Robin had convinced Raven to go to the upbeat club with him and the other Titans. At first she had refused, but when Tara showed and latched onto his arm, her face friendly and bright, Raven changed her mind.
She still had distaste for Terra, even if the rest of the Titans had accepted her back, Raven knew better than that. Raven knew what betrayal was, she lived it.
Raven sat in the dark corner of the room, watching her friends have fun. Beast Boy’s arms were locked around Terra’s waist, her golden hair flowed with the lights, as did Starfire. Starfire and Robin were close, a little too close in Raven’s opinion, but she kept her mouth shut.
She frowned, feeling a burning sensation in the middle of her forehead. She touched her bindi and shook the pain from her mind, concentrating on something else. Raven noticed Robin’s gaze upon her, as did Terra.
“Go ask Raven to dance.” Terra suggested winking at him.
Beast Boy looked between Raven and Robin, a small ball of jealousy pitted in his stomach. Had she gotten over him? He was to blame after all, once Terra returned he was happily attached to her side. Some part of him still lingered from that one kiss Raven had given him the day before she was taken.
Robin made his way to Raven, extending his hand.
“Dance?’
“I don’t dance.”
Robin faked his best pouting expression and she reluctantly agreed. He pulled her into the crowd and the two started dancing. They had eyes only for each other. The other Titans would have noticed like Beast Boy did, if they had been paying attention.
Robin led Raven to a small nook and sat down slopplishly on the couch, his arm around the back. Raven said daintily besides him, her cloak covering the best features.
“Raven, what you do say if we get out of here?” He asked with a raised eyebrow.
Raven looked at him, “They’d notice.”
Robin looked at his friends and nodded, “Yeah. But we could sneak away…”
Raven smiled at him, he grabbed her hand and both slipped out the back. She flew them to a small roof top near a steamy Chinese restaurant. He instantly latched his lips onto hers, pushing her against the warm buzzing sign that lit up the black in bright red.
Raven tilted her head as his lips made their way to her neck, his hands traveling everywhere around her perfect body.
“Don’t you two have any morals?”
Robin pulled from Raven, his eyes as wide as she’d ever seen. Slade leaned against the roof top door, his arms crossed, one leg against the flat door. Robin pulled Raven behind him and pulled out his staff.
“I thought you died.” Robin said between his clenched teeth.
“I did. Now I’m back.”
He moved from the door and looked at Raven. “You still kept the bindi didn’t you?”
Robin looked at Raven, she looked away. Why would she keep something that belonged to Slade of all people?
“Get out of here, Slade.” Robin growled, holding his ground as Slade approached.
“I’m here for what belongs to me, Robin.”
“Well you’re not taking her.”
“My boy, why on Earth do you think I’d listen to you?”
Slade was as close as possible to Robin, who stood unflinching. His eyes were firey and he was holding Raven close to him.
Slade leaned over and looked at Raven. “Is he as good as I was?”
Raven turned red and Robin ran his hard fist into the side of Slade’s face. Slade was unprepared and stumbled backwards. He looked up as Robin then socked him in the stomach and hit him on the back with his staff.
“I told you, Slade. You’re not going to….”
Slade moved swiftly and grabbed Robin’s neck, squeezing it. Robin’s staff fell to the ground, his face turning a pale color.
“Robin!” Raven called, growling at Slade.
Slade threw Robin over the edge of the building and lunged for Raven. She moved quickly and was able to knee him in the chest, causing him to fall. He looked at her and grabbed onto her ankle as she tried to run. She fell flat on her chest, the wind knocked from her.
Slade overpowered her and picked her up, slamming her into the sign, its shards falling around her. Raven’s eyes glowed as she screamed, sending him flying back into the door.
“You’ve gotten stronger.”
“You haven’t seen the half of it.”
Raven lifted herself into the air, a dark but white energy surrounded her and she blasted at Slade, sending him flying back. He tried to keep himself up, skidding across the ground, causing indentions from his feet.
Raven landed and walked up to him, her eyes glowing white.
“You’ll never harm me again.” She said with a cold stare.
Her face relaxed, eyes rolling into the back of her head as she fell forward. Slade caught her in his arms and looked down at her. He looked up and smirked under his mask.
Standing there holding a long needle was none other than Terra. Her face was glowing, watching Raven limp in Slade’s arms.
