Dark Tower

Robin continues to train in the Titan’s Gym area. He’s been in there for hours on this day, only stopping to acknowledge his teammates that pass by. Cyborg grits his teeth as his anger begins to grow. “GRRRRR, what will it take to stop those guys!” He yells.

“We’re on our way.” Robin says, as he turns away from the vid-screen. He begins to lead the Titans to the garage area when he notices an alert on his portable police scanner. He puts it up to his ear and listens to the report.

“What is it, Robin?” Starfire asks.

“There are reports that members of the Hive 5 are still in the city.” Robin says.

“But, didn’t Bumblebee just say they were over fighting them?” Beast Boy asks.

“They may have split up.” Robin says. “Which means they might be planning an attack on our Tower. I’ll stay here, in case they try anything.”

“You cannot fight them alone.” Starfire says. “I will stay here to fight alongside you.”

“No, they’ll need your firepower to defend against Brother Blood.” Robin says. “Don’t worry about me. I can…”

“I’ll stay.”

The team turns to see Raven raising her hand, volunteering to remain behind with Robin. “What? I just don’t feel like traveling right now.” She says.

“Alright, it’s settled. Cyborg, you, Beast Boy & Starfire go and help Titans East.” Robin says. “Raven & I will stay here and hold down the fort.” They all agree as Beast Boy & Starfire head off to the garage. Cyborg is about to join him when he’s stopped by Robin. “Remember, Cyborg. We need Brother Blood alive.”

“Oh he’ll be alive.” Cyborg says as he activates the Pulse Cannon on his arm. “I can’t promise he’ll be healthy, but he’ll be alive.” Robin is about to say something, but doesn’t. He remembers the history Cyborg has with Brother Blood, and knows it’s useless to try to calm him down. All he can do is trust that Cyborg does actually keep his word.

A little while later, the three take off in the ship and head out across country to Titans East headquarters. Raven & Robin look on from the main room on the screen. “Well, I’ve got some more training to do.” Robin says.

Raven nods her head. “Yeah, I should get some meditation in myself.”

“Good. I’ll be in the Gym if you need me.” Robin heads off toward the Gym area, and back for more training. Leaving Raven alone.

2 Hours Later…

Robin is back in the Gym, hard at work with his training. He’s running through the obstacle course that Cyborg has set up, seeing if he can best his time. “Whatever you’re doing here, I suggest you leave now.” Robin warns them. “Before things get ugly.”

“Aw, how cute. The birds are giving us a warning.” Jinx says with a smirk. “We’ll make this simple. Give us Raven, and we’ll only break half of your bones.”

Raven is a little shocked by their request. “What do you want me for?”

“The Boss says you’re needed for some resurrection or something.” Gizmo says. “Some guy named Trigon.”

Raven gasps, not expecting to her his name so soon. It wasn’t that long ago that her father, the Demon-God Trigon, nearly succeeded in ruling the world, until she stopped him. She’s read prophecies that say her death in certain churches could lead to his resurrection once again. Robin begins to see fear in her eyes, and he decides to take action.

“That…won’t…happen.” He says as he brings out his Bird-a-rang. Gizmo activates his gadgets for combat. Both Jinx & Raven begin to power up, and for a short minute, it’s a standoff. Neither the two Titans, nor the Hive members or Brother Blood’s minions move. Gizmo becomes tired of waiting and launches his attack, only to have one of his gadgets slashed by Robin’s Bird-a-rang. And the battle is on.

Jinx fires a couple of pink energy bolts, which Raven easily avoids. Jinx then decides to stand back and orders her troops to attack Raven. “Take her down, now!” She barks out.

The minions of Brother Blood charge the Titan, ready to bring her to her knees. “Azarath Metrion ZINTHOS!!!” Raven summons up her power and covers the attackers in a black aura. She then launches them off the Tower as if they were toy soldiers. They land in the ocean right by the Tower. Meanwhile, Robin has gone hand to hand with the rest of Blood’s minions, and is dispatching with them just as easily as Batman would have. Gizmo is standing out of the way. He activates a button that launches mechanical Spider-like legs out of his backpack. He charges into the fight and blindsides Robin, knocking him to the edge of the Tower.

“ROBIN!!!” Raven sees him getting hit and flies over to help, but she’s hit from behind by one of Jinx’s blasts, and falls hard to the ground. Jinx uses her powers to cause nearby ventilation shafts to wrap around her, holding her tightly.

“Not too tough now, are you Dark Girl?” She says smugly.

Raven struggles to break free. “No…you can’t…you can’t let my father come back!”

Jinx just smiles at her. “Why not, Afraid of daddy dearest? Personally, I’m looking forward to the carnage he’ll bring.”

“NO!!!” Robin sits up and throws his Bird-a-rang. It rips through two of Gizmo’s mechanical legs, putting him on the ground. The Bird-a-rang then hits Jinx in the head, causing her to momentarily lose control of her powers. The vents loosen, and Raven breaks free.

“Azarath Metrion ZINTHOS!!!” Raven casts a spell on the roof, causing a portion under Jinx to rip away and flip her off of the Tower and into the ocean. Robin then jumps to his feet and grabs one of Gizmo’s mechanical legs. He swings him around and tosses him into the ocean to join the rest. Gizmo splashes down hard, and his gadgets begin to malfunction.

“That will never happen.” Robin walks over to her and looks her in the eye. “Raven, you’re a Titan.
