Frail (XIII)

Alerra woke to the television reporting that the serial killer Gretchen Freds had struck again at a Gas station restroom.
Gretchen looked over at the Amazon and laid the tray of food in front of her.
Alerra sat up. “Why did you kill her?”
“She would not give me her money.”
“That is not a reason to kill maybe a good beating.”
Gretchen frowned. “You have killed I can feel it.”
“I killed to live you kill for no reason.”
“It is reason for me.”
Alerra/Diana began eating the Amazon was famished.
Diana could see the red headed woman just watching them.
< Why is she looking at us? >
Alerra looked at the woman. “You can’t kill me with poison if you have placed it anywhere.”
Gretchen smiled. “Where would I get poison and why would I do that to you.” Gretchen let the bottle fall to the floor and kicked it under the bed.
Alerra frowned at her. “I don’t need you.”
Gretchen saw the tail coming at her. “You need help with the Justice league. I can help you fight them.”
“I can fight alone and you annoy me.”
Gretchen smiled. “I know that you are afraid of some thing called Bajad. I can see into your mind because I have some of your power.”
Alerra let a punch fly and knocked Gretchen into the wall. She spat out the food.” Did you see that coming?”
Alerra advanced. “You want to kill this body?”
Gretchen held up her hands. “I can help you find the necklace and I promise not to try to kill you again.”
Diana watched Alerra hesitate. “Alright human this Amazon believes in saving life so I will spare you for her but cross me again and I will destroy you.”
Gretchen nodded and lowered her hands.
“Now take me somewhere I can eat.”

Watch Tower

“She is moving East according to the tracer.” Jonn said to group in the Board room.
Shayera looked at him. “Then why aren’t we going after her?”
“We need to get her somewhere where there are not a lot of people.” Batman said. “We don’t want her jumping in and out of bodies”
Jonn frowned. “I don’t think she will leave Diana. She does not have to feed while with her.”
“You don’t think se will leave her do you?”
“No the only way for that to happen is if Alerra does it herself.”
“If Alerra is in Diana then what do we have in the containment field?” Flash asked.
“Just a shell, an image of herself to fool us into thinking she was gone.”
Shayera shook her head.
“Maybe Diana can talk her out of doing evil. She’s good at it.”
Bruce looked at Flash. “That maybe our only choice but we will keep up the pressure on her.” He stood. “Let’s go find her and keep her in sight.”

Charlie’s restaurant

Alerra sat down and noticed the people staring at her.
“They think you look like Wonder woman?” Gretchen whispered.
“I am.” Alerra smiled at them and they smiled back.
Gretchen began to order food to eat.
< She is going to betray you. She is a murderer and can not be trusted. >

Diana sighed. < You will really destroy the necklace and all its power. >

Gretchen was looking at her strangely when Alerra ended her conversation with the trapped Amazon.
“So you are controlling the Amazon. Can she hear me?”
“Yes, but she does not want to talk to you.”
Gretchen smiled. “How the mighty have fallen?”
Alerra made her water turn over into her lap. Gretchen gasped and stood.
“Shut up and go clean up.”
Gretchen glared at her and went to the restroom.
< Why do you need her to get the necklace? >
< It glows when evil is present and she is evil. >
< Why wouldn’t it glow for you? >
Alerra was silent for a while. 

Gretchen looked down below at the fast moving scenery as she flapped her wings following the Amazon Princess towards the Museum.
“What are we going here for?”
Alerra sighed. “We are looking for the necklace of Bajad to destroy it.”
“Why I thought you said it was very powerful to whoever wore it.”
“It is and it will unleash he that is evil upon the Earth who you will serve.”
“But couldn’t you just use it until you became tired of it.”
Alerra looked back at the red head. “No it is dangerous it will take over your mind one can not control it.”
Gretchen smiled at Alerra. “Just asking I don’t know everything yet.”
Alerra growled at her. “I don’t think I need an assistant as you say.”
“Every Supervillian needs a sidekick. You know some one to help out with your enemies and stuff.”
Alerra began to descend towards the museum with Gretchen following her.
“I’ll help you find this necklace thing and we will stop the Justice League and rule the Earth.”
Alerra landed and walked into the darkened Museum with Gretchen following.
“What does it look like?”
“It would be the only thing glowing in the dark.”
Gretchen smiled and walked in the opposite direction of Alerra.
This could be what she had been waiting for. Power and knowledge to have what she wanted everyone listening to her for once.
Gretchen could feel the necklace calling to her as she turned the corner.
Alerra searched through the rumble and found nothing.
< Why aren’t you out killing? >
Alerra chuckled. 
Diana made a moaning sound from inside.
Alerra frowned and halted in her searching. < What is wrong with you Amazon? >

Alerra continued searching until she heard the sounds of joy coming from down the hall.
< She has found it and she will try to keep it do you think so Amazon? >
Diana was silent.
Alerra could feel the body in discomfort. Gretchen came running towards her.
She held up the glowing necklace. “I think it likes me.”
Alerra smiled. “Give it to me.”
Gretchen looked down at her on the floor. “What’s wrong with you why can’t you stand?”
“The Amazon is not well and needs to rest.”
Gretchen smiled. “SO as goes the Amazon so do you.”
Alerra pulled her hand back. “Give me the necklace.”
Gretchen unhooked the necklace. “All this power and you want me to give it to you.”
She placed on the necklace and she was enveloped with power.
Alerra slid back. Gretchen laughed as she made a fist and could feel the power flowing through her body.

Thunder shook the Museum.
“What was that?” Flash whispered as the League headed down to where Alerra was.
“Come on” Superman said moving faster.
Suddenly Alerra came crashing through the wall and landed on the ground before them.
Another woman came through the whole and grabbed her by the neck and lifted her from the ground.
“Your terror ends here.” Gretchen began laughing.
Alerra began gagging.
Jonn tried to force the other woman away telepathically.
Gretchen faced them and dropped Alerra.
“The Justice losers I got something for you.”
She waved her hand and the walls began to tremble and threaten to crumble around them.
Diana recovered from her weakness and Alerra was standing behind Gretchen.
Batman threw some exploding baterangs at them. Gretchen screamed in pain and Alerra was knocked into the wall behind her.
Gretchen jumped up through the rock ceiling and flew away.
Alerra tried to follow but Gl formed a rope around her ankle.
Diana felt weak again.
Alerra fell to the ground.
“She has the necklace you must stop her or your world will end.”
Batman approached. “Get out of Diana.”
“She is too weak I can not leave her.”
Jonn raised an eyebrow. “What is the necklace?”
“It is evil. I came to destroy it but I needed that evil creature to find it and now she has it and will not be able to control it. You must let me go.”
“Why can’t you just knock us around like before?” Shayera asked.
Alerra pulled back to let Diana come through. She fell to the floor of the cave.
Bruce had her in his arms.
“Diana?”
She opened her eyes. “She is not lying. You must help us stop her or evil will take over this world.”
Alerra came back and moved from Bruce’s hold.
“You have to rest.” Jonn said to Alerra.
Alerra looked at him.
“We are wasting time here.”
Shayera stepped into her path. “You need your strength and you need to rest.”
Alerra looked down at the Hawk and frowned.
“You can’t take all of us.” Flash said.
Diana came through and Alerra seemed to be talking to her because she was still for a moment. “Alright you find away to fix this body and then we hunt her.”
