would not change it for the world you know?” Harvey shrugged, “What can I do for you detective?” Allen said getting down to business.“Thirteen months ago you covered a killing of a Chinese businessman, possible yakuza connection…”Allen was nodding and cut right in, “Right, right, the organ harvesting case. Five vics’ no convictions just a lot of possible’s and maybe’s. You looking at opening up cold cases Harvey you might burn a few fingers.” Harvey reached into his jacket and pulled out the two images, he handed them over. Allen looked at them briefly then grabbed his glasses, “This one I know,” he held up the originally image, “This other one though, this is new isn’t it? Tied in with your Vandergilt case?”“News travels fast and yes.” Harvey had landed a big case by sheer accident it was no secret that Akins was fuming at his lest desirable detective was working it. “I need to know how these two might be connected.”Allen placed the images on his desk and rested a finger on both, “You remember when the Yakuza boss Eiji Hasegawa was at deaths door, inoperable lung cancer. Well it seems some bright spark decided that Hasegawa could be saved with a Lung transplant, an offer of three million dollars was pledged to whoever could provide a suitable donor.” Harvey nodded, “Yeah it was big news for about a day until it turned out to be a hoax.”“No hoax, it was real I have five bodies to prove it.” Harvey gave a long slow whistle, “the last vic’ the businessman was slightly different, cleaner and more precise removal but by then it was clear a couple of gangs were trying to pocket the reward. Hasegawa died a few days later and no surprise no more bodies turned up.”‘A dead end’ Harvey thought, he gave a sigh and reached back over for the images, Allen let them go reluctantly and he bit his lower lip as the images slipped back into Harvey’s jacket. “What about the drawing where does all that fit in?”“A Yakuza drawing, graffiti, maybe it had nothing to do with the case, we did not find anything like it at the other crime scenes.” Allen said turning his gaze back to his computer. “I should know I walked the grid again on all five scenes.”‘Careful now, do not slip up!’ the words were like a sudden intense headache and Harvey reached up with both hands squeezing the sides of his head, “Fuck that hurts.”Allen looked shocked at Harvey’s sudden cry of pain, “You okay Bullock?”The words had come from within his head at an amplified volume, but the voice that had spoken them was clearly Detective Joshua Allen. The pain drained away like water down a plug hole and within seconds all seemed right again, “Migraine maybe, don’t worry.” Harvey said, his throat very dry, he spared a glance at Detective Allen, beneath the noise of the station Harvey could make something else out, a silent mumble as if a party had gathered close by but everyone had been told to talk in whispers. “Thanks for your time Josh.” Harvey said and stood up, Harvey had no doubt that he had just been lied to.“What do you think of that?” Joshua said to himself watching the bulky form of Harvey Bullock trudge through the office space of the Major Crime department, he watched a couple of the detectives elbow one another, something was said and a smirk broke out on the other detectives face, he shook his head as he offered his own thoughts on Harvey Bullock, “The man’s a damn joke.” Joshua said out loud and with a little a bit of sadness in his tone. This was his first encounter with Harvey Bullock and it had not been what he had expected. The man was certainly unfit, and if his Captain ever got him to do a physical Harvey would no doubt be dropped from the force. Harvey’s face still carried the scars from the Chemical factory fire one cheek looked like the snapshot of the moon even under the fuzz of a ten day beard. So Harvey was overweight, unclean, possibly on the take, possibly not if the new rumours were true yet Commissioner Gordon had his back, Detective Harvey Bullock was a protected species. Now Joshua Allen, he was the other side of the coin, young, fit and not on the take. His mother had spilled him out two months premature when his dad had decided she would make a good punching bag. Joshua had fought through life ever since, from birth, through high school, through College. Quantico was a sore subject, but he had learnt what he needed and when he had to move on, well he moved on right to the East coast and into Gotham City.Joshua had somehow brought up the Triad case on his computer screen, his mind was elsewhere yet his fingers had tripped over the keyboard of their own accord and brought up the case that had troubled him ever since. Joshua stared at the image of Yang Jun the business man found dead, of all the bodies found this one had always stood out. He had questioned it, perhaps a little too hard and the next thing you know the case was dismissed, closed down, from up on high it seemed. And that was where Joshua’s itch began. Slow at first, evidence was hard to come by, but he had walked the scene again and found more details, kept them to himself asked questions below the radar, dug up old cases again beneath the radar, one eye always looking behind…Gotham City opened up to Joshua and showed him what lay beneath. His computer terminal pinged Joshua gave a grim smile it would not take a genius to guess who was accessing the Yang Jun casefile. “You sir, are tenacious.”Vandergilt homeThe black suit was appropriate, but to Harvey everything else about Warren Vandergilt was off. Harvey found the big old mansions of Gotham less than impressive, a lot of open spaces filled with not a lot of anything just like the people who live in them Harvey had once noted to a bar full of drunk cops. The Vandergilt mansion was no different, though the coffin that sat in the grand hall made it stand out from the other mansions. All the downstairs windows as far as Harvey could tell were covered in thick black rolls of fabric. Some of the indoor lights were on creating an oddly cosy feel to the place.Warren had personally met Harvey at the door, they had shaken hands and Warren quickly led Harvey away from the other mourners past the kitchen where four chefs were working and down a long oak panelled corridor to Warren’s home office. It was when Warren sat down behind his expansive mahogany desk that Harvey noticed the contradictions. The suit told the story of a man in mourning, the grim stern look the same. Warren’s eyes however seemed to move constantly, if this were an interrogation room Harvey would have said Warren was a guilty man…but what was he guilty of. “I won’t keep you long Warren I just need to check a couple of things with you and I will be on my way.”“That’s okay Harvey it is good to know you are still working on the case, I doubt many others would be so ensconced in it as you still are.” Warren discreetly looked at his watch as he spoke.Harvey had brought with him a few copies of the shrine; he was now loathed to show them all, there was something about Warren that made him feel uneasy, when Harvey had first found Laura Beth he had been filled with that same feeling that somehow Warren was tied into it all, that feeling had ebbed but now it was racing back. “You said Laura Beth bummed around for a few years then decided she was coming home,” This took Warren by surprise the man looked up from his watch his brow furrowed and he nodded slowly, “You said when she called she sounded scared, did she say anything more, names, places?”Warren shook his head slowly, “She mentioned a Billy that she had met and was staying with, but like I told you she was already in Gotham.”‘Billy! Now where did that come from?’ Harvey thought, there had been no mention of him when that had first talked. “No last name?” Warren shook his head. Harvey knew he was dancing around producing the drawings, something just did not feel right, he had felt it since leaving Joshua Allen, something niggled in his brain, a whisper that would not go away. “What do you know about this?” Harvey handed over the close up spiral and square image from the shrine. Harvey noted Warren swallowing hard, a slight wince in one eye, “graffiti?”“This one too,” Harvey handed the next drawing over this one was from the businessman’s crime scene from over a year ago. Harvey watched Warren’s grip tighten, his eyes dancing from image to image. “It’s the same drawing Harvey, I don’t understand?” Warren handed them back as if just holding them caused him discomfort.Harvey held up the shrine spiral and square, “I recovered this at the apartment Laura Beth was found, it was mostly washed away but I managed to get this atleast” Harvey lied like the best of them and he had decided not to share the whole shrine image the moment he saw Warren’s reaction to the spiral, “this second one, that is over a year ago. It was found at the murder scene of a Chinese businessman named Yang Jun, found by accident believe it or not.”“They were killed by the same person? Who is it?” Warren asked leaning on his desk.“I was hoping you could help with that, Yang Jun remains a cold case and without any leads Laura Beth could end up the same, so if you know anything Warren now is the time to speak.” Harvey had given the man an open invitation.Warren opened his hands, “I told you everything I know Detective, if there was more I would have handed it over a long time ago.”Harvey picked up on the Detective; the man was already practicing for the interrogation room. The invite had been declined. “Okay Warren, well if you think of anything, a name, a place, just call me okay?”“You now I will Harvey,” Warren said standing up. He walked to the office door, eager to be rid of his guest. He led Harvey back through the house neither exchanged any words as they went. When they had reached the front door Warren turned and asked, “Do you need a taxi, I assume you still refuse to drive a car in this city?”“No need to trouble yourself, I got a cab here he’s still outside on the clock.” replied Harvey. The handshake between them was perfunctory and emotionless. Harvey did not bother to look over his shoulder as he walked over to the yellow cab the sound of the large front door slamming shut told him all he needed to know.Harvey opened the door on the cab a crazy Indian soundtrack assaulting him for a moment until the cab driver lowered the volume, before he climbed in Harvey had a glance at the road beyond the tree lined driveway of the Vandergilt Mansion. The banged up little car that had followed him out of Gotham was still sat a ways down the road and that was much more intriguing. Joshua Allen took his time tailing Bullock he had tailed perps all over Gotham and now had the skill down to a fine art. The yellow cab made it a bit more interesting as it joined other cabs of the same colour or crossed paths of others, but the traffic was light and the only excitement that he experienced was when the cab took a sudden left and he lost it for two blocks.Joshua thought he had done a good job of giving Harvey plenty of information without actually giving him any. But seeing that drawing again somewhere new had gotten him excited, the six were coming up for air which meant something big was on the horizon. When Harvey had accessed the Yang Jun file Joshua’s curiosity in the man got the better of him and Joshua had followed Harvey all the way to the Vandergilt mansion. The visit was swift and Harvey had headed back into the heart of the city. Joshua caught up with the taxi just as Harvey was climbing out of it next to an Irish bar.Joshua pulled his car over mounting the curb and coming to a stop, he watched in the rear view mirror as Harvey paid then slowly walked into the bar. The bar door was only just starting to close when Josh sped from his car, ignoring the long held honk of a passing sedan as he crossed the road. Josh pulled the door to the bar open and slipped in his eyes dealing with the sudden murk badly. He looked around for any sign of Harvey and caught the glimpse of the bars rear door closing, “Damn it!” Joshua hissed as the realisation that he had been made hit home. He dashed down past the narrow bar, and used his shoulder to barge the door open. He stumbled into a dirty alleyway, black bags piled on either side and the smell of rotten bar food was redolent in the air, Josh had hardly turned to look down the alleyway when he felt cold metal on the back of his head and the sound of a hammer being cocked. “How the hell did you make detective grade when you don’t check your corners Josh?” Harvey chuckled.Harvey led Joshua to a small booth and both men sat down, Harvey caught the attention of the surely bar man and pointed to one beer tap and held up two fingers before turning his attention back to Detective Joshua Allen. “I made you before we even got out of Gotham, if that’s of any comfort.”“No not really, and we are on the clock so no beer for me thanks.” Joshua retorted still feeling sore from being caught so easily.Harvey shrugged and waited for the beers to arrive, both men sat in silence until the barman unceremoniously put the two glasses filled with amber liquid and a thick white head on the table. “So I’ll be Father Bullock and you can be the little sinner about to confess lying to a police officer.”Joshua pulled his glass over, the contents spilling over his fingers as he did so, he tutted and wiped his hand on his trousers, “I didn’t lie, I gave you what you asked for on the Triad case, I just didn’t give you the whole story.”Harvey pulled his glass close and wrapped both hands around it, his fingers interlocking. “I have a dead girl with no real leads, I needed everything you had and you’re holding back even now, you know something you are not telling me. I think we call that perverting the course of justice?”“Looks who’s talking,” Joshua barked out a laugh, “I know your track record Bullock who doesn’t? You are not screwing up my investigation just so you can line your pockets.” Harvey’s face darkened and he lowered his head, he could feel Joshua stiffening up opposite him, the man expected to be punched and hard. Harvey counted to ten then looked back up, “investigation? I thought that case was closed, filed away?” Harvey still wanted to slug the kid but that would get him nowhere. Joshua swallowed hard and shifted uncomfortably in his seat, “Open or closed I don’t want you of all people tampering with it.”“Tampering?” Harvey was stunned by the accusation, it took him a moment to realise that perhaps Joshua’s accusation came from Harvey’s past behaviour. “You got me all wrong Josh, I’m not that guy.” The word anymore stuck in his throat.Joshua wanted to believe the gorilla of a man sat opposite him if he could believe him the chances of being beaten to a pulp were greatly reduced. Joshua swallowed hard, “What happened to you?”The cold glass felt good in Harvey’s hands, all it would take would be a tightening of his muscles to get the glass from the scratched and pitted table to his dry lips, he could smell the liquid and that made his mouth fill with saliva, Harvey had not touched a drop of alcohol in six months. “You know about the Axis fire?” Harvey turned his chin and highlighted his scarred cheek, “I had time to think about a lot in my hospital bed, I had a second chance at life and I decided not waste it.” Harvey had never told anyone the story not the whole thing Travis knew part of it, Rosa a little bit more. The cops at GCPD probably had a hundred stories about it and Harvey wondered which one Joshua Allen had heard. “Bullshit!” Joshua spat out and folded his arms.Harvey shrugged, “how about this, I was saved by a man I have spent years trying to kill. Had a visit off Carmine Falcone’s son and I shot him down, signed my own death warrant in one short conversation. I am not lying when I say I got a second chance and I am doing my damn best to make up for every single fuck up I have ever done with the first, and brother that ledger is full.”Joshua took all this in, he had known Harvey Bullock to be a crooked cop but a damn clever one, even internal affairs tried to get him, numerous times and nothing ever stuck. The man before him now in a dark, smelly Irish bar seemed to be someone else. Joshua was at a dead end what if Harvey Bullock could be the one to help him out of the labyrinth? “This city has more faces than Harvey Dent you know?”Bullock snorted a laugh, the kid had hit the nail on the head, “You don’t know half of it.” He unlaced his fingers from around his glass and began to turn it in slow circles, “You been here what three years, how many times have you been offered a bribe, ten, twenty, thirty times?” Joshua shrugged, his own beer forgotten for the moment, “You are stronger than me and that’s good, this city will eat you alive if you let it.” Harvey pushed his glass of beer away, “I have not had a sip of alcohol in six months, you know why?” Harvey did not wait for an answer, “Because I need to be strong.”Joshua nodded and pushed his own watered down beer away, “You said I don’t know this city, but I think I know more than you do.”Harvey gave a good natured laugh, “Is that right?”“Court of Owls, how much do you know about them?” Joshua shot back quickly.Harvey cocked his head to one side, “The court of what now?”Now it was Joshua’s turn to laugh, “We can help each other Harvey, you just stepped into something bigger than you realise,” he grabbed a napkin and wrote his address hurriedly across the paper surface, “This is my place, bring whatever you have on your case here and I will open your eyes.”Joshua Allen’s Apartment,
The apartment was a stone’s throw from the narrows, hell the air smelled of the narrows as Harvey got out of his cab. If Joshua Allen was on the take the man was good at keeping a low profile and hiding his money, Harvey found the intercom system next to the door and pressed the buzzer, “Hey Harvey doors broken anyway so just come on up.” Joshua’s voice replied tinny and scratchy through the old speaker.Harvey pushed the security door open, noting that the locking mechanism was missing. He looked at the lift and decided the stairs were a safer option. Harvey was out of breath by the time he got to the third floor, the climb had given him time to think, there was no way this was where Joshua Allen truly spent his nights and days off if he took them. Harvey had stepped over one drunk passed out in a puddle of his own piss half way up the second set of stairs, and here on the third floor half the lights were not working. He knocked on the door and a crack appeared with Joshua Allen peering through, when he saw that it was indeed Harvey he pulled the door wide and invited the man in.The apartment was tiny, a living room and kitchen made up the main living space a door opened onto a bedroom that held only boxes and another door that was currently closed led no doubt to a bathroom, “I thought as much.” Joshua looked at Harvey questioningly, “You don’t live here, what is this place.” Joshua spread his arms and motioned to the walls of the living room.Plastered across the surface was a large map of Gotham city and its outlying regions, other parts of the wall had photocopies of books, magazines, newspaper articles. Some photographs were pinned on others, words written in a red sharpie or a blue, crisscrossed here and there across nearly everything. “It’s my own office space.” Joshua said watching Harvey take it all in.Harvey placed his files on the kitchen counter and shrugged off his coat as he looked around, “You need to explain all this, this is a lot of work.” Harvey slowly walked the room.“It started with the death of Yang Jun,” Joshua began and Harvey nodded. “His body was different from the others, the placement, and the state he was in. The other four linked together, Yang Jun stood out like a sore thumb.”Harvey nodded, “Let me guess, all organs missing, blood drained and body scrubbed clean.”“Yeah, the other four were missing their lungs the brutality of the act was gross. With Yang Jun it was ballet compared to the butchery of the others.” Joshua picked up Harvey’s files his fingertips tingled with excitement at what possibly laid within the plain cover. “The graffiti as they called it, I was told that was all it was and not to go any further. I never had a case closed and binned so quickly, it just didn’t feel right.”“So you’re telling me this whole room is an offshoot of Yang Jun.” Harvey saw the folders in Joshua’s hands and quickly slipped them from him, tucking them under his arm for safe keeping.“Yes! This is what I have been holding back from you, you’re the only other person who knows about all this. I thought maybe the Triads had a couple of higher ranking officers in their pockets, that’s where I was going to start, but the circle and diamond drawing, that really got me going, that opened doors…” Joshua swallowed hard, “Your drawing, that was a close up but I could see at the edges there was more to it, I need to see it Harvey.”Harvey took a slow turn around on the spot, taking in the whole room there was more information here than he would normally have on a case the kid had certainly taken the bull by the horns on this one. Harvey took the folders from under his arm and flipped one open, he fingered through a few pages then handed a folded sheet over to Joshua. “That was found behind a wardrobe in the apartment where Laura Beth Vandergilt was living, most of the image had been washed away, an abrasive cleaner used but a combined spectrograph brought out most of the detail.”Joshua took the sheet, “Spectograph? Who in GCPD did you bribe to get that?” Joshua looked down as he opened the paper and failing to notice the awkward silence from Harvey. “Holy shit!” he whispered as he stared at the blown up image. Joshua could see the dead ends receding, all of his past doubts evaporated. “Sit down,” Joshua said and took a seat himself, his head down as he sorted through the paperwork, he looked up after a moment noticing Harvey still standing, “I don’t have a power point presentation and if you want bullet points you have the wrong man so if I was you, I would sit down.” Harvey chuckled and pulled out a seat opposite the young man and sat down.Joshua gathered his thoughts then starting with what Bullock had just handed him he began to talk, “What you have here is very old, very rare and very contentious. In eighteen forty nine Austen Laylard found a long forgotten civilisation in southern Mesopotamia, he found relics and writings. He listed them and took drawings and rubbings one in particular is what you have here. It survived for about three weeks before it went missing, the tablet the rubbing was taken from also vanished. As far as anyone knew Austen Laylard was the first westerner to set eyes on this tablet and its depiction. That changed a few years later when a similar drawing was found deep below the English countryside. Guess what?”Harvey shrugged, “It disappeared?”Joshua smiled, “Well done detective, like its brother it disappeared. Now the one Laylard found was no doubt the oldest of the two we are talking three thousand years old maybe older. The English one, on the other hand was nowhere near as old and more than likely a copy, but from where no one is really certain.”“Hang on, if these were stolen how come you know so much about them?”Joshua grabbed a book, the leather was split, the spine hardly holding the pages together, “You should go to the Gotham library Harvey, some of those books are older than this city.” Joshua opened to a page he had marked with a yellow sticky note he turned it around on the desk for Harvey to see. The image was there, the photograph was grainy, made worse by the age of the paper in the book. The stone tablet had seen better days, it had been shattered, most of the pieces were visible but huge chunks at the edges and a large one in the centre were still missing, washed away by rain and time. “Austen Laylard took photos and published this book, good luck finding other copies they have a tendency to vanish.”“Tablet looks like its seen better days, if that’s the one this Laylard did a rubbing from, then who filled in the blanks for this one from the Apartment?” Harvey asked the paper felt dry and brittle beneath his fingertips.“No one filled in those blanks, I would say without a doubt the tablet was destroyed as were the rubbings, if they had known there was photographic evidence that would have been destroyed too. The one found at the hellfire caves in England was a complete copy it has been documented if you know where to look, it was listed back then as a curiosity with a healthy dose of blasphemy on the side.”“Let’s cut the crap what are you trying to tell me?”Joshua swallowed hard, “What you have here is of religious meaning that is thousands of years old. It is from a group that would rather not be found out, they worship in the shadows. At some point in the seventeen hundreds that image travelled to England and found a new group for it to be worshipped by. Then at some point it managed to work its way across the Atlantic to us here in Gotham. Laylard stumbled across its birthplace by accident, I bet when word got out it surprised a few followers enough to get in there and clean up.”Harvey groaned and rubbed his forehead, “Are you telling me we have an ancient cult lurking in Gotham?”Joshua gave a dry laugh, “Two or three actually, but your concern right now is this one. They are big on human sacrifice,” Joshua caught the sudden glance up from Harvey the man was joining the dots now.“Okay you have me hooked, what does it all mean?” Harvey gestured grandly to the walls that enclosed them.“The text I pieced together bits and pieces from some of the history books on Sumer and Sumerian languages it is not whole and still baffling, remember no one has spoken or written this in over three thousand years, the images are a little clearer. It talks of sacrifice, of the six and of the one that opens the door or portal,” Joshua pointed to the tentacles, “A name does pop up, I think it links to this thing right here, the name is Ereshkizu, it might be Sumerian or Akkadian like I said this is old pre biblical text.”“So how do we find them? How do we find the Court of Owls?” Harvey asked when Joshua remained silent. “Harvey, this is not the court of owls, this is older and darker than that.” Joshua, sat back in his chair, his throat dry from so much talking, “Even with all this here,” he made a flippant gesture with his hands to the walls around them, “I have struck a brick wall. Finding people willing to talk about it is damn near impossible, the inner circle who knows who they are but there are six of them for certain.”“Warren Vandergilt, he’s one of the six.” Harvey blurted out as if the words burnt his mouth, it sounded odd coming from him, this accusation but also the determination that he was right mixed together.“Do you know that for certain?” Joshua askedHarvey rubbed at his scars, “Yes and no, call it a hunch but all these loony little cults always have rich people at the centre. Something has felt off with Warren since this all started, I showed him the drawings and he almost had a heart attack.”“Then we get a warrant, search his home…” Joshua started as he stood up.Harvey talked over him, “There is nothing there, I was there it’s just a home,” and inside he knew he was right, he felt it, the way he had started feeling and hearing a lot lately something told him he was right just below the surface. “We follow him he’ll take us to where we need to go.”Chatham Manor
"Um, are you still there?" Elizabeth, wanted to pull the blindfold from her eyes, she felt defenseless stood there naked in the room while Miss Lansing was…well she didn’t know what she was doing and that was what worried her.“Yes, sorry,” Miss Lansing replied in a hush tone so close that it made Elizabeth jump. Elizabeth felt a hand lay gently on her hip, the hand was hot on her bare skin, “Take a few steps backward until you reach the bed.” Doing as she was told, Elizabeth took small steps backwards until her calves hit the edge of her bed. “Now, bend over the bed.”
Elizabeth did not question the command she turned around and laid on the bed propped on her elbows with her feet still on the floor. It was the silence that made the moment so unsure, Elizabeth was part excited part scared her, with the blindfold on Elizabeth had no time to prepare herself for what came, a sharp sting radiated from her bare backside as a loud meaty thwack echoed off the walls of the bedroom.
Elizabeth cried out as a second smack landed on her cheeks, this time she felt Miss Lansing’s hand remain on her stinging flesh, smoothing over the round backside her fingers toying near the crease, then dropping to between her legs, millimetres from her sex before the hand retreated leaving an odd feeling of loss on her sore backside.Elizabeth shuddered at the loss of Miss Lansing’s touch, before she could comment however a stinging blow landed across her other cheek then another one came, then another, and another. A soft massaging touch would follow followed by another smack. By the tenth swat Elizabeth’s cries had turned into moans of pleasure. The spanking aroused her in ways she had never imagined possible, before Miss Lansing sex had been mundane, boyfriends came and went before Miss Lansing had taken her.Now Elizabeth’s nipples were hard points of flesh, her pussy moist and eager, a dull ache compared to the torturous stinging pleasure that Miss Lansing was giving. The next slap was the hardest of them all, Elizabeth’s cry a mix of pleasure and pain, her arms finally gave out and she collapsed face first into the quilted duvet, the material cool on her hot and sweaty face.
“Roll over.” Miss Lansing said her breath heavy as she spoke.
Elizabeth did as she was instructed, her arms and legs wobbly as she blindly rolled onto her back, the duvet a blessing on her stinging backside. Silence followed then the right side of the bed sunk as something heavy climbed on, Elizabeth’s breath caught as she felt a presence straddle her stomach, a moist patch just beneath her belly button.
Hands were now at Elizabeth’s head, the blindfold pulled tight for a moment then loosened before finally pulling free of her eyes. Miss Lansing straddled her, her breasts heaving a golden glow about them in the candle light. Her black hair was loose and cascaded down to her shoulders, her face deep sultry eyes and almost blood red lipstick.Miss Lansing leaned forward, her hair draping around Elizabeth’s head and mixing with her mousy blonde locks. They stared into one another’s eyes, the outside world melting away until there was just the two of them. Elizabeth could see the ancient wisdom in the cold blue eyes, Elizabeth knew she was the only one that truly saw Miss Lansing for the human she once was, these moments were fleeting.Miss Lansing leaned further in, their lips almost touching then gently the kiss came, long and gentle, waxing and waning as Miss Lansing ground her hips. The gentle kiss grew deeper, their lips parting and tongues exploring as lust began to take them over. Elizabeth moaned at the feel of Miss Lansing’s large nipples rubbing against her own pert pink nipples, she lifted her head meeting Miss Lansings kiss full on.Miss Lansing broke the kiss, sitting up and with a firm hand pushing Elizabeth back down on the bed, a small smile played on her blood red lips as she ran her fingertips across Elizabeth’s face, then neck crossing her pale shoulders that puckered into goose bumps. Elizabeth gave a shuddering exhale as the fingertips ran across her breasts, cupping them both gently then letting go, moving upwards her hot palms grazing across Elizabeth’s hard pink nipples causing the woman’s body to shudder.Words were meaningless between them now Miss Lansing kneaded the soft flesh of Elizabeth’s tits. Elizabeth's breathing intensified. She let out a soft mewl as Miss Lansing played with her breasts, kneading, squeezing, the palm of her hands barely grazing her swollen nipples. Elizabeth squirmed under the ceaseless touching and Miss Lansing reveled in the torment she was delivering.Miss Lansing’s hands fell away as she moved further up Elizabeth’s body until her knees were planted on either side of her head. Miss Lansing’s hairless pussy now visible, Elizabeth could see the slow dance the tattoos were doing, languid almost imperceptible movements that made many queasy, including herself not too long ago, but now she always grew excited seeing it up close. With one hand Miss Lansing reached down one finger extending and connecting with her swollen clitoris a soft hum escaping her lips as she exhaled. Elizabeth watched as she slide two fingers inside herself with ease, making wet squishing noises as she did. Elizabeth tilted her head forward as far as she could, smelling Miss Lansing’s sweet arousal, licking her lips eager for a taste as she watched the fingers dip and stroke.Elizabeth sighed as Miss Lansing reached forward and ran one sticky finger across her partly opened lips, Elizabeth licked the residue from her lips before Miss Lansing’s finger probed and slipped into her mouth letting Elizabeth suck it clean. With a few small scoots forward Elizabeth could feel the heat coming from Miss Lansing’s toyed and ready soaked pussy. She stuck out her tongue, trying to lick the moist cunt that was perched above her lips, but it was barely out of reach. "Please," Elizabeth cried out. Elizabeth’s request was fulfilled. Miss Lansing grinned wide as she lowered herself, the grin disappearing with a long sigh as Elizabeth’s tongue ran the full length of her slit and lingered on her clitoris. She savored Miss Lansing's taste before exploring the many folds of her pussy with her slithering tongue. Elizabeth flicked her tongue repeatedly across Miss Lansing’s swollen button. Bucking against Elizabeth’s mouth, Miss Lansing moaned between short pants of breath when Elizabeth encased Miss Lansing’s clit with her mouth.Elizabeth basked in the immense pleasure she was bringing to her lover. She lapped at every drop of juice that flowed freely from Miss Lansing’s dripping sex. Each blissful cry of pleasure that came from Miss Lansing’s lips only drove Elizabeth further into a sex-crazed stupor.A scream of pure ecstasy filled the room that sent Elizabeth's mouth into overdrive. She sucked on Miss Lansing's throbbing clit hard, sending shock-waves of pleasure throughout her entire body. The pressure of Miss Lansing's thighs on Elizabeth's face deprived Elizabeth of oxygen but in that moment she didn't care. All that mattered was Miss Lansing's orgasm, and she was well rewarded as Miss Lansing cried out her release.Miss Lansing slipped down Elizabeth’s body and crawled between her legs. She leisurely ran her tongue from Elizabeth's knee to her inner thigh. Slowly, she kissed from that spot up to the light brown mass of Elizabeth’s mound. Nuzzling her nose through the fur, she blew air from her mouth directly on Elizabeth's slick button.Elizabeth cried in blissful agony and quivered as Miss Lansing traced her index finger around her aching clit. Miss Lansing sucked on her index finger then reapplied it to Elizabeth's button, harassing her further. Elizabeth bucked against her, "Please," she whimpered. Miss Lansing leaned forward, took in a deep breath, blowing a long slow breath against Elizabeth's slick pussy. The chill sent shivers up Elizabeth's entire body. "Please!" she wailed loudly.Elizabeth felt the tip of Miss Lansing's tongue graze her labia, teasing her with slow full licks. Elizabeth gasped as Miss Lansing's tongue touched her clit. Small light strokes were followed by rapid flicking of Miss Lansing's tongue while she plunged two of her fingers deep inside Elizabeth, making her gasp for air. Elizabeth moaned with utter delight, coming ever closer to orgasm. Miss Lansing lips engulfed Elizabeth's clit, suckling it, making wet sloppy noises. Elizabeth bucked against her mouth, screaming her lover's name among strings of obscenities. Elizabeth was consumed by lust as Miss Lansing ate her succulent pussy. Finally, her exquisite torture was at an end.Elizabeth wailed as her orgasm ignited deep within her, a mass of lightning and fire that consumed her very being. She came hard, Miss Lansing didn't even slow down. She continued to lick, suck, and fuck Elizabeth's quivering pussy. A few seconds later Elizabeth's orgasm returned, even harder than the first. "Fuck!" she cried, Miss Lansing doubled her efforts as if possessed. She inserted a third finger and fucked Elizabeth as fast as she could as the orgasm wrecked her body. Miss Lansing slowed down, lapping at the abundant amount of juices flowing from Elizabeth.Elizabeth's heart pounded. She could hardly catch her breath. Miss Lansing lay down next to her, arm draped across her sweat beaded abdomen and both women kissed, tasting one another as they did. The silence now was one of satisfaction; both women held one another, a light kiss here and there, their hearts slowing down, their breath returning. With four words Miss Lansing brought their escapade to an abrupt end.“A change is needed.” She said lazily, one finger circling Elizabeth’s small pale pink aerola.“What sort of change?” As she spoke the words Elizabeth’s breath fogged before her. The room span, gravity suddenly grew heavy and Elizabeth found it hard to breath, the pressure in the room made even moving her head impossible, a great black shape began to form near the door, the candle light did nothing to the black mass until it was fully formed.Mister LaVey stood at the door way, his huge hands resting on a white cane before him, his black suit drank in the light but his pale skin and bald head danced with the dim glow of the candles. The pressure lessened, and the air became breathable again. The man approached the bed as he spoke, each step carefully judged and he moved with a grace that belied his weight and his dominance. “Warren Vandergilt is coming to the end of his usefulness,” His voice deep and menacing even though he spoke quietly, “You will take his place and you will lead the six to your destiny.”It was more than Elizabeth had hoped for, the chance to be One to follow in the footsteps of her ancestors. Her naked body shivered with excitement, “What of our friend?”Mister LaVey shook his head, “His awakening is too slow, pieces are moving, ripples spreading wide and a plan is forming to allow us to make the most of our opportunity.” He lifted one hand from his cane and placed it with gentle grace onto Elizabeth’s ankle. She re-coiled at the touch, her stomach muscles tightened and she fought to hold the bile that had risen in her throat at bay. Mister LaVey smiled at her noticeable reaction, his thin lips peeled away from animalistic teeth stained yellow and black with age but never the less still deadly. “Do you accept your role?” he asked and Elizabeth nodded. “Excellent!” with that he let go of her leg and reached for his trousers.Miss Lansing smoothed Elizabeth’s hair as the woman, tensed and moved further up the bed and away from Mister Lansing as he undid he trousers. “Shhh it is an honor.” Miss Lansing cooed. Elizabeth watched as something alive unfurled below Mister LaVey’s stomach, like a tentacle it writhed between them, pale white skin and thick veins that throbbed across its girth as it moved almost of its own free will.Elizabeth let out a cry as it touched her leg, a hot and throbbing mass that began to move further up leaving behind a sticky warm stream of yellowish liquid on Elizabeth’s shin, then her knee, then her inner thigh. She looked at Miss Lansing for help, for relief but instead found a blood red smile and hateful eyes.
