" Just tell us what we need to know, and we'll give back your time belt so you can go home." John was starting to loose his patience with this guy. Despite being tied down, despite have all his weapons and trinkets taken away from him, despite having a alien peering through his mind, he kept quiet. J'onzz was rather taken back when he tried to look into the ninja's mind. He couldn't break through. The ninja was incredibly and ridiculously stubborn.
" Do what you will with me. But I won't tell you anything!" He barked at them, still in his stealth clothing, but his helmet had been removed. Even though he was being charged for attacking and nearly killing Shayera, he was allowed normal treatment. Normal, as in getting three meals a day, his wounds tended to, even though he didn't deserve it.
" I say we drop him off in another section of the galaxy. Better yet, let's toss him in the closest black hole." J'onn only had to look at John to tell him to remain quiet.
" Please, it is important that we know who sent you. Don't make me get ugly. I assure you, you won't like it." The ninja scoffed, not the least bit concerned.
" What are you all deaf? I said, do what you want with me. I'm still not going to say anything. You all are just wasting your time. Go ahead Martian boy. Force pain upon me. I don't really mind." John threw up his arms.
" I give up. Let's just leave him alone for now before I loose my struggle." Jo'nzz's clam features did not change as the ninja watched them go out of the small room. Once he was alone, he released a long sigh, wishing that "The Supreme One" would realize something went wrong and warp him the hell out of the tower and back to the future where he belonged.
Flash wasn't sure what time it was, but he knew the Amazon princess was fast asleep. She was exhausted. Emotionally, mentally and physically. And as much as he hated to move from their comfortable position, he called to her just to where she could hear him. Diana moaned softly as she let her eyes flutter open to about half way.
" Hey sleepy head. Listen, if you are wanting to get out of here before you know who shows up... you'd better get a move on." Diana sighed deeply, nodding quietly.
" Are you going to take your ship?" Flash asked, watching her stagger slightly out of his arms.
" Yes." Came the soft, groggy reply.
" All right. Here's what we'll do. You get dressed and meet me in the Docking Bay in ten minutes." Diana blinked sleepily at him.
" What about Shayera? I was serious when I said I wanted to take her with me." Flash grinned.
" I know. Just leave her to me." Flash went out of the of her curtain, glad that he didn't see anyone up and about in the Infirmary.
" Hey there Shayera..." Flash whispered once he approached her bedside a few feet down from where Diana was stationed. Shayera of course, did not reply. She laid there, still as stone, breathing slowly. Her entire upper part of her body was bare. But there was heavy aid wrap from her waist line, up to about her shoulders. Every now and then, Shayera would arch up in the bed as the medicine cleared out the poison, but would never awaken. Flash heaved a small sigh.
" Okay, it's clear that you're going to medical assistance until you heal up. But I doubt I can take everything in here without being noticed...hmm." Flash rubbed his chin, becoming thoughtful.
" Let's see... I think I know how I can do this." He murmured to himself, his eyes resting on a well sized bag, and the bottles of green and blue liquid resting on the night stand. Meanwhile, Diana had gotten dressed with... some slight difficultly. She couldn't seem to focus or keep awake long enough before loosing herself in daze.
" Flash, I'm heading out." She said, coming out of her room. Flash was a little busy getting items for Shayera, but he nodded, indicating that he heard her. Diana didn't know where she was going to go, but she had to go someplace where the league wouldn't dare look for her. I could go back home, but that's just asking for disaster to happen. Then, it hit her. Diana knew where she could go...

Time: 1:35 a.m.
Diana ran a quick system check for her ship, making sure everything was working properly. She was grateful no one had seen her, or if they had, didn't say anything. Flash came zooming in ten minutes later as promised. He had a handle of a bag between his teeth, and Shayera in his arms. Diana's eyes couldn't help but rest on the wingless woman in Flash's arms. Instead of the white robe, she was wearing her normal clothes. A white top with matching pants, a patch of black trailing down on the sides of the fabric.
" What's with the bag?" She questioned in a broken voice, her chest already constricting. Flash tried to speak, but the handle in his mouth muffled his words. Flickering her eyes towards him, she took a few steps in, reaching out to take Shayera. Once she was out of his arms, he opened his mouth wide to drop the bag. He caught it quickly and raised it to her eye level.
" Let's get a few things straight here. I am letting you go against orders. I am also helping you smuggle out a patient... meaning that you are now fully responsible for anything that will happen to her." Diana felt Shayera snuggle deeper into her chest and let out a sigh against her armor. This caused her to glance down with a small flush. She thought Shayera had come around, but her eyes remained shut.
" I understand." Mumbled the Amazon princess, watching the sleeping woman in her arms.
" Now here are some of the things she will need to take in order for her to recover. I wrote a list. Read it, learn it, know it. I don't know where you're going, and I don't know how long you plan on being gone. But please by all that is right... take care of her. If something happens to either of you, I don't know what I'll do..." Diana slowly met his gaze with a faint smile.
" I promise to take care of her Flash." Diana quirked a brow.
" Just as long as you promise not to tell anyone I left and keep a low profile." Flash did the peace sign with his free hand.
" I got your back sister." Diana jerked her head wearily in the direction of her ship.
" Will you help me get her situated inside?" Flash nodded.
" Sure thing princess." Flash set the bag up front in the empty seat, then helped Diana lay Shayera across the two seats in the back. True, it was a little tight, but they got her in there, and at a rather comfortable position too. They put her upper body up against the window and let her legs rest on the second seat.
" Do you have a blanket or something? It's important to keep her warm, or so J'onn told me one day." Diana shook her head.
" Wait here. I'll be right back." After ten seconds, Flash was back with a heavy wool blanket.
" Where did you get that?" Flash grinned.
" That's for me to know, and for you to find out." He replied with a grin. Diana rolled her tired eyes, snatching it out of his hands.
" No thank you?" He seemed disappointed, but only was teasing her. Diana tucked the blanket carefully around Shayera, minding the sensitive two spots where the wings were located and her torso wound. Shayera moaned, shifting slightly under Diana's touch, but did not awaken.
" Thanks again for doing this..." Diana retorted in a hushed voice, hopping out of the ship to give him a hug.
" Ah. You're welcome. Anything for you, my lovely princess."
" Here. I don't want them to track me." Diana eased out of the embrace and reached up to take the ear communicator out. Flash smiled receiving it.
" One more thing."
" What is it?"
" Could you open the door?" Flash gave her a thumbs up.
" Sure." Diana turned, ready to get inside her ship when Flash clasped a hand around her wrist.
" Hey Diana?" Diana froze.
" Yes, Flash?"
" Please come back..." It wasn't a order, more so a plea. Diana hung her head.
" I don't know if I can. I... I caused all of this to happen Flash. And if I am as that ninja said, "The Supreme One"... and I ordered this attack... why wasn't there anyone there to stop me? What if in the future, I betrayed you guys? What if... I became some evil ruler of the league? I-I can't live with knowing that. I need time to think, Flash." Flash nodded solemnly, releasing her wrist.
" I understand. See you when I see you then." Flash dashed away to the control panel that would open the gates. He watched in a pensive silence as Diana's ship roared to life and shot out of the tower like a bat from hell. His heart ached, his mind was racing with questions as to how and why. He was thankful that no one was around and witnessed their escape. Now all he had to do, was think of a way to tell everyone why there were two empty beds in the Infirmary. After all, most knew he was Wonder Woman's care taker. So they would have questions over that, if not anything else. Flash sighed as he hit the button that closed the wide doors.
" Princess... you owe me one."
Diana had a long journey ahead and was sadly, not prepared for it. It took all her will power alone not to fall asleep in Flash's arms when she gave him that hug. Now she was depending her reserves to hold up her eye lids. Even they were running low. Diana knew the perfect place in another corner of the galaxy. She engaged the hyper boosters, not wanting to waste anymore time. The ship took off at incredible speed, warping to the third section in the galaxy. Diana was headed for a isolated planet called, "Tyrainia". Diana had saved the plant from being destroyed on one of her more earlier adventures back before they found more allies to join the league.
" I sure hope I can fix this." She mumbled to herself, suppressing the urge to yawn. Tyrainia was a beautiful planet with it's rich vegetation, and sparkling water falls. The sky was a nice shade of black mixed in with a light layer of gold. The stars blinked brightly around the half crescent moon that seemed to hide a lot behind the puffy clouds. Diana landed the ship in clearing surrounded with a variety trees. Once she felt the ship tremble to a halt, she let out a long sigh, resting her head back against the head of her seat. Seeing how she wasn't in a hurry, she rested a while, trying hard not to think of what the ninja assassin told her. It was much later when she felt a hand shaking her. At first, she ignored it, still very much tired. But then came the voice that caused her eyes to snap open.
" Care to explain to me why I'm in your ship, on a foreign planet, and not in the Infirmary?" Diana turned her head, finding herself face-to-face with Shayera. Being so close, she could see the line tensions more clearly in the wingless woman's face. Man. She looks terrible. Diana thought, her eyes softening.
" Um, can we step outside and talk about this?" Shayera gave her a nod and turned to get out the side, then winced deeply. Concerned, Diana took off her seat belt and reached out to touch her shoulder without thinking. When she made contact with the skin, she got a very warm, tingling feeling in her lower region.
" Are you all right?" Shayera bit her lower lip, eye brows furrowing madly.
" I-I'm okay. Just stretched the wrong way." She shrugged off Diana's hand, regaining a some/what normal composure.
" Are you going to open the door or what?" Diana sighed, glancing back around at her control panel.
" Yeah. Hold on." She hit the green round button, which in turn, lifted the side door.
" Do you need help getting out?" The question was not what she was expecting to hear and for a moment. She hesitated.
" Um... if it's not too much trouble?" Diana shook her head slowly from side to side, saying,
" It's no trouble at all. Let me get out first, okay?" Shayera eased back carefully, watching Diana get out first. Once Dian's feet touched the ground, she was filled with a sense of tranquility. The planet was just perfect for them. She just knew it would be.
" All right. Here's what we'll do. You put your hands on my shoulders and I'll grab you by the waist and set you down." Shayera struggled to keep the pain from showing, though it was hard to do. The truth was, she wasn't okay. As soon as she woke up, she got a full throttle of rush of sensations. What nearly made her scream, was the intense ache in her back where her wings used to be. Every breath of air, every movement, seemed to trigger some sort of muscle vein that caused the two sensitive spots to throb. Her stomach wound was not that bad. It burned however, and when she put the slightest pressure on it, it caused unhappy sensations. Not to mention she could feel the medicine clearing out the poison she received from the dagger. Diana sensed this and felt guilt wash over her.
" That's it. Just take it easy and slow." Diana's hands rested on Shayera's waistline gently. Instead of simply putting her hands on her shoulders, as Diana instructed her to do, Shayera slid her arms about Diana's neck. Diana felt her cheeks grow warm almost instantly. Why do I get so uneasy around her when she touches me or when I touch her? Diana moved them back until they were at a good distance.
" There." She remarked lightly, letting her go. She may of let go, but Shayera didn't.
" Wait a minute. Let me catch my breath?" Diana nodded without saying a word, listening to the soft labored breathing coming from the other woman.
" Um... Shayera, do you remember what happened?" Shayera whimpered, feeling the pain starting to increase.
" A-A little." She breathed, squeezing her eyes shut. Diana's arms caved around her waist again.
" You need to sit down." She stated bluntly, her eyes locking on the ship. Before Shayera could reply, Diana placed her on a large boulder that was close by. There she told her to wait while she went to go get the bag.
" Okay." Came the faint whisper. Diana's eyes became sad. Seeing her rival so down, so in pain made her feel even worse. She got the bag out of the front seat and closed the door to the ship. When she went back over to Shayera, she found her grasping her side, tears running down her face.
" Is it that bad?" Questioned the Amazon princess, opening the bag. A agonized groan filled her ears, which in turn made her look around in the bag faster.
" Okay, okay. Hold on. Flash gave me a list. What hurts the most?" Shayera merely glared, her teeth bared. Diana cringed.
" Right. All of it. Umm..." Diana read the list she found on top of a pair of clothes that she guessed Flash put there for Shayera.
" I'm going to give you some medicine. But it's going to knock you out for a while."
" Fine! I don't care! Just give it to me!" Hissed the wingless warrior, clutching her torso tightly. Diana found a silver spoon, and the four bottles with different liquids. She gave Shayera the blue colored liquid first, followed by green, clear, and finally a dark purple. Shayera almost choked on them. They were very, very bitter and left a terrible after taste in her mouth. Once she had taken her medication, Diana put the bottles back in the bag, along with the spoon.
" I hope that helps..." Shayera swallowed, trying to rinse the nasty remains of medicine out of her mouth.
" I bet you're wondering why I brought you here way out in the middle of no where, right?" Shayera cocked her head to the side gently, hinting a small smile.
" Just a little." Diana didn't know how much longer she could keep the truth from her.
" Well, we need to settle our differences before it's too late." Shayera arched a weary brow.
" Just what on earth do you mean by that?" Diana winced, turning her head the other way. It was now or never.
" I'm the reason your wings were..." Shayera's eyes widened slightly.
" Diana?"
" Listen, I know this is going to sound really unpredictable, but seeing how it's me, it might not be so hard to believe." Diana felt a lump form in her sore throat.
" You see... that ninja assassin who ripped your wings off... he didn't do that for his own pleasure. He did it, because someone ordered him to do it. Shayera... that someone was me." Shayera stared at Diana with a stunned expression.
" D-Diana..." Gasped the young woman, suddenly light headed.
" According to that ninja, I am known as "The Supreme One" in the future. He said the reason he came, was to finish you off early because I got tired of putting up with you. Now, I don't understand why I grew so bitter as to want to dead. But I want to you know... that I'm sorry." This was too much for Shayera at the moment. She only grew more light headed as this information was fed to her.
" I'm sorry for taking away your wings. I'm sorry... for trying to kill you. Shayera I know we're not best friends, but damn it all! I don't want you dead. Especially at my hands." Diana shrugged weakly.
" You even said I had more brawn than a brain. I guess... you were right." This took a lot of courage to admit that she was truly and indeed sorry for bringing her so much pain. Shayera could just some how see that. She wanted to get up and go over and hug Diana and let her know that it was all right. Sadly, she could only ask Diana to catch her before she passed out completely. Diana caught her before she hit the ground, being extra careful realizing her hands were a little close to the spots where the wings used to be.
" Oh Shayera..." Sighed the mighty Amazon princess, cradling her close. Thunder could be heard rumbling high above in the sky, making Diana sigh inwardly. She was glad she knew every corner of the planet, including locations of caves they could use for shelter. As a matter of fact, they were near one, not too far from where they were standing. Diana decided she'd get Shayera situated first, before doing anything else. Once Diana was sure Shayera was comfortable in the west coast cave, that was rather high up, she flew out to get the ship and the bag that contained the medicine for Shayera. When she flew back up, the blanket in one hand, bag in the other, she was a little surprised to see Shayera sitting up and clutching herself with her arms. Diana set the bag down in the far corner before going over to her rival.
" Shayera, what's wrong? Is the pain getting worse?" Fear was clearly reflected out of her eyes as she gazed down at her. Shayera shook her head slightly, faintly saying that she was, "cold". Diana knelt down and draped the blanket around her.
" Stay here a second. I'm going to start a fire."
" B-But there's no wood." She acknowledged in a shaky voice, trying to stop the chattering of her teeth. Diana smiled, despite her weariness.
" I know. But there will be. Don't move. I'll be right back." Shayera nodded quietly, eyes fluttering shut.
Diana found wood easily. All she had to do, was find a thick section full of trees, punch a few down and bring them back to the cave. Diana was amazed at how much better she felt after telling Shayera about her dilemma. However, she did worry about how Shayera felt deep down about all of it. Would she forgive her? So many questions, but they had so much time to see what could unfold. When Diana came flying back into the cave with some small, yet long limbs of wood in her arms, Shayera was still up.
" Shayera...?" Dian questioned, dropping the wood in the middle of the room. Shayera's eyes locked with the Amazon princess.
" I couldn't sleep. Even though I can't think of anything better to do. I... I'm cold, Diana." Diana chuckled softly.
" Well maybe you'll be able to after I get this fire going. " With that, Diana got to work, ignoring her body's protests to rest. Even if it were just for a mere second. But Diana couldn't afford to do that. She was after all, responsible for taking care of Shayera.
" Man I would kill for heat vision about now." Diana muttered after setting up the wood to where it would burn best.
" Guess I gotta do this the old fashioned way..." Shayera watched Diana's every move as she prepared their fire. After playing around with some stones, Diana found two that would cause a good spark. Shayera smiled when the wood burst to life after some time had past. Diana glanced over her shoulder.
" That should help." Diana didn't have a soft, fluffy blanket to lay on or cover up with like Shayera did. But she wasn't bothered by the hard, stone cold ground of the cave. She lay on the opposite side of her rival, the fire blazing high, bouncing off a comfortable warmth on both their weary bodies.
" Try to get some rest Shayera... I..." Diana paused.
" We still need to talk about some things." Shayera arched a brow, settling down carefully.
" We do? I thought-"
" That was only part of it. There's still some other things I want to... discuss with you. But not now. We're both tired and I know you need your rest." Shayera nodded, shifting onto her good side. Content, Diana let the hands of oblivion take her. It must of been later on in the night when Diana awoke, for the crescent moon was still high in the dark sky, shinning it's rays into the opening of the cave. But she was sure she heard whimpering. Curious as to where it was coming from, she rose to sitting position, glad to know the fire was still going.
" Shayera? What's wrong?" She asked sleepily, squinting slightly. Shayera let out a shaky sigh.
" I know I shouldn't be cold. After all, I have a blanket, and there's a fire right? But I am. And I-"
" Take your clothes off, Shayera." The words that came out of Diana's mouth got one hell of a reaction from Shayera. Diana alone admitted, she was a little shocked at what she said. Yet... she found herself comfortable with the idea. Shayera rose to sitting position herself, letting the blanket fall from around her.
" May I ask why you want me to... remove my clothing?" Diana got to her feet slowly.
" Relax. I'm only going to warm you, Shayera." Shayera swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry.
" How are you going to do that?" Stupid question. Diana walked over to her side and peered down at her with sleepy eyes.
" I'll show you in a moment." She proclaimed, starting to slip off her chest armor. Shayera watched as the Amazon stripped herself naked, not seeming the least bit bothered.
" Your turn." Shayera glanced down at her white top and slacks, then back up at her.
" Um... could you...?" Diana nodded solemnly, kneeling down to slip off the T-shirt gently. After she discarded the top, she started on the slacks. She tugged gently, but swiftly. Now only in her underwear, Diana got to work. First, she found a spot, then laid down. Then told Shayera to get on top of her. Shayera settled herself comfortably on top of Diana's nude form, smiling timidly at her. Diana fought to keep off a blush.
" A-All right. Now, put your hands under my arms."
" You mean like this?" Diana nodded slowly, feeling her hands slip under her flesh.
" That's right. Now, pressure your chest against mine." Shayera obeyed without any protest. She pressed her wrapped upper body against Diana's breasts, feeling the heat enter her body almost instantly. Fighting down the sudden urge of desire to lift her mouth and claim hers, Diana began to stroke Shayera's hair. Shayera moved her lips against the Amazon's neck, sighing softly. She lay there, content and relaxed. Diana listened to her quiet breathing and wondered if she had fallen asleep. She needed to rest herself, but her eyes couldn't stayed closed. Some time later, Shayera stirred, having the same problem. She couldn't rest no matter how hard she tried. And she had no excuse this time. She was warm. Maybe a little too warm.
" Diana?" Came the faint whisper.
" Yes?" Diana replied back, just as soft.
" Can I ask you a question?" Diana yawned softly, her eyes lowering to slits.
" Can't it wait until tomorrow?"
" No." Was the quick reply. Diana sighed.
" All right. What is it?" Shayera's arms moved from underneath Diana back and slipped up to encircle her neck.
" Why are you doing this? If you are, "The Supreme One" and wanted me dead in the future, why the hell are you trying to stop it from taking place?" Diana lifted her head a little and pressed her lips on Shayera's temple, lingering for only a moment before replying back to her question.
" Because I... I..."
" You what, Diana?" Diana let her blush surface, not bothering to hide it.
" Because I like you." She mumbled, easing back to let her head rest on the smooth, yet rough textured surface of the cave. Shayera eyes widened.
" You what?" She asked meekly, feeling a blush of her own come on. Diana looked at her straight on in the face, saying a little more loudly,
" I like you, Shayera. At first, I couldn't understand why I got so uneasy around you, even when we fought... even when we said nasty things to each other... I was falling for you." Diana's eyes searched the emerald depths of hers and she was swept with a feeling that went far beyond physical desire. Shayera stared at her for a full minute before she lowered her mouth to Diana's level. Her lips, Diana noticed. Were soft, gentle and incredibly sweet. As they entrapped hers, Diana felt a fiery heat that caused strange sensations inside of her. Diana's tongue pressed inside her lips, moving, probing the honey sweetness of her very soul. Diana moved her mouth away, then back, sucking the contents from the mouth. Shayera knew it was selfish, but she held Diana's mouth, greedy for her. She didn't realize it at the time, but she was seeking a someone like this. Someone that would be just like this. Someone that would make her go radiant, that would get her blood boiling with just a flicker of her eyes. Diana was that someone. Diana kissed her eye lids, temples, the corners of her mouth and upper lip. When she finally broke the kiss, Shayera drew a frightened little breath when her mouth was free. Diana smiled weakly, as did she.
" I didn't cause you pain by kissing you, did I?" Shayera scoffed, rubbing the tip of her nose against Diana's affectionately.
" Heh. What pain?" Diana claimed her lips once more, sub-consciously being gentle with her hands and where she touched her. She honestly didn't want to hit her wound, or the tender spots on her back. Shayera sighed contently in her rival's mouth. No, not rival. Lover's. Diana was without a doubt, her official soul mate. She just regretted it took them three years to realize it. Shayera chuckled when she saw Diana ease back and close her eyes.
" Tired, Diana?" Diana moaned, nodding slightly. Shayera snuggled into the nape of Diana's neck and released a warm exhale of air.
" Good night."
" Good night." Diana replied, a small yawn breezing past her lips. Shayera couldn't help but smile as she drifted to sleep in the arms of her soul mate. Somehow, she figured the future would change. She didn't know how or when. But she had a strong feeling Diana was not going to be known as, "The Supreme One" any longer.
