A/N:
This is what happens when you read Battle Royal and Hunger Games too often. You obsess over it to the point where you make poor unexpecting teenage heros become the cast of this. I'm pretty sick and twisted, aren't I?
Prologue: True art.
Who ever said death wasn't beautiful? A faceless man thought behind the glow of hundreds of screens portraying nothing but senseless violence every few secends. When it wasn't your own death; the sight was like the world's finest chocalate. Sweet and satisfying. He smiled brightly watching a girl no older then sixteen digging her nails into a boy's eye socket as he held her to the ground trying to strangle the life from her. He loved this sight.
He could understand what would make a journalist weave together a world where people forced adolesents to fight to the death(1). There was just something about young adults killing each other off that was a pure source of absolute ectasy.
Caught in those awkward years where you already feel the world is out to devour you whole and your raging hormones can make you into anyones worst nightmares on the worst days. It makes the betrayal and want of blood shed that much more enjoyable to watch when presented as your only option. The point when your best friend becomes your worst enemy is any teenagers worst fear and the after math of that hurt was beautiful. He watched another young girl from the survelence system bashing her former friend's skull open with a rock blood splashing forth like a sprinkler painting her face red; tears cleaning away some of the blood.
It was a work of art...but it could be so much more enjoyable.
Spread across the desk he sat behind were many files fliped open revealing many young faces smiling towards him not expecting their fates in the least bit. He smiled brightly picking up the smiling face of a green skinned young boy no older then fifteen. What was more enjoyable then forcing teenagers that swore never to go to that extreme kill each other off one by one? Make the friends they fought alongside for months, years even... kill them in act of self preservation? That was true art.
But...
Flinging aside the changling's profile he picked up the profile of young woman with a white cat mask concealing her face. He had to choose some teenagers who were willing to kill each other off for self preservation and hope that their example would rub off onto the little do gooders. And if that didn't get them to fight; he had other tricks up his sleave...
He smiled devilishly turning back to the death match running before him watching yet another teenager fall to their death. This was only a trial run. A bit of forshadowing to both the Titans and The Justice League. The real show was going to begin soon enough. A show that would never be forgotten.
( 27 contestants remaining)
(1) Koushun Takami, the writer of Battle Royal, was originally a journalist. I know allott of people like to think he used to be a high school teacher but nope, he wasn't. I still like to think that though...
Oh! And if someone can name off who they think all 27 contestants are before I really get the show going, you sir or madame, can read the future. Or I'm just that predicatable...-shrugs-
