Good writing. I have to admit, when Daniel found the journals I was hoping for more than an excerpt. You have the right feel and eye for details that his character requires for the right tone to be set. I would adore a deeper look into Rorschach's twisted childhood, and I really think you're the one to write it. Please? Oh, Please?

You know, you had me 'til the last, when you listed the stuff buried with him. That last journal... that was the most important thing in the whole graphic novel / movie. It was the average person's only hope of learning the truth about what Adrian had done, and by having Dan collect it, you've condemned him, them, and everyone to the Lie that Rorschach couldn't live with, but knew was more important than he was.

There's a darn good reason why the orginal material left that uncertain chance for the conspiracy to be 'outted'. Without that slim possibility of honesty being held out there, Rorschach died for nothing. In your story all that remains is the cynicism and the depression, and the banality of Dan and Laurie's happy little life, based on the Lie.

The journal wasn't an overlooked detail. The small chance of the magazine's publishing it was the one chance that world had for honor and hope. The Nations had started to come together, you think they wouldn't bond further after knowing Adrian had played them all for fools?

In short... you erased the one upbeat note at the end of the story. All the rest is darkness.
