Warnings: M/M, slash, NC, rape, H/C, Rob/Slade. (No Rob/Rae in this one???)

A/N: Thanks for the reviews! I got equal votes for and against Rob/Rae, so I’m leaving it open for this chapter, I’d also be grateful for ideas about an ending! I’m plotting a showdown between Rob and Slade, but I have no idea what I’ll do with it!

Robin flicked between the cartoon and music channels in a continuous loop, occasionally pausing on cartoons about fighting robots and the music videos of thrash metal bands. One of his favourite bands, Trivium, came on with a track called ‘pull harder on the strings’, Robin allowed the trace of a smile to distort his lips.
“Friend Robin!” Starfire suddenly chirped from behind him. Robin’s heart momentarily relocated itself to his throat, and once he’d got his breath back he turned around and glared angrily at the young Tamaranian.
“What?” He growled, eyes flashing.
“I was just… going to ask…” She trailed off, frowning slightly in confusion. “May I ask if there is something upsetting you?”
Robin briefly took in Starfire’s expression of concern and sighed heavily.
“I’m sorry, Star.” He apologised, “I’m still pretty burned up about us getting our asses handed to us yesterday.”
“I do not understand,” Starfire looked confused, again. “How was your posterior handed to you? And I do not recall you igniting, either.” Her penchant for misunderstanding colloquialisms and Earth terminology had been amusing, even cute, for the first few months, but now, and especially today, it was simply annoying.
Through gritted teeth, Robin explained.
“I mean, I’m upset that Slade beat us yesterday.”
Realisation dawned on Starfire’s pretty face.
Just then a low rumble began emanating from the hallway. Robin raised his eyebrows in trepidation.
Cyborg and Beast Boy exploded into the lounge in a frenzy of laughter and shouts.
“Ha! I got to the couch first, that means you have to fix the snacks!” Beast Boy cried, grinning like an idiot and panting for breath.
“Aw, man!” Cyborg whined as he slouched off to the kitchen, feeling cheated.
Beast Boy was about to jump onto the sofa when he noticed Robin and stopped mid-air.
“Robin, dude, didn’t see you after the fight yesterday.” He said. Robin couldn’t tell if Beast Boy was querying him or simply making conversation.
“Yeah, I guess I finished a little later than you guys.” Robin wanted the lounge to himself, but he had a feeling BB and Cy would be wanting the widescreen for their games.
“We’ll kick Slade’s butt next time.” Beast Boy said, trying to cheer Robin up, no doubt, it was fairly obvious that their failure had left a sour taste in the Leader’s mouth.
Robin frowned, a horrified expression of dawning realisation on his face.
“No, we won’t.” He said, standing up, “We never beat him… He’s better than us.” Robin’s breathing had quickened, the conclusion he’d drawn terrified him.
“No way, man-” Beast Boy started, but was cut off.
“Yes, he is. From now on, we don’t get involved with him. We’ll leave him to the professionals – the Justice League.”
Beast Boy was left with his jaw hanging open as Robin raced to his own bedroom and slammed the door shut behind him.
It was three hours later, whilst Raven was meditating in her room, that the alarms went off. She cringed against the noise, wishing they could have replaced it with a subtle beeping or something. She met with Cyborg, Beast Boy and Starfire in the control room; turned out Slade was trying to steal some kind of nanotechnology microchips.
“Where’s Robin?” She asked, having only just realised that their leader was not amongst them, instantly her gut told her that something was wrong.
“Err, I don’t think he’ll be coming…” Beast Boy murmured, shuffling his feet.
“Why?” Raven asked, her voice lower.
“Earlier, he kinda freaked out, said Slade was better than us, that he’d beat us again and that we should leave him to the professionals.”
The other three stared at Beast Boy in utter disbelief.
Robin never gave up, it wasn’t in his nature to admit defeat. He’d once vowed to fight Slade until his dying breath. And now he’d just allowed Slade to conquer them without even putting up a fight.
Raven knew it was something more sinister than a simple change of opinion.
Without a word to her team mates, she teleported directly into Robin’s room.
“What the hell is going on?” She demanded.
Robin didn’t even look up. He lay face down on his bed, arms folded under his forehead, still but for the rise and fall of his shoulders indicating his steady breathing pattern. The room was tidy, it looked as though Robin didn’t have any personal effects to speak of; the surface of his low cupboards was clear and clean, the floor was plain blue carpet, not blemished with even a smear of mud.
“We have to go; the nanotech lab’s being raided as we speak.” She kept her voice calm, but it was difficult. Raven’s many buried emotions were starting to tease her; she was very concerned about Robin, but at the same time she was pissed off, his behaviour scared her and aroused her curiosity. “It’s Slade.”
At that, Robin froze. His shoulders had stopped rising and falling, and a low grumble came from his mouth. After a second’s consideration Raven recognised the grumble as Robin’s voice.
“Why bother?” He asked.
“Uh, because we’re the good guys. We kick evil’s butt, remember?” She was getting bored by Robin’s mood, and it showed in her voice.
“I can’t.” His voice seemed to shudder.
“Fine, you stay here. If we defeat him without you, it proves we don’t need you. If he defeats us, well, you’ll have that on your conscience.”
With that, she left the room. It would have been a bad idea to force Robin to fight if he was in such a dismal state anyway.
It was an hour and a half later when the four Teen Titans returned from the battle. They’d put up a good fight, but Slade had ended up getting away with a prototype microchip that would surely allow him to cause no end of trouble. Raven was furious with Robin, and the others seemed to share the feeling.
“I’m going to tell Robin what happened.” She said, seething. Cyborg and Starfire were occupied with Beast Boy who was howling with pain, clutching his ankle. The green teen had lost his balance on a high up railing, and as he fell, the foot was caught between the metal bars, jerking the foot out of its socket. Raven wondered if Robin would even care.
“He got the microchip.” Raven stated, staring at Robin’s back. He now lay on his side, facing away from her.
“Of course he did.” Robin replied, matter-of-factly. “He always wins.”
“Beast Boy is injured.” She tried, “That probably wouldn’t have happened if you’d been there.”
Silence.
Raven floated into the room and telekinetically closed the door behind her. She sat on the bed and put her hand on Robin’s shoulder. She heaved a sigh and closed her eyes.
“What happened last night?” She finally asked. She had a feeling Slade must have beaten him up pretty bad, maybe taunted him leaving him psychologically wounded.
Robin rolled over. His face was still bruised and his eyes were dull, but his expression was open.
“Raven, I don’t know.” Robin squeezed his eyes shut, he looked pained.
“You don’t know what happened?” Raven asked, she was starting to feel a rumble of apprehension in her stomach.
“I know what happened!” Robin said with a humourless laugh that was more like a bark. “I just don’t know how to tell you.”
Raven felt fear brewing, she knew she was about to be told something that it would be impossible to ‘un-hear’.
Robin’s face was shaking, he could feel his eyes twitching, his lips quivering. He desperately wanted to keep his mouth shut, but he couldn’t possibly keep going on like this.
“I tried to fight him, but he was stronger than usual, he dodged every single attack until I was exhausted.” Robin ground his teeth together, not daring to look at Raven, not wanting to see her expression of consolation.
“It’s okay, you can’t expect to beat him every time, especially if you’re on your own.” Raven’s voice was hardly soothing, it was as grainy as ever, but there was that note of curiosity – she knew there was more to it.
Robin felt his eyes sting, a sharp pain pricked his cheek as a solitary salt tear streaked through a short cut on his face.
“He didn’t just beat me.” Robin studied his fingernails as they dug into his palms. He felt another tear roll down the other side of his face. Trying to sink deeper into the bed, he took a huge breath in.
“He raped me.”
End (Of chapter 2, anyway)
Sorry it’s a bit short, I’ll warn you in advance, the next chapter will be the flashback chapter, GRAPHIC DETAILS. But the story should make sense still if you skip it, so if you don’t like hardcore non-con scenes (I don’t like using the ‘r’ word unless I have to) just wait for chapter 4. Please review, otherwise I won’t be able to decide where to go with this, I am heavily contemplating mpreg, but I’m not too sure how it works, so I shall have to read up on it. Rob/Rae?????? I’ve had really good arguments for both sides so far, and I’m tempted to go with platonic as he’s hardly going to be in the mood for romance after what happened, if you don’t agree – convince me otherwise.
