Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/N: A second chapter for my readers. I'm really enjoying writing this. This is somwhat of a linking chapter, as I need to set up the situations before I can launch into them. Many thanks to Ghostly Illusions, who is completely responsible for motivating me to post another chapter.

Chapter 2
People often say that misery loves company. This statement more often than not is completely inaccurate, as Raven soon discovered when she joined her teammates in the kitchen that morning.
"Hey Raven," Robin said, turning as the dark goddess floated into the kitchen joining the rest of the Titans. "Want breakfast?"
"Not particularly," Raven said tonelessly, reaching for a teapot.
"Herbal tea again, eh?" Cyborg asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What else would she be having?" Beast Boy groused. "It's not like she's ever actually eaten breakfast."
"Shut up, Beast Boy," Robin and Cyborg said simultaneously.
"Raven!" Starfire said enthusiastically. "How are you feeling on such a wondrous morning?"
"Fine," Raven said curtly, sitting herself down with a steaming cup of herbal tea at the table.
"Splendid!" Starfire gushed. "Perhaps you would enjoy accompanying Robin and I to the mall of shopping?"
"No," Raven said, resisting the urge to roll her eyes.
"Oh," Starfire's face fell momentarily, before lighting back up. "I will tell you about our journey afterwards, perhaps?"
"Perhaps," Raven said, shrugging, rising from the table. "I'm going to my room to meditate. Don't disturb me." Taking her tea mug with her, Raven climbed the stairs and vanished into the hall.
"That's strange," Robin commented, regarding the place where Raven had stood only moments ago. "She usually stays and talks with us a bit longer than that."
"Our friend Raven is upset," Starfire said quietly. "She has been crying late during the night lately, though I know not why. I can hear her sometimes, and her eyes are red."
"None of us would know why," Cyborg commented. "Raven keeps to herself. She hasn't confided in anyone since Terra."
"Maybe that's why she's crying?" Robin pointed out.
"Nah," Beast Boy said dissmissively. "I know they grew to be really close friends when she came back, but Terra's been gone for nearly a year now. I moved on ages ago, and I'm sure Raven did even before I did."
"Whatever the reason, I hope Raven finds comfort," Starfire said worriedly.
"We all do, Star," Robin said, pulling her in close for a hug. "We all do."

Clasping her cup of herbal tea tightly in her hands, Raven floated up the stairs to her room. Ignoring the continued conversation from the dining room, she silently opened her door and shut it behind her. After taking a long draught of her tea to calm her nerves, Raven seated herself on the air above her bed and began to meditate.
Azarath Metrion Zinthos
The familiar mantra soothed her, calming her volatile emotions from earlier that morning. As she focused, she felt her previous calm gradually returning to her. Her energy settled and lay dormant and tranquil, making her wonder how it had been so frenzied earlier.
Her peaceful state of calm having been returned to her, Raven turned her attention to other thoughts to deliberate over; mainly, Terra.
She's gone Raven told herself wordlessly, trying to register the meaning of the words to herself. I'll never see her again. She's not coming back. There's no use being in denial, Raven. She's gone for good.
But a state of denial is what Raven's emotions remained firmly in, despite all her attempts.
Sighing, and rising from her position, Raven went over to her dresser and wordlessly withdrew a gray hand mirror adorned with horns and red gems from an open drawer. Settling back onto her bed, Raven looked into the mirror. Her reflection changed abruptly to a scene of darkness, and Raven was swept up in a red and black portal, being transported into the mysterious realm of her mind.
