Leonardo lay awake under his blue blanket. It was good to sleep on his own bed for the first time in months. Lisa was sleeping in Master Splinter’s room down the hall. He’d been so tired last night after practice that Mike had just suggested that she stay since they had the extra bed and all. Lisa had seemed glad to accept; she seemed to like the security and privacy of the lair. Charlie had stayed, too, and was currently cuddled in with Don in his bed in the next room. Leo could hear the springs moving a little as they made love, but it was pretty quiet so he didn’t mind. It was too bad that they all couldn’t live together somewhere in a real apartment... it would probably have to be a big loft to accommodate them all.
He knew (because he was the leader and everybody dumped stuff on him) that as much as Don loved Charlie, he missed seeing his brothers. Sure, they saw each other at work lots, but it wasn’t the same as cooking together and hanging out in the living room after supper, watching April on Channel Six before playing videogames and watching movies and The Simpsons.
Raphael had been spending a lot of time in his room lately, instead of going out to who knows where every night. Leo was glad that he at least knew where the red turtle was, but still... he didn’t want his brother to get too withdrawn. He sighed. Raphael was just fine; he’d tell his older brother if something was wrong.
Leo’s thoughts drifted to Mike. Raphael had talked to the blue turtle about the feelings Mike had for Charlie. Leo knew that Mike would never let anyone know... especially Charlie, but he still felt bad for his brother. That had to suck, to love your best friend and never be able to tell her. Leo wondered if Don knew. He probably did... Don was a smart guy, but if he did, he never said anything about it. Don and Mike had a special bond that they’d developed while Raphael and Leonardo had been fighting like cats and dogs as they’d grown up... So long as Mike never acted on his feelings, Don would probably just pretend that he didn’t know anything to save his brother’s dignity.
Leo sighed and rolled over. Mike’s room was on the other side of Don’s... he almost certainly must have heard the fluttery little sigh that had just escaped Charlie’s lips before the creaking spring noise stopped. Leo wondered if they’d come together... probably... those two had seemed especially close lately... not that there was anything wrong with that... he wondered if Don would ever propose... the turtles all knew about the ring. Mike had even helped Don haul the spare scrap to the yard to get the money to buy the diamond... there weren’t a lot of guys like Mike.
Lisa’s pep talk earlier had done him a lot of good. He felt better about a lot of stuff. Leonardo wished that he could pull her in close to him and just hold her while they went to sleep... nothing more... he wanted to feel her curves under his hand and feel her breath flutter across his skin as she slept... yeah, he was beginning to see how Mike must feel.
Lisa snuggled into the small bed in the unfamiliar room. She felt really safe in the lair with all the turtles. No one would hurt her here. Still... she wished that Leonardo’s room wasn’t so far away. It was nice at her place, knowing that he was only on the couch in the next room if she needed him. Maybe she could stay here more often so that he could sleep in his own bed. Would the turtles mind having her around? She didn’t want to intrude.
Somehow she didn’t think that Leo would. She was getting pretty good at reading him since they’d been spending so much time together. He was a good listener, but he needed some prodding to make him talk about himself. Leonardo was a good friend... actually, he was fast becoming a closer friend than Charlotte... not that Lisa didn’t love Charlotte... there was just something about Leo... he was exciting and soothing all at once... he was surprising, yet reliable... gentle, but strong... he’d carried her home and when he’d set her down, the way he’d looked at her made her feel...
Lisa sat bolt upright and clapped a hand over her mouth. There was something about Leo, alright... Lisa had a crush on him.
