BOOK ONE
Prologue
He couldn’t believe it, standing there now in front of the cold stone statue. It seemed in that moment that all the happiness of the past had simply turned to dust with the changing seasons. As if to mimic his mood the sky had turned a sullen gray and small drops of water leaked from the clouds like errant tears speckling the busy side walk.
No one paid him much attention after all his face was hidden, even here they had enemies. His brothers had long since gone back to what they now called home, Raph had tried to convince him to go with them but he had refused.
The rain was starting to fall harder now and the crowded streets where beginning to thin, he turned to leave and then stopped, he took one last longing look at the face of the statue and then turned for home. He had grieved enough for this, now he had work to do.
Chapter 1
He hadn’t been the Turtle Titan in quite some time in fact it had almost been two years since he had borrowed the items from April for his costume, which he had only ever worn once before. He had made a near complete fool of himself attempting to be Silver Sentry’s side kick and had tossed aside the garments never to be worn again, he was glad he hadn’t thrown them out.
Silver Sentry Vanished the head line had read, he’d been shocked but brushed it off as the S-dude taking a little unannounced r and r. Now two weeks later he had officially gone from unperturbed to seriously concerned and with that change came the rummaging through his closet for the long forgotten red garment.
He perused the Manhattan sky line, it was nearly impossible to tell what could be a lead and what was one of many, many unrelated crimes in this city. He really didn’t know what he planned to do Silver Sentry was more than capable of looking after himself and if he couldn’t handle the trouble alone Mike was sure he wouldn’t fair much better.
It was nearly 2am when Mike finally felt fatigue starting to take it’s toll. One more lap around Mike told himself and then home to bed. He sighed and headed off for his final patrol of the night feeling more frustrated that usual over his lack of leads.

Capes! What was with men and capes, she asked herself watching the lumpy figure leap from one rooftop to the other. They were all flash and no practicality , and it seemed every joe six pack with an anger issue was under the impression that throwing one on made them an instant hero. Capes! Please she thought with eye roll. Maybe they were over compensating for something she mused with a smirk making a mental note of it to throw in a certain someones face at a later date. Her amusement began to fade as her thoughts returned to her caped query, Silver Sentry.
She had spent the better part of the week trying to track down the suddenly absent do-gooder with no luck. She sighed and turned her attention back to her patrols, as much as she normally couldn’t stand the media loving goody goody she new if the roles were reversed he would be the first masked avenger out searching for her.
She brushed a stray lock of bottle blonde hair back behind her ear as she jumped the building gap from Park to 79th, after eliminating most of the warehouse districts earlier in the week Central Park was next most likely place and evil genius would stash a super hero.

His one last lap had turned into two and then three and soon enough it was starting to pushing 4am and still no Silver Sentry. He had checked the docks, several spans of warehouse and every rough sketchy looking neighborhood he could think of and all it had left him with was a sore shoulder and the beginnings of a killer headache. He sighed and tried to push the self doubt out as he went over the possibilities in his mind for the millionth time. He leapt neatly from building to building with practiced grace until he realized he hadn’t been paying much attention to his course.
“Better ask for directions” He said aloud to himself.
He leaned over the edge of the rooftop in search of the nearest intersection.
“Hmm Columbus and W 72nd” He said continuing to voice his thoughts. That would put him near some good traveling tunnels near 73rd and if he kept straight Central Park..........Central Park! And with that last thought a light went on in Mikey’s head.
He raced off towards Central Park wondering how it had taken him this long to think of it. Acres and acres of mostly open land smack dab in the middle of Manhattan and the thought had never even crossed his mind. He reached the park and entered through the woods, even in costume it wasn’t wise to just stroll down the main path.

The building hadn’t been that hard to find, if you knew where to look. The lake had a slight remodeling earlier that year and as far as she could remember that was the only major landscaping that had been done recently. Knowing that it was just a matter of time and after about an hour and a half of circling she had found it, she knew it the second her foot touched the ground. The grass was wet from the early spring rain and the ground was soggy and soft which made it much easier to find the metal hatch hidden underneath.
Hmm well thought out all things considered building an under ground domain during renovations she thought as she jumped down into the darkened tunnel. It was a long fall, 5 storeys or so, nothing for her but a normal person could get one heck of a owie if the stumbled into this hole.
She strolled silently down the long hallway, the tunnel was cold and dirty but she supposed that was to be expected. After a few feet she began to hear voices at the end of the hall, which meant more than one baddie. She sighed henchmen were so tiring some times but at least they had taken the consideration of only building one direct tunnel, they probably thought no one would ever find this place, evil geniuses could be so egotistical.
Finally the end of the tunnel was in sight, light streamed into the tunnel but that wasn’t a problem, she was good and staying hidden if needed. As she reached the end of the tunnel and peered carefully into the room she realized that she had been wrong about hearing voices, it was actually voice, singular! She had always know that the evil ones liked to talk but this guy could make a sport out of it.
“And that...” the voice announced casually “Is why I’ve brought you here”.
She smirked at her luck, she had managed to arrive just in time to miss the long winded im the baddie monologue. She scanned the room taking in its sole two occupants and the mass amounts of machinery covered in blinking lights and tons of buttons. The baddie in question looked pretty standard, kinda skinny, odd ensemble, didn’t look very tough but something told her she should know who he was. Maybe if he didn’t have his back to her she would have recognized his face, but she knew he wouldn’t turn her way all his attention was currently fixed on the helpless hero in front of him. Silver Sentry was strapped to a standard horror movie vertical metal table and all for all he didn’t look too bad for a man held captive.
“You’ll never get away with this Malignus”
She could have truly laughed aloud at that, she had always know the silver goodie good was pompous and completely cliche but that was just plain ridiculous, but at least he had given her a name. Hmm Malignus now that rung a bell, who was Malignus she was certain she’d heard the name before but decided not to waste anymore time dwelling on it. She took a deep breath and schooled her features, it was show time, and with that she stepped into the room.
***
Mikey noticed her right away, a lone figure by the lake. At first he thought she was just a random park goer and had found himself starting to stare, whatever she was wearing it was skin tight and even from as far away as he was he could tell she had one hell of a body.
She was short and had lose shoulder length hair that flowed nicely in the breeze. She had her back to him but he was willing to bet she had a pretty face. He jumped in surprise as the quick flash of moment snapped him out of his trance, she had jumped and then vanished from sight.
“What the...” He murmured to himself moving in for a closer inspection. His eyes hadn’t deceived him she had indeed vanished, down a deep tunnel which seemed to have been previously covered by earth and grass. So this is it he thought mind racing, he knew the moment he laid eyes on it that this had to be where Silver Sentry was, the place just had comic book written all over it.
In his excitement he had almost forgotten what had prompted him to walk over to the tunnel he was now gazing down. The second it hit him he swore out loud, whatever evil plot he had just stumbled upon had just claimed its first victim. He took a deep breath and jumped into the dark tunnel hoping the girl had some how survive the fall and cringing at the alternative.
When he finally touched solid ground he was glad he still had decided to take the grappling hook he had used in his first outing as Turtle Titan with him. Well he thought taking a deep calming breath and attempting to focus.
“Here goes nothing”.
