The Boy Blunders
ROBIN brought the Batmobile to a standstill, let the engine idle for a few seconds and then shut it down.
Batman had still been sleeping as he’d set out on his mission following his moment of realisation.
He knew he should have woken him – but the thrill of being able to solve the case on his own had given him a surge of excitement. Perhaps it would finally convince his partner he was fit to stand alongside him whatever they faced.
He rubbed his hand over his chin thoughtfully as he studied the large white building ahead of him.
“Unoccupied, yeah?” he said under his breath. “Of course you are.”
The records showed the £2million-plus property hadn’t been tenanted for over a year – and this in an area where rich people would happily pay over the odds for the few residences that ever came on the market.
If that wasn’t enough to make anyone suspicious the fact that the registered owner was a front company based off-shore only sought to reinforce his hunch.
He climbed out of the Batmobile and approached slowly – crouching down to keep out of sight of the large, darkened windows that looked over the broad front garden and down to the street.
Carefully he levered himself over the perimeter wall and crept across the lush grass keeping his eyes fixed on the house for the slightest sound or sight of movement.
One light burned from an upstairs window shielded by a thick white blind.
Robin tensed himself as he approached the thick wooden front door. He ignored the bell and carefully folded his fingers around the big brass handle set in the wood and began to turn. The latch clicked and the door moved silently inwards.
The young crimefighter opened it just wide enough to slip through.
Inside he found himself in a broad marble-floored hall illuminated by wall lights on either side. A large oak table sat in the middle with a lavish flower arrangement seated on top.
On either side were a series of doors and straight ahead a wide, red and grey-carpeted stairway leading to the next floor.
Robin edged forward around the table and his ears caught the sound of soft music coming from somewhere above.
He took a gentle step onto the first stair and then stopped in shock.
What he thought had been a random pattern woven into the carpet was nothing of the sort. His mouth almost dropped open as he realised it was instead a depiction of Batman. It showed the Caped Crusader kneeling with his arms bound behind his back, his back arched and his face contorted in agony.
The Boy Wonder stared incredulously and almost gasped before he managed to regain his composure. He looked up the stairs to see the gruesome image repeated again and again all the way to the landing at the top.
His muscular chest heaved as he took a deep breath and ascended the steps – the music becoming louder as he neared the top.
The sound was unmistakably coming from behind a closed door straight ahead of him. He put his ear to it but could make out nothing more. No voices, no movement – merely the gentle tinkling sound.
Grim-faced and prepared for anything he took hold of the door handle and gently pulled it down. Then, in one rapid movement he flung it open and dashed inside. His moment of triumph had come!
Instantly the music stopped and the room was plunged into darkness. Robin stumbled forwards slightly as the blackness enveloped him.
Before he could gather his wits something slammed upwards with terrific force into his face.
He grunted as his body snapped upright and his head swam dizzyingly.
“So glad you could come,” came a taunting female voice out of the darkness. “What took you so long Birdybrain?”
He was still reeling from the shock of the first blow when the second hit. This one cannoned into his balls making him throw his head back and screech in agony.
His hands instinctively clawed at his scrotum as the searing pain almost made his legs buckle from under him.
“You like that baby?” crowed the woman with sadistic pleasure. “I do. Now try this!”
Robin sensed his assailant stepping around him in one movement but before he could turn his back arched as something rammed solidly into his back.
“Aaaaaaggggggghhhhh,” he grunted.
A fist pummelled into his right bicep once, twice, three times and then repeated the medicine on the left.
Got to fight back, he thought. Got to fight back.
He tried to shut out the pain as he wheeled round but as he did so something hard and pointed sailed up into his already aching balls again.
This time it was too much. His legs gave way and he crashed to his knees.
A delighted laugh echoed round the room.
“God you’re weak Robin,” said the woman sneeringly. “I knew you were stupid but I didn’t know you were this puny as well!”
Robin desperately tried to haul himself to his feet but a hand landed on the top of his head.
The fingers curled around his thick black hair and wrenched his head backwards.
Suddenly the lights in the room snapped on and the Boy Wonder found himself staring up at the face of a beautiful smiling woman.
She seemed to be dressed in some sort of leather catsuit as her knee-length stiletto boots elevated her easily above his stricken form
Long blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders and her thick red lips were creased in a triumphant grin. She looked down at him with an expression of utter superiority.
“Like the view little boy?” she asked with obvious enjoyment. “I certainly do!
“Now, it’s time for beddy-byes.”
She raised her right arm above her head and balled her hand into a fist – holding it there for a few seconds while she drank in the look of fear on Robin’s face.
Then she brought it down at speed straight into his face – letting go of his hair as she did so.
The Boy Wonder’s head bounced off the floor between her leather-clad legs with a sickening thud.
His eyes closed as unconsciousness swept over him – mercifully blocking out the pain of his beating for the time being.
“Sleep well my love,” purred the woman. “There’s so much more fun to come.”
