Harley knew she wasn’t alone in her office, and then she looked at her desk. She was going to get the gun she had there but sitting on her desk was a thin vase with a single rose, a card was tied to it and from this angel she could clearly see that it was a joker card. She looked around the around the room again hope poured into her heart.
“Puddin?” She whispered hopefully, then she noticed a corner that seemed a little to dark. “Not hardly.” A female voice responded, as the shadow stretched elongated and took the form of a woman in her mid twenties. She was wearing a long purple coat and that looked very familiar, she was looking down so Harley couldn’t see her face but she could see long green hair that hung to the girl’s waist. “Who are you and what do you want?” Harley asked bitterly as the woman circled her. “What do I want? You’re the psychologist, surely you know better than I do what a person wants.” The woman taunted, Harley felt very strange. This woman had a similar presence to that of her beloved Mr. J but at the same time it wasn’t quite right, like something was missing. “What do you want me to say?” Harley asked, she really wasn’t sure what this woman wanted. Suddenly the woman had Harley by her very short hair and was bending her backwards like a bow. “I want my father back, and you’re just the Harlequin to help me. That’s IF you think you’re still of any use to us.” Said the woman and Harley got a good look at the woman’s face, for all the good it did her. The girl was painted up like The Joker. Something clicked in Harley’s head and made her feel like she was trying to grab smoke. “Let me go.” Harley demanded. The woman smirked and it was the same look that HE got before he was about to seriously twist the persons request. Harley felt herself being thrown to the ground. “You’ve sat up here and made yourself very wealthy while my father rotted in that hell hole. Well not any longer, I plan to do what your incompetence could not.” The woman said walking to the window. “Don't you think that was the first thing I tried why do you think they moved him so far away?!” “My father is coming home.” The woman putting her gloved hand on the window. “They’ve been rehabilitating him…brainwashing him… and tonight they are bringing him to Arkham. You’re being called in for consultation first thing in the morning. We need to strike now before they notify you, that way IF you get questions you can say that Arkham never told you anything.” The woman turned to look at Harley. “Unless of course you’re too old?” That got Harley’s attention, as she stood up and brushed herself off, she looked at this woman. Harley instantly hated her because she was claiming to behis child, Harley wondered what her daughter would look like, would act like… “WELL?!” The girl demanded spinning on Harley snapping her out of her thoughts. Well she certainly has his bossiness. Harley thought to herself, but she thought better of saying it though. “Let me get changed.” She said and walked into what amounted to little more than a closet that she had outfitted with a few things. When Harley stepped out she was looking more like herself, and she felt more like herself then she had in years. She started doing some stretches to get herself reacquainted with her suit and herself. “Ready?” The girl asked impatiently. “Yes.” Harley responded. The woman didn’t hesitate she just took off leaving Harley to follow in her wake. To Harley’s surprise the woman went to the elevator and as they rode down in uncomfortable silence Harley couldn’t help but wonder who this girl’s mother was. “Stop staring Harley, its unprofessional and rude. You can call me Marionette; you’ll meet Jester when we get to the car.” The woman said. “Who’s Jester?” Harley asked thankful that she finally had a name for the child, as the doors slid open smoothly, “My twin brother.” Marionette respond then stepped out of the elevator and began to walk to the front door where Harley could see a purple car waiting. Marionette held the front door open for Harley to get it, and to her surprise she didn’t have to tell the woman to slide over. “Jester?” Harley questioned shock clear in her voice, she was looking at the spitting image of her dear Mr. J, only this boy was still a few year younger then when she had first met The Joker. The boy laughed as Marionette got in behind her, and slammed the door shut. “That’s my name doc, now you see why I waited in the car.” Harley seemed to notice instantly that although Jester looked like his father it was clear that it was Marionette who inherited the Joker’s brain ♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦♠♥♣♦ **An hour latter** “Alright there are two guards at the gate, after I deal with them we can get up to the main part of the Asylum. Shift change is at three, so that’s when we need to strike. We’ll have to wait for the guy at the front desk to switch. We can grab his key card and get into the main part of the building, that’s where you come in Harley; you’ll have to get us to his cell.” Marionette said. “They’ll put him in solitary in D block, that’s in the basement. You’ll need a doctor’s key card.” Harley said. Marionette held up a card. “Where did you get that?” Harley asked a little shocked “From the guard at BlackGate, they gave it to him when they started planning to transfer Dad.” Jester answered. Somehow thinking of her Joker as Dad just didn’t sit right with Harley. When Arkham loomed into view Jester killed the lights then slowed down to a stop and let Marionette out to deal with the guards at the gate. A few moments later the gate swung open and Jester pulled through then stopped and Marionette slid back in. When they got to the main building they shut off the car and left the keys in it. Jester picked the lock on the front door and the three of them let themselves in, it was a fairly simple process since the whole building was designed to keep people IN, more precisely it was designed to keep the inmates IN. “Hey what are you kids doing here?” The deskman said. “We’re here for our father.” Jester said careful to stay in the shadows. “Visiting hours are 4pm-6pm every Thursday, you’ll have to make an appointment.” “We’re not visiting.” Marionette said stepping into the light and before the man could respond she threw something at him, Harley watched him reach for his throat as the blood oozed between his fingers as he tried to pull the card out. The life faded from his eyes and Harley couldn’t help the surge of pride that went through, these children were the Joker’s and that was good enough for her. “This way,” Jester said leading them over to a large door. It slid open and after checking to make sure that the coast was clear he let Harley in to lead the way. They made it past the guards with ease, Harley thought it was that they didn’t seem to care about the security cameras but they seemed to think of everything else, and no sirens were going off so she just went with it. Once in D block they check all the cells and finally found a prisoner in a straight jacket and a restraint mask between Frost and Scarecrow. “Wait.” Harley said grabbing Marionette’s wrist reached for the key pad. “Something’s not right here.” Marionette pulled her wrist free. “Our dad could be trust up like a thanksgiving turkey and you want me to wait because something doesn’t feel right?” Marionette snapped. “That’s not him look he isn’t even breathing…” Harley pointed out, three pairs of eyes watched the figure for what seemed like an impossibly long time, Harley was right, it wasn’t breathing. “They killed him!” Marionette said and reached for the keypad again. “No, it’s a trap, look.” Harley pointed to little black squares across the bottom of the glass, Marionette kicked herself for not noticing sooner. They were infrared mirrors and they were set to go off the second the door moved even a centimeter. “Is there any other way in or out of here?” Jester questioned. “No, and I don’t know where else they could have put him.” She said wishing she could kick the door. A tapping sound from across the hall suddenly caught their attention, Jester and Marionette were the first to notice it and they quickly walked over to the the red haired man that was smiling up at them. “Well now, what have we here?” He said like a man that just found something he liked “I spy with my little eye the brats of a mad man.” He quickly made gave a mock look of horror and fear. “Come on we’ll get nothing out of him.” Harley said, of all the people in here that she knew Edward Nigma was the last one she wanted to talk to. “Why so glum sugar plum?” He asked still smiling. “Do you know where our father is?” Jester asked “Did you know the king can move in any direction but only one space at a time?” Edward asked. “He’s in the warden’s office.” Jester said suddenly. “Are you sure?” Marionette asked. “I think so, the king is warden of this place right? He can’t be in two places at once.” Jester asked Edward who nodded in pure shock; no one had ever gotten his clues that easily before. “Open up the cell and the warden comes down himself to see who is caught in his trap. It’s our only chance Marry.” Jester said calmly. “You get by the door with Harley and I’ll open it.” “No Jess I’m not leaving you here, don’t ask me to do that.” Marionette protested, he put a finger on her lips to silence her. “You have to do this for me, you’ll have dad and you two can figure something out, I trust you.” Jester said, Harley got the impression that something was more than a little off about these twins and the psychologist part of her mind was analyzing everything. It was clear that these two had been starved for love and as the Joker’s children they would be far too different for just anyone to love. They must have turned to each other while they sought out their father, Harley wanted to study these two and find out just how they were…. Harley’s thoughts froze in mid thought as Jester and Marionette at the same time pulled each other in for a deep passionate kiss. A few moments later they broke apart but it seemed like a lifetime. “I’ll find a way to come back for you, I promise.” Marionette said as they rested their foreheads together. “I know baby, you’ve always been the smart one. Get dad and get out of here then worry about me, remember he comes first.” Jester said, then he kissed Marionette’s forehead. She handed him the key card and then pulled Harley back the way they came. When they were back at the elevator Marionette watched Jester stand there looking strong, cool, confidant as always. Marionette wondered if he realized just how much strength it always gave her that she had his strength to count on. Harley knew that now was not the time, as she pressed the button for the 4th floor were the warden’s rooms were located. “MR. J!!!!” Harley cried and ran over to him. He was tied to a metal chair that bolted to the floor. “Harley?” The Joker’s voice sounded aged and dried. In the dim light she could see that he had no make up on but he had a fresh burse around his swollen left eye and the right side of his mouth was cracked. “Oh my god what have they done to you?” Harley was shocked and the woman that was in love with him seemed to be kicking in, Marionette thankfully had enough presence of mind to cut the ropes off him. He looked over at her and starred for a moment. "You do know its not polite to dress up as other people?" He asked. "Well some part of him is still the same man, lets get him out of here and hope that 15 years hasn’t screwed him up to bad." Marionette said pulling him to his feet, he seemed awkward and unsteady almost like he'd fall over and shatter like a ming vase. Harley took up his other side and they began to half carry half drag a stumbling Joker to the door.A/N: I do NOT have any more of this written, HOWEVER as you can see it is open ended so if YOU want to create a spin off just acknowledge that at the start of your story. (Also let me know cause I'd like to read them!!)
