Leonardo climbed the fire escape up to April’s living room window and knocked gently on the glass. His latest date with Lisa had been another epic disaster and his feet had carried him to April’s while he’d been deep in thought. He’d missed her a lot while she’d been gone with Splinter to Japan. It was the first time in years when he hadn’t been able to go to her for advice. He shook his head and sighed. Some leader he was…
The curtain didn’t lift, so he knocked again, a little bit louder. Maybe she had human visitors and was deliberately ignoring the window so he wouldn’t be exposed to strangers… it had happened a few times before. He was about to turn and go when he heard April’s muffled moan. Fear clutched at his heart as he pictured her lying hurt… what if Shredder really was still alive and had finally gotten to her? They’d been so careful to keep her address a secret so the foot couldn’t find her… He grabbed his shell cell and sent a quick text to his brothers, then gently pried the window open with the blade of his katana. He’d die before he’d let anything happen to April. Leonardo carefully moved the edge of the curtain and peered into the room. A lamp lay smashed on the floor and a stack of magazines had been pushed off the coffee table. The blue turtle grit his teeth as he heard another small moan. The foot had been so bold when they had taken Charlie and Lisa, and now someone obviously had April. He pushed the window farther up and slipped soundlessly into the apartment where he drew his second blade. If there was anyone in here, their seconds were numbered. He crept through her apartment, pausing to check the bathroom and kitchen - both were empty. The bedroom door was open a crack and he crept toward it, ready to kick it open and snap the light on. Then he smelled it… arousal… very strong arousal… and it was definitely April’s. There was another scent, too… male arousal. Recognition hit him as the door swung open and a wooden practice katana swung at him. He raised his blade and sliced through the stick like it was butter. For several long moments no one spoke. “Master Splinter?” Leo finally managed to say. He was too shocked to say anything else. Yoshi looked equally shocked. They stood, staring at each other with their mouths hanging open for several awkward moments before Donatello finally realized that his father was shirtless and that April was sitting on the bed behind him, holding a sheet over her breasts. He shut his eyes and mumbled, “Um… I’ll just um… yeah…” he turned and wandered bewilderedly back to the living room window. A few seconds later the apartment exploded in sound as his brothers arrived, weapons drawn. Raphael kicked the front door in, Michelangelo crashed in through the kitchen window, and Donatello did a barrel roll in through the same window that Leonardo had. They seemed confused to see their brother standing in the middle of the room in complete shock with his weapons hanging limply in his arms. “What the shell?” Raphael gasped. He looked around in a panic. “Is April… is she okay?” Leonardo sheathed his katanas and flopped down on the couch. “Breathe deeply,” he said. The others looked confused, but each took a deep breath. Their emotions changed from confusion to recognition as they smelled the arousal, then back to confusion as they realized whose it was, then to squickiness as everything clicked, then settled back on confusion. “Sooo… April’s okay, I assume,” Michelangelo said carefully. A deep blush settled across his cheeks and he noticed that his brothers looked the same. “Yeah, I think Splinter is takin’ care of ‘er,” Raphael snickered. “Gross…” Michelangelo muttered. He stuck his nunchucks back in his belt and flopped down on the couch next to Leo. “How much did you see, bro?” he asked. Leo put his head in his hands in response and Mike patted his shell. “It’s okay, Leo,” he said. “I’ll getcha real drunk tonight and you won’t remember shit in the morning.” “Thanks, Mikey,” Leo muttered. The bedroom door opened again and April and Yoshi emerged, fully clothed. They were both blushing like teenagers that had been caught by their parents in the backseat of the family car. Leonardo hopped to his feet and bowed in apology. “Sorry, sensei. Sorry April. I just dropped by and… um… you sounded hurt… and the lamp and stuff… sorry…” April covered her face with her hands and sat down on the chair next to the couch. “It’s okay, Leo,” she said through her fingers. “We should have said something to you earlier.” She looked up at the blue turtle and shrugged. “We wanted to get you all together before we said anything. We weren’t trying to keep this a secret or anything… I’m sorry, we should have told you sooner.” Yoshi picked the pieces of shattered lamp up and set them on the end table where no one would step on it. He looked at the broken kitchen window and sighed as he frowned at Michelangelo. He gestured for the turtles to sit and then he sat on the arm of April’s chair and patted her shoulder reassuringly. Leonardo looked like he wanted the couch to swallow him whole. “So um… what does this mean?” Donatello asked. “Are you like… together now or um just… um…” he faltered and looked at Raphael for help His brother rolled his eyes and said, “Are ya getting’ married or just getting’ it on?” “Raphael…” Yoshi warned. “You will address your m… April with respect.” Raphael sighed. “Yes, Sensei… sorry April.” He didn’t actually look sorry and Yoshi narrowed his eyes at the son who was so much like himself. Raphael met his eyes with an equally hard look. “Cut it out, you two,” April told them. She looked at Yoshi and said, “The boys should know what’s going on, since the cat’s kinda out of the bag.” Yoshi rubbed his eyes and said the only thing a man can really say when his woman is annoyed; “Yes, dear.” April looked back at the turtles and gave them a shy smile. “We’d like to get married,” she said. “I wish we could have done this years ago, but your father was too stubborn.” Donatello smiled at Yoshi and said, “It’s usually better to just do what they say, isn’t it?” April gave Yoshi a withering smile and said, “See how fast he caught on? Why couldn’t you do that?” “And on that note, it’s time for us to go home,” Raphael said before Splinter could reply. He leaned down and enveloped April in his big arms. “Oka-san, daisuki,” he whispered before he kissed her cheek. He let her go, turned, and hopped out the window. April stood up to stop him from going but he was long gone before she could reply. The other turtles exchanged quick glances and then Leonardo stood quickly up and repeated Raphael’s actions. “Oka-san, daisuki,” he said before leaving. Donatello hugged her next and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. “Oka-san, daisuki,” he said before he let her go and followed his brothers. Michelangelo picked her right off the ground as he said, “Oka-san, daisuki.” He put her down, said, “Later, Master Spliter,” and took off after his brothers. Yoshi wrapped his arms around her from behind and she threaded her hands with his as they watched Leonardo disappear into the night. “I know ‘daisuki’ means ‘I love you’ but what does ‘Oka-san’ mean?” April asked. Yoshi rested his chin on her shoulder and kissed her cheek. “Mother,” he said. “It means mother.” In the alley below they heard Michelangelo’s voice drift up, “How the fuck did Splinter know I broke that window?”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
